Donnie hears his name called and leaves to go to the office.  Part way there he is met by a boy with a bat in the hall.

"Got a kiss fo you."  The boy says, taking a swing at Donnie.  The bat lands a solid blow against Donnie.

OOC: Make a toughness Save DC 21.  Also, make a Fate Roll, 3 Will Saves DC 14.  If you plan to put up a fight then I need 3 attack rolls and 3 toughness rolls.

"JESUS CHRIST!"  Donnie hollers loudly as the bat swings at him.

Donnie is not gonna fight another big kid wielding a bat. He takes off at high speeds. If the bat wielder follows him, he will wait until the guy almost has him, then open a random classroom that has people in it and dive in.

Donnie's head is swiming as he hits the floor and slides into some lockers.

Colin and Sammy (in the same class at this time - Fate Rolls) hear Donnie yel from the hall (Colin knows it's Donnie's voice)  and then the sound of a bat hitting meat pretty hard.

The teacher goes to the door and opens it, both Colin and Sammy can see a big kid in the hall with a bat.  The teacher yells, "You, stop that."  The kid ignores the teacher and moves towards his target in the hall.

The teacher turns to get the phone and call the office.

 

There's no time to be covert or really to think too much about what to do.  Sammy stands up at her desk and aims a blast of wind at the bigger kid.  "Stop it!"  It might just look like she's standing up and pointing at the fight.

Although the blast of air misses the thug, Sammy yelling draws his attention.  He turns and looks into the room, right at Sammy.  The scream is primal and monstrous and he charges towards her, sweeping desks and students away as he comes, his bat raised up and a beserker fury in his eyes.

Damn.  There's no way of hiding this time, and she can't let him any further into the room where other kids might get hurt.  "Everybody down!"  She  sets up her defensive field.  Bits of chalk dust, scraps of notebook paper, crumbs from erasers, and other small classroom detritus get caught up in the mass of air swirling around her.  She floats in the direction of the door and tries to block the attacker.

OOC:  it is okay if she is outed.  I've been expecting it, yea, even hoping for it.  She on the other hand will not be pleased, but she'll just have to live with it.

Donnie staggers to his feet. He knows Colin is in that class, and he feels that he needs to protect him for some reason. God, I wish I knew more spells! He goes to the doorway to see if the kid was going after Colin.

Sammy summons up her force field and debris starts to swirl around the room.  With a thought she clears the desks and students away to make a clear path to the thug.

Colin sees this, as does Donnie when he reaches the door.

The bat comes down on the forcefield and immediately bounces off.

Sammy looks scornfully at him, in a way that only a 14 year old girl can master.  "Come on, I dare you.  Try it again."

She tries to blast him again.

Colin and Donnie witness Sammy hurl a blast of air at the thug, but it seems to have little effect against him.

The thug pulls back for another blow, grabs the bat with both hands and comes down hard, connecting with a solid hit.

Sammy cries out.

OOC: Assuming you will spend your Hero Point to not go down.

The bat slams down on the forcefield, sending fragments of wood flying in every direction and knocking Sammy back a step.  she felt the shockwaves ripple along the air currents that protect her.

A second later there is a screeching sound from just over Donnie's shoulder, and the air ripples as somthing becomes visible, something with wings.

It's small, but it's obviously a dragon, and it's hissing like it's pissed off.  It glides through the air and then lands on the teachers desk, hissing at the thug menacingly, as menacingly as a large cat with wings might his.

Donnie looks agog at the small dragon."P-P-Pip?"  He immediately looks around for Sylvia.

Shaken but not defeated, Sammy tries again to blast her attacker.

OOC:  yes to using the hero point.  Blast roll is Strike 3? (1d20=3) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=682805)  Stupid random number generator grumble grumble grumble.

The thug pauses for a moment, it's attention drawn to Pip.  He lets loose with a roar and raises both hands over his head, bringing them down hard.  The blows shatters part of the desk, but the little dragon merely hopped to the right easily avoiding the blow.  With a gleam in it's eye it looks up at the thug and it's tounge darts out of it's mouth, then back in.  There is intelligence in it's gaze, it's taunting the thug.

With a flap of it's wings the dragon leaves the desk and then darts in close, biting the thug on the shoulder.  The thug screams in pain and grabs his shoulder, falling to the floor while he seems to pale and turn a somewhat greenish color.

Pip then flaps again and lands on Donnie's shoulder, facing the thug and hissing his displeasure.

ohmygodohmygodohMYGOD! Donnie's hand clutches at his throat, where Pip's tail wrapped loosely around him. He felt the little dragon's claws prick his shoulder through the shirts and fervently prays that Pip is really there and Sylvia is not messing with his head again. "Pip. Oh God. Pip! Is this real?"

With a sense of satisfaction, Sammy watches the thug drop to the floor.  Then she realizes what has happened.  Floating in midair, the force field still spinning madly about her, she gazes at the frightened faces of her classmates and her teacher, some of whom are staring at the attacker, some of whom are staring at her.  She drops the field, drops out of the air, and stumbles back a step over a broken desk.   "I... it... oh God, my mom... "   She bolts for the open door.

OOC: I rolled a 2 for eywitnesses.  Everyone is cowering head down.  sorry, but you haven't been outtede quite yet.

Colin tries to do something, but his desk is in the back of the class, and he finds a barrage of cowering students in front of him. as he struggles to get through - Whetever he does to me, I'm not gonna let him beat Donnie to a pulp. And if the witches are behind this, there will be a reckoning, I swear! - he sees that a girl has stepped forward to stop the crazed boy. She seems to be using blasts of air to attack him and keep him at a distance. He fears he may be too strong for her though, maybe he has taken some superman.

"God and Great Spirit, let me go!" he shouts, and finally he manages to reach the scene. In time to see a little dragon come to their defense. "What the-" That's when he finally notices the girl is floating about a foot from the floor. Is she... the UFG? He stares at her for a moment, and she seems to have a break down and runs away. "No, wait!" He'd like to go after her, but he has to check on Donnie first.

He calmly approaches his friend, as the dragon perched on his shoulder seems quite angry at the moment.
"Donnie, is it all right? Did he hurt you? Can I help?" he looks closely at him to see if he's bruised or bleeding. "Is that a friend of yours?" he points at the dragon.

Pip leans out and sniffs at Colin as he approaches.  His hissing quiets some and he nuzzles his head against Donnie's, making a sound that could be thought of like a purr.  Sudden;y his head pops up and he looks into the hallway, then with a ripple of the air he's gone.

Two of the campus police and the Principal Landis arrive, the principal seems to be a bit out of breath.  The police arrest the other boy after hearing the teacher explain that he saw the boy trying to cave Donnie's head in with a bat in the hall.  The principal checks with Donnie's class, and they confirm they heard him get called to the office.  The principal explains that there was no such message.  While they're sorting everything out he principal's walkie-talkie chatters something about a disturbance on the west side of campus, and he jogs off to see what that's all about, telling Donnie to see the school nurse if he thinks he needs to and go back to class.

OOC:  Thanks for giving me a staring witness!  Otherwise I'd have felt very silly.

Convinced that her secret is out and that she's going to be suspended for having unreported powers AND for fighting at school, a panicked Sammy speeds down the hall, leaving all of her books   and her other personal property behind in the classroom.  She wants to warn her mother so that Mom can be prepared for whatever happens.

In the hallway, not sure exactly how to go about getting a hold of her mother Sammy hears an announcement over the PA.

"Samantha Jameson, please report to the administration office, Samantha Jameson please report to the administration office."

Resigning herself to what will come Sammy goes to the admin office.  She checks in with the front desk and tells them who she is.  "Oh, thank heavens dear.  They took a head count from your class and were worried you'd been hurt."  The lady at the desk got a walki-talkie off the rack, "Principal Landis, Admin here."

"Go ahead."

"Ms. Jameson is here sir, she looks pretty shook up but not hurt."

"Ok.  Send her down to the lunch room to meet back up with her class then."

The administrator comes over and puts a hand on Sammy's shoulder, "Seems like you're the only one with any sense at all honey.  You must'a run out of there, everyone else just hit the floor and covered their heads like turtles."  she fills out a hall pass and hands it to Sammy.  "Take this, your class is meeting down in the lunch room until next bell, okay?"

Sammy takes the hall pass and nods, turning she numbly exits the office and goes to the lunch room.  They have the studetns from her class there, and Colin gives her her books as she comes in.

OOC: Colin is so nice I assume he does this.

Donnie's mind is awhirl, but he gives Sammy a big smile when she comes in to the lunch room. He is waiting next to Colin to thank her for intervening. "I don't know how to thank you. You probably saved my life in there. Hey, just to let you know, you are not alone with the powers and all. Colin thinks you were the one at the party that caught Kel, right? Anyway, a number of kids here are showing powers, and trouble seems to follow them, uh, us." Donnie hands her a slip of paper with the phone numbers of his cell, Dave's, Colin's, and Sylvia's. "We are having ameeting tonight with a real member of the Avengers over all the wierd happenings at the school, and to discuss the current Witchcraft problem."

At Sam's blank look, he elaborates. "There is a coven of witches in the school here, casting spells on people. They were the cause of the Snake-man spirit at the Janush party, and they did some horrible stuff to Colin as well. Please, if you can join us at Sylvia's house, we'd love to have you there. Dave can pick you up if you need a ride. He is getting most of us anyway."

ooc: assuming this happens aftr Sylvia tells everyone about the ok on the meeting at her house.

Samantha cautiously replies "Oh, is that what was going on the other day when I saw that girl fall down the stairwell?  Kel told me  something about his friend being hurt, and he was going to take care of the problem, and he asked for backup...  but I couldn't figure out"  (thinking) what side you guys were on "what was really happening there, so I stayed out of it."  She smiles slightly and says in explanation for knowing Kel has powers,  "Kel was the only one I could identify from the Janush party, so I contacted him a couple of days ago."

She extends her right hand.  "My name is Samantha.  I'm glad I could help you today."


OOC:  Consider the conversation split.

OOC: I'm not sure I got how you split the conversations, anyway this is supposed to happen when Colin first meets Sammy after the incident.

Colin gives her the books he retrieved.
"Samantha, I'm Colin Crow and I'm very glad to finally meet you. I have been wanting to thank you for your help since the party, but... I had no idea who you were. What you did today is great. I hope that boy didn't hurt, did he?"
He is seriously worried, as if he felt somehow responsible of what happened.

OOC:  I just meant that I understand that the phone numbers will not be given to Sammy until later, so I won't discuss it here.



"You're welcome, Colin.  I'm okay.  The air around me took most of the force out of the blows.  I just got a little freaked out by things, that's all.  I've been trying to keep my powers a secret, and I was afraid that people saw me."  She gestures at bruised and battered Donnie.  "Nobody else got hurt, did they?"

"Nope. Not here at least. I heard there was another fight somewhere else. Anyway, if that is yor wish, no one will know of your powers from me. You may consider though, having lunch with us sometimes. Being... special can make you feel quite lonely sometimes. You'll always be welcome with us."

"Thanks... my powers are a kind of family secret, and I'd rather that outsiders didn't know about them.  Believe me, I know how lonely it is to be special."
