Title: Oak Park High School Post by: secretoracle on August 21, 2006, 10:11:33 AM Oak Park High is a colosus of a school. Stretching from Erie south almost to Lake street, the building is four stories high and is a mixture of past and present. High School (http://www.kfaq.net/marvels/2011/Oak_Park_HS.jpg) The north end of the complex dates back to 1907. The interior still shows signs of the care and craftsmanship of that bygone era, as well as the track marks of hundreds of thousands of students. The majority of the school is more modern in look and feel, primarily constructed during the 1960s. Various remodeling efforts and treatments have been undertaken during the last 50 years to keep the facilities among the most modern in the country. Some facts for incoming Freshmen; School Mascot: The Siberian Husky School Colors: Burnt Orange and Navy Blue Athletic Affiliation: West Suburban Conference, Illinois High School Association Accreditation: State of Illinois: North Central Association o Colleges and Schools School News Paper: The Huskie News (usually just called The Huskie) Student Population: 3,087 (772 Freshmen) Freshmen MUST remain on campus for lunch and eat at the North Cafateria. School starts at 8AM and ends at 3PM. The building opens at 7AM. The library, computer and tutoring centers are open before and after school. Classes start August 30, 2007. |
