Title: Chapter 3-8, Oak Park vs. Larkin @ Larkin
Post by: secretoracle on September 07, 2006, 09:13:41 AM
For away games the school paper kids get to ride with the band kids.  On the trip Kel learns two very important things that he was previously unaware of.  One, their bus is crowded, so the students are packed in kind of close.  Two, there are several hotties in the marching band.

Colin, Sarah, and Kel are probably not football fans, but it's easy to get excited by the energy the prents and other students give off during the game, cheering for their friends and family members.  It's easy to spot Calvin Stewart's father, as he's very vocal.  The woman with him with the very young child is fairly easy to peg as Cal's mom.

Gretchen gets there a little after the game starts, and apologizes for not having ridden the bus with you guys.

Watching the game you can see why everyone is talking about Cal Stewart.  He's got a great arm, always putting the ball into the hands of one of his receivers, usually Lance Harbor.  When the pressure is on he can run too, and on more then one occassion he is forced to plow his way through some people as they rush him.  ((OOC: I know almost nothing about football, so forgive any minor errors, but feel free to correct them.))

The final score is Larkin 7, Oak Park 17 ((OOC: If that's possible)) and there were some pretty good plays on thei field.

((OOC: Colin make a check to see if you got any good pictures.

Kel and Sylvia make writing checks to see how well you describe the game.  Also make checks for your story about the incident at Lawson Labs.

If you ever decide to actually write an article that will appear in the school paper feel free to do so and I'll be sure to set up a Huskie News thread for them to be posted in.

I don't intend for this thread to have any replies beyond the requested checks.  It's mainly for informational purposes.  If you want to expand something for some RP, put a reply here letting me know and I'll open another thread.  If not, I'm going to take us into next week, whcih is when the real fun begins at Oak Park.
))

OOC: Of course Colin gets good pictures. He's a professional. :)

Writing (Lawson Labs) (1d20+3=5) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=604311)

Sylvia's too excited and knows too little about the incident to make sense.  Maybe no one's told her what really happened.  Or maybe she's trying to protect the privacy of Cal and Colin, who demonstrated wild powers.

Writing (Football Game) (1d20+3=7) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=604315)

Or maybe she just sucks.

Wow... guess it didn't help that the spellcheck switched every reference of Football to Soccer.

OOC: Well, if Sylvia doesn't feel like writing today, she can always try to help him with his articles and add +2 to his rolls. I also think that you could settle for taking 10, at least for the game. ;)

OOC: Taking 10 and Taking 20 are options.  This was just for the rough draft of the events that you'd have.  Since you have until Monday to turn them in, you can certainly take extra time to clean them up.

The main reason I wanted rolls for this is because Kel and Sylvia aren't sports fans, and the fact that Sylvia was so psyched about the Lawson Labs thing.

OOC: Just so you know, Colin isn't any good at most sports, but he likes them nonetheless. I gave him a rank of Knowledge: Current Events mainly thinking of him reading the sport pages to keep himself up to date. All his Knowledge ranks are attempts to be able to be a good conversationist with everyone. He doesn't like when he can't fit in with people because he has no idea what they're talking about, so he put his memory to the task. :)

Kel, while not exactly the best people person, was more than capable of keeping an ear out for the inflections in a person's voice, able to properly convey most of the story from the labs, maybe embelishing a tad bit here or there.  Plus for a guy who seems to hate the jockocracy present at most schools throughout the country, and having no real interest in any sport, he has been dragged to more than a few games and once more his good eyes and ability to pick up the feelings of the crowd are evident.

((OOC: http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=604534 I'm not sure which to put where, I suppose the 21 to the Sports, and 22 to the Labs))

((OOC: Yes it's possible, don't worry I know very little about American Football too, we'll just have to be novices together  ;D))

((OOC: PS: Wheee! we won! Go Huskies!))

just leave out phrases like "scrum" and "Goal!!!!!"  and you'll be fine.

OOC: Goal is right.  ETF is Scrum?  It sounds kinda painful.

Its a rugby term.

from wikipedia:
"In the sports of rugby union and rugby league, a scrummage or scrum is a way of restarting the game, either after an accidental infringement or when the ball has gone out of play (in rugby league only). Scrums occur more often, and are of greater importance, in union than in league."

OOC: Unless there is some more plot/post related stuff I'm gonna archive this one.
