Megan Howell went home from practice and entered the routine of her homelife.  She did homework, ate dinner and helped her mom clean up.  After everything was said and done she headed out to the park for some alone time, and to see just how fast she can run or if it's just her imagination.

Waiting for a moment in the park when there is no one around she takes off in a sprint.  As she gets a good pace going she begins to feel the surge she felt in the gym, and then it happens.  A burst of speed unlike anything she's ever felt before.

With the sensation still strong she stops and starts a few times, revelling in the pure joy of the speed.  In a few minutes she's covered the park and many of the blocks surrounding it.

Megan felt exhilarated by how fast she was able to run as she continued for longer than she had intended.  But then she suddenly realized that she should stop for the moment and started walking back towards home.  As she was walking, she suddenly realized that now she was one of those at school that had superpowers.

She wasn’t quite sure what to think of that, or how it could be happening to so many people.  But then she remembered the chemicals that had been spilled on her in the lab and the doctors at the hospital being worried about that.  Looks like they were right after all, even if it wasn’t anything they could figure out just by observing me.  She thought.  But what am I going to do?  Last thing I want is to be seen as a freak too.

On her way home she hears a woman yelling, "Stop, thief!"  Megan can see a young man running down the street with a purse, and a woman trailing behind him yelling for him to stop.

Dang it, why does this stuff always have to happen around me?  Megan wondered, somewhat amazed there was a purse snatcher so close to her parents’ neighborhood.  Maybe her father needed to focus a bit more on crime prevention.  She briefly considered not doing anything, but realized she would feel guilty about it for a long time, she just wished she had a mask or something right now.

Deciding to do the best she can to not seem to extraordinary, she started to run towards the thief, hoping to catch up with him and snatch the purse back and let him continue away.

With an effort of self control Megan manages to run fast enough to catch up to the man, but not so fast it looks unreasonable.  With a deft snatch she pulls the purse from him.  He feels the purse leave his hand, and runs a few more paces before stopping.

(OOC: Did Megan stop, or turn back towards the lady who the purse belongs to?)

Megan felt a bit of elation as she took back the purse and then changed directions, starting back towards the woman it had been stolen from in the first place.  But a quick glance over her shoulder and she saw the thief had stopped.  Oh crap.  She thought as she continued towards the woman.

As Megan got close to the woman she stopped running, obviously winded.  "Oh thank you.  She manages to get out through rough breaths, "You're a dear."  she sits down at the nearby bus stop bench to rest.  "Not too many people would have done that, especially people your age."  The older woman puts a hand on Megan's, "Your parents done a good job raising you child."  The woman reaches into her purse and takes out her wallet, "Let me see what I got in here for you."

“Oh, no problem ma’am.”  Megan replied as she glances back in the direction she came to make sure the thief wasn’t following after her.  “But I’m not sure we should rest here.”  She says, a bit worried.  “That guy might come back, we should get back to where there are more people or something.  And don’t worry about anything,” she adds shaking her head about the idea of a reward, “my dad would say it was my civic duty or something to that effect.”  She tries to help get the woman back to her feet if it seems like the older woman agrees they should move somewhere else, continually checking for the thief as she does. 

"Well, you are a blessing child."  She says, letting Megan help her up, "My bus outta be along at my regular stop in a little bit.  If you could help me get back there I'd be much obliged."

“Sure, no problem ma’am.”  Megan replied as she helped the lady up and back towards her normal bus stop.  As they went, the blond teen would check back over her shoulder to try to be sure the thief wasn’t following them.

They make their way the few blocks until they get to the old lady's bus stop.  They only have to wait about two minutes before her bus gets there.  "Thank you again angel."  she says, waving good-bye as she gets on the bus.  Megan watches the bus pull away and she feels strangely warm inside.  A swelling sense of accomplsihment fills her chest and she feels a little tear come to her eye.

Megan starts walking back towards home, still feeling rather exhilarated from preventing the purse snatching.  She could understand why those costumed heroes around would want to help prevent crimes like that, but she still felt a bit of worry regarding the dangers involved.  While she could run fast, she somewhat doubted she was bulletproof or anything, not to mention she was a teenage girl, while she was able to grab back the purse by surprise mainly, she rather doubted her ability to fight a teenage boy, let alone a grown man. 

One thing she was sure of, if she did decided to do anything like this more often, she would need a way to disguise herself.  It seemed somewhat silly to be considering a costume, but it was the best means of keeping some anonymity. 

After she got home Megan heade to her room, but her mom caught her on the stairs, "Honey, I need you to fold some laundry for me.  Your brother was going to do it but he left and forgot.  If you can take care of that for me I'll give him your dishes the rest of the week."

A fair deal Megan made her way to the laundry room.  Three baskets of laundry wasn't a lot of work, but folding laundry wasn't Megan's favorite chore.  She sighed and set about the task at hand.  She started working on the laundry, and as she let her mind wander to the events of the evening she realized that she was folding laundry at a scary pace.  In a little under three minutes she'd folded all three baskets of laundry and was done.

Megan looks around at the folded laundry that she had managed to do in far shorter time than normal.  “Okay, this is pretty cool.”  She said to herself quietly, as she began to realize that she could apparently do more than just run real fast. 

For a moment she thought about what her mom had said to her on Sunday after getting out of the hospital.  Perhaps this is something she should mention.  But just as quickly she rejects the idea.  I don’t feel sick after all.  She thought.  Actually this is pretty exciting.

She then heads back up to her room to try something else.  Getting out one of her textbooks, she opens it to where she left off and begins reading.

As she reads she starts turning pages, and then turning them faster and faster.  After several pages she goes back over what she just read in her head.  She realizes that she read it, and took it in, just like she always did, but at about 5 times the speed she normally reads.

Megan lets out a small joyous laugh.  “This is awesome!”  Picking up another book, she starts to read it as well, going over not only what she had to do for tomorrow, but what she had to read for the next day as well.  She then starts to do that for all her classes.
