Kel made sense when he said that TJ's dad had been hurt they would have notified him. When his mom is home when he gets there, he starts to worry again. "Hey TJ." She says coming out of the kitchen. "Dad's gonna be late, something happened at the lab today. He's okay, but he needs to help them sort some things out. I didn't want you to worry when you got home and saw the news." I heard about it from some of the kids at school when they got back from the trip. They went to Dad's lab." He moves into the sitting room and turns on the telly. "So what exactly happened?" He asks switching to the news. "Did anyone get hurt?" Your dad couldn't talk about it when he called, but he wanted us to know he was okay. There were some injuries but they didn't say anything about fatalities." "It's been a long day. Mom I'm going to go upstairs. I've got some homework and I need to see if I can figure out how to complete my project." He nods at her and rushes upstairs. Once in his room he throws his bag onto his bed and reaches for a box. Inside is a model car, a small engine and some spare parts. Tipping the parts onto the table and looks at the pieces and tries to fix the engine. |
