Sylvia had asked the rest of teh staff writers for the paper to meet her during last period in the paper's office.  She had seen something odd about Sarah's friend Rob, and she wanted to discuss it with them to try and figure out a way to solve what she thought was a mystery.

"It was the weirdest thing," she says, but it's like weird is wonderful--she's so excited.  "I went over there to talk to him, and it was like one moment he was like Orlando Bloom--ooh, Orlando!--and the next he was just Rob.  He might have something to do with the lunchtime hook-up between Fern and Broadie.

"Considering that Sarah was the first girl he could talk to without staring at her breasts (and it took her a while to break him of the habit), the fact that he is all of the sudden an utter ladies man is quite weird. I think there is probably something 'odd' going on with him. I think it likely he is developing some sort of emotional control or pheremones or something."

"But what do we know about Rob?  Would he do something smarmy like make two kids suck face just to amuse himself?"

"You think I should go, casually shake his hand and see what happens? Uhmm, this kind of thing would only work on girls, right?"

Sylvia looks at Donnie as if to say, This should be in-ter-es-ting.  Then her gaze slides back to Colin.  "I make no promises."

"I have been gaming with Rob for almost eight months. This is totally not like him. I just wish I would have thought of it earlier."

Sylvia gives Donnie a funny look.  "Thought of dousing yourself in Love Potion No. 9, you mean?  That's kind of creepy."

Kel had sat silent while the others made comments and then he says, "So you're saying he has control over the emotions of other people?  Do you think he knows he's doing it or..."

Donnie returns the funny look. "No, that I should have thought about his odd behavior earlier." He then sticks his tongue out at Sylvia and gives her a bemused expression.

"I don't know.  I don't know if he's associated with the Fern and Broadie thing either.  They said they felt hot right before it happened--like hot hot, not hormonally hot.  I didn't feel anything like that when I was near Rob."

Colin sighs.
"Ok, I'll try. But I don't like it. I feel like I'm invading people's privacy. Do you want to be there? Uhm, Donnie, you said you have a game later, don't you? Is Rob supposed to show up?"

Edit: I'm a little dense and I misplaced the action.

OOC: This is Friday during last period.  The paper staff can sometimes cut last period to work on the paper, so we'll assume this is done then.

"I'd like to be there," Sylvia says, "and if you can't feel anything, maybe we should just ask him.  I mean, he's not a bad guy, is he?"

"Well, as of lunchtime the game has been postponed. Dave and VanGo have gotten us into a party. Which I am quite uh, unnerved about, considering it is being held by the most popular girl and the most infamous slacker-king in school. Likely there will be quite a few jock-types, alcohol, and stupid behavior. Anyway, I think it best if we corner him at the end of school. I'll get Dave to mention to Robbie that he will drive him home so he does not have to ride the bus. That ought to get him away from his harem long enough for Colin to give him the zap-test."

Inside, Donnie is both relieved and disappointed that Colin did not 'zap' him or show he has any sort of power. While it is a relief to not have to deal with what Colin, TJ, and Seth (and possibly Sarah, with that vision of hers) were going through, part of him wished that he was included in their little 'post-human' subclique. At least the others were normal too. Some small satisfaction in that.

Now only if he could figure out if Sylvia and Kel were an item. They were always whispering together, and Donnie did not want to get his hopes up if they were already an item. God, she looks good in that tanktop. Dude stop staring. Jeez. Why do the gorgeous girls always wear clothes like that? I can't help but get distracted..

"Do it at the party, that way it can be done off the cuff, at a moment when he's slipped away from the girls.  Or better yet, when he's with them, that way you can watch to see if they have a reaction."  Kel looks over the group wondering when the entire party thing came up, but trying to play it off as if he were completely aware.

Cool.  Kel heard about the party.  "If Rob flips out about it, you'll have the situation under control, right?"  As far as Sylvia's concerned, Kel is Superman and Spider-Man all wrapped up in one pink-haired, tattooed, knuckle-cracking package.  She feels safer already.

"We'll just say he's had one too many and drag him out."  Kel states simply.
