Title: Chapter 2-5, Distortions Post by: secretoracle on August 31, 2006, 04:26:35 PM Bruce Beck sat in the living room watching TV. His twin sister Brandi was sitting at the counter doing her homework and talking to their mother. It was meatloaf night, and mom was heating it up in the oven. Dad was running late, which was not totally uncommon this early in the year. College Freshman were probably more confused and lost then high school freshman, and Bruce was feeling that first hand. "Bruce, come set the table." He heard his mom call. She was being a little more accepting of his "phase" then dad was. Ever since the voices had started he'd been turning into a slacker, and his dad was pulling his hair out over it. Mom on the other hand was being very understanding. Bruce wasn't sure which outlook annoyed him more. The TV froze, which was not uncommon for sattelite, and so he had no real compelling reason to remain seated. Rising he turned towards the kictchen, and realized that the TV wasn't the only thing frozen. His mother and sister were still, stuck as though in mid-sentence. He took a cautious step forward, wondering if this was some kind of weird drug flashback. He slowly moved into the kitchen and stood next to his mother, looking from her to his sister. Suddenly they were moving again, and so was the TV. "Oh!" His mom said with a start, she laughed at her own suprise, "I thought you were in the living room honey. Kind of snuck up on me. Set the table for me, would you?" |
