In the News

Police arrested several members of a group calling themselves Speed Freaks that have been responsible for numerous assaults on Chicago rug dealers resulting in robbery.  The group, apparently made up of local prostitutes were masqurading as the hero Velocity and using some type of drug to give themselves super speed powers.  Police say that they were able to make several of the arrests due to the help of the actual hero Velocity who joined the police in finding and apprehending these imposters.  Inspector Kevin Kiernan of the Chicago PD's Paranormal Crimes Division said that this type of cooperation between supers and police benefits everyone.  He also stated that the PCD would extend it's assistance to any super in the area that acted in the public interest and with respect for the law.

A drug lab in Chicago was destroyed last night when the abandoned brownstone where it was operating burst into flames and exploded.  Seven people are confirmed dead and fire investigators suspect that this may be the work of a paranormal serial arsonist that has been operating in the area over the past few weeks.  This is the first fire set by the suspected serial arsonist that has resulted in fatalities.

In social news an inside source at the Wayne Foundation reported that Erin Howell, wife of Oak Park Mayor Donald Howell has been asked to serve as teh event coordinator for the charity foundation's Chicago office.  Our source indicates there has been no final decision made but the Chicago office has been told that she might be contacting them to discuss details of the job.

School News

During first period Principal Landis announces that all basement access doors for the school are to be locked at all times and students are forbidden to be in these areas.  Any student found in these areas will be immediately suspended.

Students are advised that there was an incident yesterday involving some bees.  One student and a gym teacher were stung.  Students are told to be extra careful in the gymnasium for the next few days while the school looks into the problem.

School Talk

Rumor is circulating that a few of the other high schools in town have had some pretty bad fights over the last week or so and all of them have been between gangs that are juiced up on Superman.

Rumor is circulating that Colin Crow, a Freshman on the school paper, broke up with Jane Spofford, a Junior.  The most commonly heard reason is that she wouldn't put out.  second most common is because he wouldn't put out.

Rumor has it that Kel Stilley is one of the school ninja.  He apparently lived in Japan for years where he learned the secrets of being a ninja.

Events

During home room announcements Donnie and Kel hear their names called to go to the office to see Principal Landis.
