Megan is in her room sorting out her Halloween costume parts when her dad knocks and announces himself.  A moment later he's poking his head through the door, "Sweetie, you have a couple of minutes?"

At the sound of the knock at her door, Megan quickly placed the real Halloween costumes on what she had been working on as she turned in her ergonomic chair to look at the door as her father came in.  Being able to move very quickly was something that could come in handy.  “Yes daddy, what’s going on?”  She asks with a smile.

He comes in and sits on the corner of the bed.  Megan can tell he seems a little reserved.  "I've been thinking that, with some of the things that have been happening lately over at Oak Park High, that it might be a good idea if I put you in private school over at Fenwick High."  He raises his hands to stop any protest, "Listen, it's a college prepatory school and it's very respected.  I just think that it might not be safe for you to keep going to Oak Park."

Megan could only look at her dad for a moment as her mouth dropped and it felt like she hit a wall going a hundred miles an hour.  When she starts talking, it is a bit quickly, “I’m sure it is just a perfect prep school dad, but I like it at Oak Park, I’m on the cheerleading team and everything.  I know it’s a bit weird with the stuff going on, and I'll remind you that the thing with lab wasn't at Oak Park, or even in Oak Park, but who can say that Fenwick wouldn’t have problems too?  Denise went to Oak Park, and she got into Yale, not that I think I stand a chance at that or anything, and Donnie has been there for two years as well,” suddenly she stopped as the look she was giving her dad hardened some.  “Is Donnie going to be shifted to private school?”

"Well, if we do go ahead with it then yes."  He gets off the bed and goes to look out her window.  "I'm just worried you'll get caught in the middle of something is all.  There was a shooting downtown today, and apparently it was related to this new drug that's going around.  One of the people involved goes to Oak Park."  He sighs in frustration and runs his hands through his hair.  "I just don't want anything to happen to you guys is all."

Megan watches her dad as she listens to the shooting he talks about the shooting today, wondering if she knew who might have been involved in that, not that he could tell from her expression that she was.  Normally she would have immediately figured no one she knew would be involved in some drug shootout, but after Fern’s bazaar make-out session, she couldn’t be so immediately sure.

“Dad, I don’t do drugs, and don’t plan to.  Donnie doesn’t do any either.”  Least that I know of.  She thought.  “Dad, I understand your concern and appreciate it, but you told me awhile ago that we never can know what will happen and can’t always change what we do for fear of what might be.  Something could happen to me just walking down the street let alone at school.”

Megan's father looks at her and smiles.  "When did you get so grown up?"  he asks, coming to give her a hug.  "Maybe I'm just overreacting.  There has been a lot of stuff happening the last couple of weeks, maybe I'm just overly sensetive."  He heads towards the door, "Honey, you'd tell me if there was something wrong right?"

Megan just shrugs as she stands up.  “I don’t know, just happens I guess.”  She intercepts him on his way to the door and gives him a hug.  “I am sure it must be making you a bit crazy with what all is going on lately, especially as you probably have more information that most parents will ever get.  But don’t worry, I would talk to you and mom if something serious was going on.  You have some time to see if there is anything on TV, or have to get ready for meetings tomorrow?”

Her father smiles, "I can spare some time for my little girl.  So long as we don't watch the news, I get enough of that at work."

“That’s no problem,” Megan said with a grin, “who wants to watch depressing old news anyway?”  She went down with her dad and they ended up watching a pay-for-view movie with her mother as well.

Later, after the movie was over and her father went back to his home office to prepare for his busy day tomorrow, Megan was back in her room and picked up her cellphone and called Lisa.  “You so won’t believe the bullet I managed to dodge tonight.”  She says to the older teen as she lies down on her bed.  “Because of all the weird stuff at school my dad was thinking about sending me to Fenwick!  I managed to talk him out of it.”

"Oh, Megan, you have to make sure he doesn't do that.  You think you can enlist your mom or something if it comes up again?"

“Yeah, I know.”  Megan replies as she looks up at her ceiling.  “I think I might be able to get my mom’s help if it comes up again, maybe my brother’s to, that is unless he wants to got to a private prep school.  Well, I got a few things to get to before bed.  See you tomorrow.”

"Okay.  Hey, you're okay with helping the new girl out right?  I'm going to try working on getting Fern back on the team."

“Yeah, I can work with her.  That would be really cool if you can do that, I am sure Fern is majorly bummed right now.  I’ll see you tomorrow.”  Megan then hangs up her phone and sets it down on the bed.  Lying there a few moments, she gets back up and goes back to what she was doing before her father came up to see her.
