Title: Chapter 26-1-2, Colin talks with Mr. Heep.
Post by: secretoracle on December 16, 2006, 09:13:05 AM
Colin left the lunchroom and made his way up to Mr. Heep's room.  There he found the teacher, eating his lunch and reading something online.  Mr. Heep waves him into the room when he sees Colin, "Can I help you?"

OOC: Colin and Mr. Heep haven't met before in a thread have they?  I don't think so, but let me know if I'm wrong.

OOC: I went to check, but it looks like they never met indeed.

"I'm sorry to disturb you, Mr. Heep. My name is Colin Crow. I think the principal gave you a camera that was found in a storeroom on the third floor. Could I... look at it for a moment?"

"Sure.  Crow, you're TJ's friend."  Mr. Heep goes to the storage closet and gets the camera.  "It's actually pretty sophisticated.  They were able to hack into the schools video network, so it's someone with a good bit of technical talent.  They're also among the people that made some of the gadgets the police found."  Mr. Heep hands colin a file folder, "This is the analysis of the stuff TJ found smeared on the lockers.  Ms. Jameson said one of TJ's friends would probably be by to pick this up."

"Ms. Jameson... Oh, Sammy. I guess she came for the bees. Yes, I'll take it. Thank you."

Colin opens the folder and takes a look at it, just to be see if he would be able to understand it without T.J.'s help, or if he needs Mr. Heep to further explain it.

He also asks permission to take the camera for a moment and turns it around in his hands, hoping there's some clue for him hidden in this one too.

The file Mr. Heep gave him shows some chemical analysis, and a layman's explanation of what it does.

Quote
The chemical will cause hypersensitivity to a specific pheremone (artificial) that will stimulate the brain's attraction centers.  There also appears to be a side effect that if multiple persons in close proximity have been exposed to the chemical and they are near a source of the attractive pheromone they will experience episodes of rage towards the others which have been exposed to the chemical.  In essence, someone has invented a type of love potion.

Colin takes hold of the camera and let's his sense of time and place go.  He can faintly hear the sound of voices, then the light fades and he can see the camera through an eire green light, like night vision of some sort.  "Riddle me this, why does the school spend a large part of it's budget for the sports program which benefit only a small percentage of the student body?"

"I'm not getting into this conversation.  The education system is broken, and we both know it."

"Well, let's see if this helps break up the sportscentric mindset of the school so we can focus on something a little more useful to a larger subset of the kids."

"So they actually have sex, on school grounds, during school hours in here?"

"Yes.  Not even taking into account the legal issues with that, what does it say about the morals of these idiots."

The light returns to normal and Colin is back in Mr. Heeps room holding the camera.

Colin frowns and shakes his head. He doesn't understand.

I mean, if I really really liked a girl, like I like Sarah, how could I... cheat my way into being with her? That makes no sense. It's... sick.

Same thing with the camera.

Again, what were they trying to accomplish? It's not like since they showed everyone Lisa and John going at it, the principal is gonna shut down football and... I dunno, double the size of the school library. It makes no sense either. It's just... some sort of payback maybe?

He realizes he's just thinking and nodding to himself, so he hands the camera back to Mr. Heep.

"Thank you. T.J. had been helping us investigating into this... we of the school's newspaper would like to see more clearly into it."

Not a lie... he thinks to himself.

"Can we come to you again if we happen to find something else?"

Mr. Heep nods, "Sure.  Always happy to help the press get to the truth."
