Everyone is in the class before last period.  There are a few people fidgiting and a few already yawning with the excitement of the day.

Colin is in class, finishing up the latest assignment when the teacher breaks the general silence of the room.

"Mr. Anderson, do you plan on turning this assignment in?"

"Not really."  Anderson replies.

"Since you don't intend to work on the assignment, why don't you go to the principals office and explain that to him.  You're not going to get anywhere in this world if you don't work at it Mr. Ansderson."

"Sure."  Anderson replies.  He takes his bag and exits the room.

A near silence returns to the classroom as everyone goes back to work.  It doesn't last though, because a few minutes later Randy Anderson opens the door, stepping into the room with something that looks right out of a sci-fi movie.  It's some kind of weapon looking thing, a rifle type gizmo with some flashing lights and a low hum.

"I decided to work at getting somewhere."  With that he raises the weapon.

"No!!! Get under your desks!"

Colin follows his own advice, ducking under his desk, and looking at Anderson's legs from there.

"Randy, please, don't do it! Why don't we talk about it for a moment? Are you sure this is the best thing to do? We could maybe find a better solution." he says, while gallons of adrenaline get pumped in his blood, trying his beast to keep his voice even and reasonable. He also fumbles in his pocket to get out the commlink T.J. gave him.

"Puleeease."  Randy says and Colin hears a sound that must be the weapon firing.  There is a brief scream from the instructor and Colin can hear his body hit the floor.  It's at this point that other people in the room begin to scream.

Two doors down from this classroom Seth and the people in his class can hear the screams from the room up the hall.

OOC: Initiative Order is Randy, Colin, Seth.  Initiative order just began when Randy took his action, which makes it Colin's action.

Colin finally gets the commlink out of his pocket, and pushes the red button. T.J. can likely hear the screams of Colin's classmates.

"T.J. I need help. Fast. Room 23." he whispers into it with a broken voice.

Blackbird? Is the teacher still alive? Does he need my help? I need something to distract Randy so he won't shoot anyone else. Anything will be fine, really.

He struggles with the fear that threaten to swallow his mind, the screams, the tears that are welling up in his eyes. He tries to put his thoughts away.

STOP IT!!!!

He finally manages to get a moment of silence in his mind, and he tries to reach into his heart to the place where the One Tongue comes from, where the song that made the rain fall on the bees comes from, and pours all himself in it. He lets everything go, his fear, his anger, his feeling of impotence, his desire to protect his classmates, to not let the teacher die, his love for life and for all the people in his life. He doesn't even try to give it a shape, he's sure that as the rain came down because rain was needed, so this time too, if he's lucky, spirits will send him exactly what he needs even if he has no idea what it is. He opens his mouth and lets the words go.

Colin utters a string of words that no one understands, but the world vibrates with results.

Suddenly the fire alarm goes off, and with it the sprinklers in this room.  A rapid series of pops accompanies the breaking of all the florescent light tubes, and then smoke begins to fill the room.  There is a sound like camera flash bulbs going off and Colin can hear Randy curseing.  He hears the door open, then close again.

The screams of panic intensify, and then there is a voice yelling over the screams.

"Everyone remain calm, you need to evacuate.  Let's move it people."  The screamin begins to fade and there is a figure in the smoke helping people out from under desks and guiding them towards the door.  "It's going to be alright, just stay calm and do as I say and we'll get you out of here."

Colin can't make out and details of the figure, but he recognizes the voice.  His father's.

Colin opens his eyes with a start.

That voice...

It strikes deep into his heart. He hasn't heard that voice in ten years, but he'd recognize it anywhere.

Could it be...

He cautiously peeks over the desk. He looks for Randy, to see what he's doing, for the teacher, to see if he could be able to help him out of the room, for his classmates, to see if they're moving out and to urge them on if they aren't, and finally to the door.

Is he really...

OOC: I guess it's Seth's turn now, so I'll wait till you tell me I can act again.

Sarah was actually taking notes when the fire alarm goes off.  School could be a royal pain but World History wasn't so bad.  So much more interesting than the way they taught American history.  She was ready to travel back in time and deal with those pilgrims pretty harshly herself by the end of it. 

The godawful noise sends her into action and her bag is packed and over her shoulder before the teacher can even get out the words, "Leave your stuff and file out the door.  She ducks into the hall walking quickly and digs out her cellphone sending an IM to Colins number.  Meet me @ prk lot? -Sarah

He just got a phone, I wonder if he even knows how to IM yet?  Or even has the service?  Worst that happens is it gets blown into space.

Sarah moves towards the exit figuring it's one of the fun 'suprise' fire drills they love to pop on the student population all the time. 

As the fire alarm goes off, Megan starts to get up with the rest of the class as she thinks about the fact she has her Velocity costume with her today for a change, having had to come right back to school after dropping Katie off at the airport.  Quickly grabbing her bag, she leaves everything else as she heads out the door with the rest of the class, figuring she could not really get away without being missed, at least not initially.  Besides, she thinks, what good will it do to run around at high speed if there is a fire?  If we get out and there is a fire, maybe I can get away and make sure no one is trapped, but otherwise, best to just stick with the class.

Donnie grabs his backpack, pausing as the class heads towards the door.  Hmm. I'm getting paranoid in my old age. Better safe than sorry.  He drops to one knee, as if tying his shoe as the kids form his class swirl around him towards the doors, chattering like magpies. While on the floor, he sketches the symbols for his Bitch Patrol spell, muttering the words of power under his breath. Once complete, he stands and joins the rest of his class, eyes peeled for guys with baseball bats or the familiar picture of one of the witches whos pictires he memorized from the yearbook.

Kel sighs, it's either a drill or a real fire, either way, he slowly makes his way out along with the rest of the classes, looking for anyone he knows.

Sammy stifles a cheer at the sound of the alarm.  She grabs her pack and hopes that it takes a while for the fire department to show up and say its a false alarm, if its not just a drill.  Maybe school will be dismissed early!  She steadily makes her way out of the building and tries to figure out  if she has enough cash on her to make a trip to the Tasty Dog.

As she moves down the hallway with her class, merging into the others as they head towards their exit, Megan looks around for any of the other girls from the cheerleading squad, or Sarah, or even Sylvia.  The pace a little faster than a normal drill, which makes Megan think it might be an actual alarm, or at least one that was pulled.  Up ahead of her, she thinks she spots the boy that had the little dragon, another Donnie she seemed to remember. 

Sylvia, who'd been daydreaming through freshman geometry, snaps awake at the sound of the fire alarm.  What's going on?  Drill?  No, not a drill, since Mr. Poincare drops his chalk in surprise and loosens his bowtie.  She gets up to follow the rest of the class in orderly fashion out into the hallway, but where a month ago she might have gone docilely into the main courtyard to await the fire department, she now feels a responsibility to do something about the situation, something heroic.

She drops back from the herd and looks around for the other Usual Suspects, who might have developed the same instinct to fight crime, if not fire.  Donnie's supposed to be down here, isn't he?

Seth's inevitable descent into sleep, in boring boring history class was interrupted by a scream. He can't quite get up out of his seat without drawing attention, but soon the fire alarm goes off, and Seth is up and out.

Pretending not to hear his teacher, Seth wades against the flow of escaping students. Two doors down and he see's Colin leaning behind a desk.

"Colin. What's going on? Are you OK."

As Colin looks up, Randy is nowhere to be seen. He jumps up and helps the last ones of his classmates on their feet and out of the door, the he goes to check on the teacher. He looks pale, and sickly, but, thank God and the Great Spirit, he's breathing. Colin tries to take both the man's arms around his neck, and to lift him on his back, to carry him out before Randy changes his mind and comes back to finish the job. So he raises his eyes towards the door, and through the smoke he sees him.

He's in his uniform, like the last time Colin saw him. Father and son look deep into each other's eyes, then the father smiles, the bright, warm smile that Colin remembered most fondly of him. It's just a moment though, and then he fades away in the smoke.

"No, wait! DAD!!!" Colin shouts, but he's gone.

He staggers toward the door, but the teacher weighs a little too much for him, and he falls on his knees. Then another figure comes through the smoke. Colin looks up expectantly and...


Colin sighs. "Oh, it's you Seth. I'm fine, but I need help carrying Mr. Jordan. He was shot with... something and he needs help immediately. Please take him from the left and I'll take him from the right."

The two boys together drag the teacher out into the corridor and to the nearest fire exit where they lay Mr. Jordan down.

"Seth, it was a classmate of mine, Randy Anderson. He came into the class with this... rifle out of sci-fi movie or something and he shot him. I dunno where he is now, but he must be stopped before he hurts himself or someone else. "

Then he calls loudly for help, as he takes another look at the teacher's injuries. He looks at his hands for a moment, wondering if he can ask for the spirits' help again so soon. He tries anyway to empty his mind to the his heart do his job. But it's incredibly difficult. His father fills both of them in this moment, and he cannot bring himself to get rid of his image. Praying for the best, he presses his hands on Mr. Jordan's chest.

Colin feels the warmth sucked from him, filling some unseen void in Mr. Jordan.  The smoke floating from the room forms into the wisps of spirits and then Mr. Jordan inhales them.  One, then another, then he coughs.  The coughing fit lasts for a moment and some of the other teachers come to check on him.  He has more color, and stops coughing.  They help him up and continue with the evacuation.  He weakly explains to the other teachers what happened with Randy and they notify campus police.

Colin is drenched because of the spinklers, and the cold wind outside the school makes him shudder. As more teachers come to check on Mr. Jordan, he slips away. He looks at his hands again and see them tremble. He feels so cold, within and without. He realizes he's maybe overtaxing himself, but he feels he has not done everything he can yet.

He checks his cellphone, because he thinks he felt it vibrate before, and finds Sarah's message. He smiles but he thinks there's something he has yet to do before he can go to the parking lot to meet her.

Blackbird, do you know where Randy is now? I'm afraid he could shoot himself if he isn't found soon.

As Sammy reaches the ground floor, she realizes that this isn't just another fire drill.  The evacuation route is slightly different than expected as the crowd is diverted away from where the incident occurred.  She can hear panic in some of the teachers voices as they pass the word about a boy with a strange gun bursting into one of the classrooms and shooting at least one person.  She can smell the fear rising from the crowd urgently pressing to exit the building.  Turning around to go back into the building would only draw attention, and might endanger someone who tried to chase after her to stop her.  She waits until she gets outside, then dashes for the football field where she can use the stands to cover her as she flies into the air and then back to the main building.

Sylvia pulls Carolyn's cell phone out of her tote and flips it open, dialing Colin.  He always seems to know what's going on, and if she's looking for trouble, he seems like a good place to start.  Still, she keeps her eyes peeled for more of her friends.

When she finds a quiet nook, maybe the recessed doorway of a bathroom, she tries to blend in against the door, disguising her outline with an illusion of a mop and bucket or something likewise unnoticeable and inconsequential.

Colin feels his cellphone vibrate again, more insistently. This time it's Sylvia calling him.

"Hi. I've got a situation here. Problems there too?"

"No-o," Sylvia says, "but I had a feeling you'd be somewhere near the heart of this.  Where are you?"

Sarah was a bit mystified by the reactions outside at first, mostly paying attention to her phone for a return message from Colin.  The alert bells finally go off and she starts wondering if it was yet another problem with witches or drugs. 
And Colin isn't answering me.  I am so getting paranoid.
She dials Colin and waits...

Megan continued along with the rest of her class as they were quickly ushered outside and to the faculty parking lot which was their class assembly point.  The looks on the teachers’ faces told her that this had not been a drill, but she could not see any smoke, so figured it might just be some student pulling an alarm. 

With nothing much else to do but mingle and none of the other girls from the cheerleading squad around, she took the opportunity to talk to a cute boy from her class that was on the wrestling team.

"I'm... just out of the fire exit to the west, near the football field. There's a boy with... some kind of energy gun, I don't know. He shot the teacher in my class, and... I'm afraid he could hurt himself or someone else if he isn't found soon. I think the teacher is fine now though, I... well I tried to help. The alarm and everything is probably my fault."

Colin's phone complained that another call was incoming. Sarah.

"Sylvia, wait just a moment." he puts her call on hold.

"Hey, wondergirl. Sorry I didn't answer, but I had some trouble."
He quickly explains her too what happened and where he is, but he is interrupted by a loud sneeze.
"I have Sylvia on the phone too, do you think you could sneak here? There's more... but it's got to wait till I see you."

He puts Sarah on hold and takes Sylvia's call again. "Do you think you can pick up Sarah and sneak here?"

"Yeah, definitely."  Sylvia gets Sarah's location from Colin and starts heading that way even before they end the conversation.

Donnie is looking around, one of the stragglers of his class. Sylvia should have a class on this floor right now..

And that's the moment that she crosses his path, going through a cross-corridor, headed for Sarah.

"SYL!" Donnie quick-steps to catch up with her. "What's up?"

"Going for Sarah, meeting Colin.  Bad news.  Big guns.  Come with?"

"As if I'd miss it."  

Inside, he shudders a bit. I need to learn more spells.

Sylvia gives him a nod and resumes the path to Sarah.  Her eyes are all a-glitter in anticipation of smacking bad guys or, at least, watching Sarah smack bad guys.

Sammy stashes her belongings in a convenient, easy to remember spot beneath the bleachers.  She texts a message to Kel,  I go 2 roof  then dwn ok? C U bye, checks to make sure her cell is on vibrate not ring, then flies back towards the school.  She doesn't have any kind of disguise, so she's hoping nobody bothers to look up.  She heads for the rooftop of the main building and looks around.

"I'll be waiting behind an SUV... a blue one."  she tells Colin before hanging up.  Sarah moves out of the line of sight of the student body in the parking lot.  For once I'm glad these stupid SUV's block out the sun.

She looks around for a sight of Sylvia.  Will I even see her coming?  Is she disguised as this SUV I'm hiding behind?  That would be funny.  Except for the part where I scream my lungs out in suprise and ruin the whole sneaky aspect of the plan.

While she's waiting she gives her mental companion a heads up.  Hey Morpheus! Afternoon!  Can you watch my back again like the other night?  We've got a high-tech shooter out here somewhere.

The area around Kel is filled with Blue Oyster Cult's Godzilla, as his phone rings.  He flips it open, and looks down at the message, slightly baffled by it then slowly recognizing the number he sends a quick response: something going dwn? should i come?

Colin waits impatiently for Sarah and Sylvia to show up, looking around for his spirit guide.

Blackbird?! Where are you? I need your help, or at least your eyes. Where is Randy now?

It's likely that Sylvia and Donnie make their way to Sarah looking like a pair of the nigh-invisible janitorial staff.  Maybe they're jogging across the grass, and maybe their illusions are saying to one another, in English instead of, say, Spanish, "That's not blue.  That's, like, midnight."

"Midnight is blue."

"Not really.  It's sort of a black with blue tinges."

"Oh, please."

"Trust me.  I'm an artist.  I know colors.  That's not blue.  That's midnight.  See that there?  That might be blue."

They're heading toward Sarah now.

With a rush of forward movement Colin's eyesight leaves his body and flies trhough the door into the building.  It soars down the hall and then up the stairs to the third floor, taking a corner tight it races towards the end of the hall and then pauses at the door, Room 317.  Then, with a bending of the light it slips under the door into the room.  There is Randy, working on the ray gun.

"Damn sprinklers.  Got the whole damn thing wet."  He's hitting it, then flipping some switches.  Suddenly the ray gun hums to life and the vision ends.  Colin's eyesight slams back into his head as some of the other usual suspects arrive on the scene.

"Colin what is it. You keep on getting these far off looks in you eyes. I think you might be going into shock.

Sit down, until everyone else gets here. Just sit down."

Seth's brows furrowed. He was worried about Colin. He was pale and not all with it upstairs.

He seriously might be ill.

Sarah glances at the janitors but keeps looking around for Sylvia. 

Would Sylvia dress up like a janitor?

Sarah looks closely at the janitors and tries to determine if these were real janitors or just a clever illusion. 

Hardly clever.  Sylvia, the dumpy-looking janitor with the bad highlights in her hair, crouches to look under the vehicles in the hope that their clearance off the ground will give her a better chance to spot Sarah's sneakers.  "How 'bout that one over there?" she's saying.  "That's sort of blue.  Or is that indigo?" she asks, throwing Donnie a look.

"Jeebus. Pip, find Sarah, would you?" Pip pops into existance over the two 'janitors" and quickly wings high in the air. "Ok, she's over next to that one."  The two teens hustle over to the SUV in time to see Pip reclining in the arms of Sarah, who was doing her usual best to spoil him rotten.

"Whose da smartest widdle dwagon den?" asks Sarah softly as she rubs under the dragons little chin.  She looks up at the two janitors as the approach.  "Got another outfit?  Let's get over to Colin as quick as we can so we don't lose track of him."

The dumpy janitor winks, and like that, there are three of them, moving across the parking lot with the purposeful looks of professional sanitation technicians.

As his eyes comes back where they belong, Colin takes a step back, and rubs them energically.

When he looks up he sees Seth's worried look.

"I'm fine, I was just... elsewhere. I know where he is now. Sarah and Sylvia are getting here too. Though I don't know if we'll see them coming.

He sees more people coming round the corner from the parking lot. Three janitors maybe.

yes! teachers sed guy shot sumbody.  i m looking 4 him, top down.

Kel, now phone on vibrate, checks it and sends back, already slipping off as best as he can: ill take dwn up.  He then rushes in, moving as quick as he can through the halls checking for any stragglers or of course, some guy toting a weapon.

Sammy soars over the roof and does a quick survey.  If it is all clear, she lands, finds a door leading to the interior of the building, and goes in.  She quietly and carefully goes down to the 4th floor and cautiously begins a room to room check.  When a building is this big, not all of the rooms have windows; otherwise she would have worked her way around the outside of the building, peeking through classroom windows as she moved along.

One of them points at him, and the trio head toward Colin.  When they get close enough, one gives their surroundings a nervous look and says, "Where's the guy with the gun?"

"Oh."

Colin squints, and manages to see through Sylvia' illusion.

"Hi Donnie. Seth, these are Sylvia, Sarah and Donnie." he points at each of them.

"He was in room 317 a moment ago. And he's probably not going to shoot himself, he seems more angry than depressed. The sprinklers -" he gestures at his wet clothes "- jammed his rifle, but now it's working again, so he's quite dangerous, and I don't think I can do the same trick twice. I'm feeling... a little drained at the moment. What do you suggest? Oh, he's Randy Anderson, do you know him? He shot Mr. Jordan and God and the Great Spirit only know what else he would have done. How do you think we should go back in? As firemen? Guards? I think once in you should probably make some false targets, like you did at the party. Is it difficult for you?"

"Define difficult," Sylvia says, dropping her illusion.  "As long as Randy's not shooting at me, I'll probably be okay."

"That honestly I can't promise. I tried to talk to him before, and it didn't work."

Colin looks down.

"I'm afraid that if the police bursts in, they'll end up shooting him. If we could find a way to stop him before anyone else gets hurt... I don't want to put any of you in danger though. Maybe if we could just distract him enough for Pip to sneak on him and bite him?"

Sylvia nods, ready to go to battle.  She can cover Pip, she's pretty sure.  Moreover, she's thinking all Sarah needs is to get close enough, and Randy's going to be picking his teeth out of the acoustic tile in the drop ceiling.

As long as i can have line of sight on it, I can start to take it apart, damage it, whatever. I just need to be able to see it, in whatever capacity. Colin if you can show it to me or something I can work on it from here. I think anyway. I may even be able to wrestle it away from him.

Seth kinda shrugged. He really wasn't sure about being able to see it, but he had a theory that that's the way his TK worked, and so that's the what he beleived.

He also beleived that he had some sort of way to extend his sense of touch, because he could move things once they left his sight, even though it was more difficult to co-ordinate, but he still "knew" when he was holding something.

He needed to see if he could expand that sense, but that was something for a nother time.

OOC: Technically you don't get a Will Save until you've interacted with an illusion some.  Just a note for future reference.

If Sammy doesn't see anything on the 4th floor, she sends a message to Kel "4 is clr.  Going to 3."  Then she carefully and quietly goes down a flight of stairs to the 3rd floor.

The short janitor shakes his head sadly and Sarah's voice says, "Great, and there's a whole school full of kids and teachers on the front lawn for Randy to pick off.  Sorry Colin but I really don't have much of a problem with the cops coming in right now except that his fancy gun might bang right through their armor.  We gotta go right now.  Does anybody know which window is room 317?  Seth could you do anything to block or catch his bullets or something?" 

Sarah smacks her head  "I'm a reject!  Call Megan.  She can run circles around this guy and if nothing else keep him busy until we get there."

Donnie looks at Sylvia. "You got her number in your phone, right? SInce you are both on the pep squad?"  He turns to the others. "We could ambush him. Sylvia could make us all look like a row of lockers or something and Seth could yank the gun out of his hands. Give it to Pip and he'll make quick work of the gun."

Sylvia whips out her phone and gives Megan a quick call to apprise her of the situation.

Megan was in the middle of flirting when her phone rang.  Taking it out with a slight annoyed feeling and noted it was Sylvia, which seemed a bit odd, she never called her.  Flipping it open she held it up to her ear.  “Hey Sylvia, what’s up?”  She listed as the other girl quickly explained what all was going on.  Though her face remained cheerful and otherwise unconcerned with the fire alarm, Megan felt a big tug of responsibility at helping, particularly given the fact she had her costume with her.  Damn it!  She thought as she gave in.  “Okay, I’ll be right over!”

Closing the phone, she gave the wrestler a apologetic smile.  “Sorry, that was Sylvia.  Got some cheerleading stuff I need to go talk with her about.  Let Mrs. Martin know is she is looking for me?”  She started to turn away, but stopped and looked back.  “Say, you wouldn’t want to go see a movie Saturday would you?”  After getting her answer, she then hurries away and heads down to the football field.  Once she is clear of any of other students and teachers, she finds a secluded place to change (which only took a few seconds) and hide her stuff and then is off in a flash back to the school and an entrance to get up to the third floor.

I don't think so. Maybe with practice, but i don't think so.

Sarah the janitor nods to Seth, "Then lets get inside before he starts picking people off.  I'm sure Velocity is two steps away by now so we're already late for the party."

Sarah looks to Sylvia and heads towards the door. 

Sylvia gives Sarah, in that moment, a look of helpless passivity.  Sarah's the deejay.  Sylvia's just the light show.

Sammy is making her way down the hall when she sees a blur come into the hall from the stairs.  The color suggests it's Velocity.

A moment later a student comes out of one of the rooms a few doors down with a strange humming ray gun type device.  He turns and starts to head towards the stairs.

"Yes, let's go. But be really careful when we get near the third floor. He had just finished to repair his gun, and he looked ready to move."

Colin waits for Sylvia to cloud them in her illusion, then leads the way in. There is something that tugs at his memory, but he's too worried now to pay it attention.

Sammy ducks into a niche and texts another message to Kel.  "I C shooter on 3 @ stairs! Vel here 2."  She puts the phone into a pocket and activates her force field.  Slowly she floats towards the shooter, coming up from behind him if at all possible.

Velocity and Sammy both see the boy with the ray gun heading towards the stairs.

As he's going he spots Velocity down the hall, and stops.  He turns around to go the other way, at which time he spots Sammy.

"Dammit!"

As Velocity spots the kid with the weird ray gun and sees Sammy down the hall from him, she rushes forward, skidding to a stop in front of Randy as she feels a rush of wind go by.  “Hey there, sorry, but target practice is cancelled for the rest of the day.”   She says with a grin as her right hand flashes almost to fast to be seen to try to hit him across the jaw.

As soon as Kel gets the message, he's off in a flash up the stairs, heading as best as he can for the third floor, ready to pound his fist into the shooter's head.

Velocity connects her fist with Randy's jaw and his head pops to the side from the force.

"COW!"  comes from his lips and he cuts loose with a blast that goes wide and misses Velocity but melts a jagged line out of the wall turning the plaster and cement to liquid in an instant.

(ooc When Velocity’s turn comes up again)

“Cow?  You need to get your eyes checked.”  Velocity quips back, but was a little worried about being hit by that ray gun as her fits flashes out again aimed at his nose. 

(ooc another strike, rolled a 20, http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=753360 DC 19 hit.  If the punch puts him down, that will be the end of Velocity’s action, if not, then the below takes place)

When Randy takes another hit she then grins and says, “Catch me if you can!”  And then is off down the hall towards a corner.  Passing Sammy, she quickly says, “lets try to get him to follow.”  Once she reaches a corner, she will zoom around it and out of sight.

OOC: or Initiative logic it's currently Sammy's turn, then Velocity and then Randy.

(ooc well, we never rolled initiatives, but was just posting that for when I came up again)

OOC: Are we there yet?  Is it much farther?  Can we stop for ice cream?

Samantha takes aim and releases another blast of air.  It'd be very nice if she knocked the gun out of his hands, but it would be even nicer to knock him on his butt.  "Boys and their toys...  you'll put your eye out, kid!"

"Uh..." She gathers her composure and shouts "THAT WAS JUST A WARNING SHOT!  SURRENDER NOW BEFORE YOU GET HURT!"  Smooth, Sammy.  Now you're a dork on top of being someone who can't hit the side of a barn with a snowplow.  If you're lucky, he'll laugh so hard at you that somebody else will actually be able to do something.

OOC:  I want chocolate, and lots of it.  With chocolate bits in it.  And chocolate sauce over top.  In a chocolate-dipped waffle cone.

Sammy lets looswe a blast of wind that throws debris down the hall but fails to hit Randy.  He begins to shift his attention when Velocity hits him again, this time sending him reeling back several steps to collapse on the floor unconscious.

At this point Kel emerges from the stairwell onto the floor and sees Randy go down.

The others will arrive in a few moments.

Breathing a sight of relief that neither her nor Sammy were about to be shot at again by that wired ray gun as the teen goes down, Velocity rushes over to pick up the gun.  Looking over at Sammy she grins as she sees Kel appear out of the stairwell.  “Watch him, I’ll take this out to the police if they have arrived so they know he is disarmed and tell them not to storm the building shooting.”  She then is out through the door Kel just came through before it closed behind him and running down towards an exit to find either the principle, campus police or the real police.

Sammy looks at Kel and shrugs her shoulders, then walks over to the prone Randy Anderson.  "I suppose we should check to see if he's still alive."

Sammy pulls her cell out, holds the shiny metallic surface over Randy's mouth for a moment and looks for condensation on the phone.  "Yup.  Still breathing.  Who gets to sit on him while we wait?"

Velocity arrives down in the parking lot where the staff and students are as units of Oak Park's finest begin to arrive.

The rest of the usual suspects arrive on the third floor to see Kel and Sammy standing over an unconscious Randy.

Sammy waves her hand half-heartedly, a frustrated expression on her face. She is not happy about having messed up so badly. 
"Hi guys.  What's up?"

It takes Colin a moment to realize what happened, since he was expecting to be shot any moment now. When he notices that Randy is disarmed and only seems out of it rather than shot, he lets out a deep sigh of relief. And he sneezes loudly.

"Sorry about that. It looks like the problem has already been settled. Is anyone hurt? You guys sure are fast. You got here even before Velocity."

Colin lets himself down with his back on the wall.

"Where's his gun? God and Great Spirit, I think I've been this scared only once before. Twice, actually. Randy, what the hell got into your mind?" he asks the unconscious body.

Seeing the police starting to arrive, Velocity ran over to them, coming to a halt at the lead car as the officers started to get out and hopping up to sit down on the hood of the car.  Looking at the officer with a smile, she said, “Good afternoon officers, I’m Velocity…if you couldn’t have guessed that.  Here is the shooter’s weapon.”  She said, holding up the weapon with one hand holding it in the middle to it was perpendicular to her body.  “Be careful, it might look like a kid’s toy, but I saw it melt concrete.” 

“The guy is unconscious up on the third floor over…”   She glances back at the building and points in the general area that Randy sould be laying on the floor, “there somewhere.  A couple students who…got trapped in there are watching over him to make sure he doesn’t get away.”

"Aw crap!  All that for nothing.  Why couldn't I have got teleportation?  Now that would have been sweet."  Sarah grouses a little but she gives Sammy and Kel the thumbs up.  "Good work guys."   

To Colin she asks, "Any chance you might be able to get a vibe or something off him and find out what he was thinking?"

"I guess I can try."

Colin closes his eyes for a moment, then opens them again. Under the ghost light, he recognizes his friends' familiar auras. He looks at Randy, wondering what could have brought him to do such a thing. He slowly touches his hand.

Blackbird, could it be that he's got a knot in his soul like Billy did? Do you think I could help him?

Donnie shakes his head sadly, scratching Pip's chin. "Sorry buddy, no wierd ray gun to munch on today."  

He looks back at the unconscious body. "At least no one else got shot."

Colin's ghost site shows that Randy seems fine.  His aura is a bit cracked and dark in color, but otherwise he seems fine.

"Well, as much as I would have prefered to be otherwise, I sense no... dark influences on him. I don't know what he was thinking. Why should one build himself a megagun, bring it to school and shoot a teacher? Mr. Jordan isn't that bad."

He gets up.
"I really thought he was going to shoot us all too. I... I guess helping people works, because I received so much help I still can't believe it. I wonder if my classmates saw the same things I have seen."

He looks at Sarah. He can't wait to talk with her about what happened.

"What about we get out of here, now?"

The police take the gun and then send several units into the building to secure Randy.

Due to the lateness of the hour the principal begins to dismiss classes after they verify their headcount.

Dave Texts Colin to let him know they're doing a headcount.

Colin takes a look at the cellphone.

"Guys, I hate to insist, but Dave says they're doing a headcount. I wonder who is doing it for my class, since Mr. Jordan likely doesn't feel like it, but we should all go now. Especially me, or the principal will start to think that I'm trouble, and not worth the effort."

Once hading things over to the police, Velocity runs back inside ahead of the units coming to arrest Randy.  Zooming up to where the others are gathered around him she comes to a halt and quickly spits out.  â€œOkay, weird wall melting gun handed over to police and they know the situation is under control and not to come in shooting.”  She looks down at Randy and asks.  â€œHe still out?”  With a blur, she is bent over, her hands on her knees looking at him as she adds. “Serves him right for trying to shoot me with that ray gun.”  

Another blur of movement she is standing back upright.  â€œSome police are on the way right now, I told them some students had gotten trapped inside and I left them to watch Randy.  I’m heading back to change and get back to my class.  Hopefully I haven’t been missed.”   With that, she is off in a blur and running back down to where she hid her clothes.  Changing quickly, she then moves back up to the parking lot at a brisk, but normal pace to find her class once more.

"Huh?" Colin says as in just a moment Velocity comes and go.
"Well, that explains where's the gun."

"Anybody else feel like a sidekick all of a sudden?"  Sarah grins and shakes her head.  "Well we're covered.  Might as well kick back and relax until the cops get here."

"I'm gonna head out to get 'counted'. I don't wanna be in any limelight here. Anyone else coming? Later, superheroes." Donnie grins and takes off for the back stairs.

Sylvia scurries off to get herself tallied, too.

"Ehm... Seth, we should go too. We'd have a hard time explaining how we 'got trapped' here, since they saw us when we carried Mr. Jordan out."

He looks at Sarah. "Are you coming? Otherwise text me later where I can find you. I don't plan on getting into any more firefights today, so I should answer." he says with a grin.

Sammy sighs heavily.  She really doesn't want to do this, but it is down to her or Kel.  "Fine.  I'll stay with Sleeping Beauty.  I won't be asked as many questions as Kel.  They might accuse him of playing hero and get him into trouble.  I don't look like the type to play hero.  So scoot!  Get outta here!  Shoo!"

She plonks herself down next to young mister Anderson to wait for the authorities.  When she hears the cops coming, she thinks about her pet dog Sandy who was put to sleep this past summer and makes herself cry.

Everyone makes it to the headcount without issue and the police take Randy into custody.

Hiking up stairs, Seth had to wave the others forward. His head was starting to pound, and he needed to take it slow. Yeah, it might make him seem like a coward, but the others didn't know what could happen if he pushed it to hard.

His head hurt.

When he finally caught up with the others things seemed to have resolved themselves.

Then the police arrived and they all had to get back down to the feild.

"Sorry I was late guys. I'm going to have to start working out."

Sarah grins at Seth and walks with him back down the stairs to the headcount.  "You can start right after your gig at the Tasty.  We have to get these freebie performances in before you go on tour and I can't afford tickets to your shows."

Any Special Requests? Some Sinatra maybe? You look like a Frank fan.

Seth brushed his hair back and sucked in oxygen.

Sarah thinks Who's Sinatra? but replies, "Sure.  Whatever you play will be awesome."
