Kel made a few phone calls, talked to a couple of people and by 9PM Saturday night had managed to score the address to the latest chem-lite party.  This is what they called the parties that were held in the abandoned buildings, because there was no electiricty for lights, everyone brought glow stick lights, which were originally called Chem-Lite Sticks.

He got the text message with the address, which was your ticket in the door, and made his way to the abandoned building near where River forest became Chicago.  There were a couple of gang bangers on guard, they got paid to be bouncers and for protection by the rich kids that held these parties.  Kel knew he could take them, but in the spirit of the holiday season he just showed them his cell phone with the text message.  They gave him the nod and he was in.

There was a rocking party inside.  Like a Rave only with no disco balls or lasers.  The DJ ran his rig off a generator in his truck.  These guys were well practiced and breaking down and running in case of a raid, it was the nature of these sortys of things.  Even though they were using pretty cheap gear, they had a good sound, thanks to the only thing they'd probably take if there was a raid, a sweet mixing board.

There was a cash bar, and it was cheap.  The only way to have really cold beer was to come to these things in the winter, when nature was helping keep the crew cold.  Otherwise it was piss warm beer, and watered down mixed drinks with fistfulls of ice.  People here didn't care though.  The Exstacy was flowing pretty good and before Kel made it to the bar three hot chicks he'd never laid eye on kissed him, and some guy too.  There was an etiquette to these things, and kissing strangers anbd letting strangers kiss you was part of it.  Kel had done a few of these last year, but the music was usually not his thing.  Too much techno and trance for him, not enough mosh pit.

Kel smirked as he made his way through the place, the kisses though nice did still catch him off guard, prepared or not.  He picks his way through the crowd, letting his eyes scan around the room for the type of people who looked like the types who organized this stuff.  Still though, investigation or not, this was still a party and warm beer is still beer.  Forgetting the massive headache he had that morning, Kel pays for the cheap booze and while he's getting it he asks the guy who's watching over the alcohol, "I've heard these things can get pretty crazy."  He's being casual but he obviously can only be referring to a few things.

The guy handling the tap is a bit older, maybe early 20s or so.  "Yeah.  Some of these little twerps can't hold their alcohol alone, throw in some X and it's a crap shoot."

Kel laughs as he throws back the first beer no problem, "Not a surprise, looks like a lot of rich punks." As he goes for another beer he says, "So what they fight over some stupid shit alot of the time or do they start wreckin' shit?"

"Mostly stupid schoolyard crap.  which team sucks, who was looking at who's girlfriend's ass, shit like that.  they usually fall down passed out before they start breaking shit."

Kel nods as he takes this beer a bit slower, laughs when he realizes what the majority fights over.  Then he gets a bit more serious, "Anything big ever go down?  Like a police raid, or a bunch of people beating up one guy, shoot out, something crazy like that?"

The bartender leans over a little closer to Kel.  "Every so often something weired will happen.  They found som egirl have stoned out of her mind and naked early in the summer.  Apparently she'd been raped, but no one knew who did it or anything.  they trucked her up to the nut house apparently, she was catatonic or something."

Even though kel knew about the rape, the rest of it was something new and it was big, "Fuck..." He murmured under his breath as his face went numb from shock.  He downed the beer to help cope with it all and then as he got another he said, "You serious?  That's pretty messed up.  I mean, whoeverer did that could get in deep shit, and just leaving her.  Fucked up man."  He looks out over the crowds with a new form of contempt, not only were all of these people disgusting but they were also uncaring.

"Yeah.  Supposedly it happened again near the end of summer, but not as bad or it didn't get reported or something.  It was just rumors as far as I could tell."  Kel realizes this must be the attack against Darla, which means the girl that was attacked before might have been assaulted by the same boys.

Kel spews beer out when this next tidbit comes out, he has to keep his voice down when he says, "What?"  He shakes his head, then tries to make it seem like some sort of joke was told or some crazy story, as he then presses in like it is some embarassing point, "You mean it's happened twice?  Jeez, what kind of jerks would do that?  I mean I know we all are kinda lax when it comes to like, being good citizens and all that shit,"  He sips his beer as a gesture to it and then continues, "What kind of sleezy douche bags do that kind of stuff?  I mean, that's just ridiculous."  Now his eyes start scanning the crowd, looking for the richest, biggest, douche bags out there.

"I know what you mean.  We've sort of been trying to keep a closer eye on things, that sort of shit is bad for business."  Kel knew this to be true.  They were breaking a great many laws by having these parties, the important thing was not to break the ones that would make the citizens go psycho.

As he scanned the crowd he saw a few groups of boys.  They were friends, running together.  Most were harmless looking, but a few had a look to them that made the hair stand up on the back of Kel's neck.  they weren't doing anything wrong, but something about them made Kel think they were certainly capable of wrong if the mood struck them.

Kel smirked, these were the guys to watch, he found them or at least found soemthing like them.  For the moment though he couldn't quite figure out what to do, so he decided to just pick up a little reconaissance.  Kel drifts from the bar and to the crowd, trying to eaves drop in on their conversations listening for any major hints before he preps himself to try and engage them in thinly vieled interrogation.  After listening in a bit, Kel makes use of a lull in conversation to accidently bump into them and introduce himself, "Hey, somebody said you guys were regulars here, I'm Kel, kinda new to all this."

Kel gets little more then nods from the group.  They certainly don't seem to be terribly outgoing.  After a few minutes one of them spots a girl, which he points out to the others.  One of them is picked to go over and talk to her.  It's obviously a pick-up game and they don't seem to be terribly good at it.  The guy that's sent over is shut down after about 30 seconds.  He returns to the group to the sound of laughter.

Kel rubs his chin as he watches this occurrence, these guys were definitely the types to go after women for no other reason but he wondered if they'd really go to rape.  He then made his way over to the girl to see what had happened, he gestures over to the crowd of idiots, "Those assholes bothering you?"

She gives Kel a once over and smiles, "They think they're players.  I see them at these things all the time, trying some lame line or some bullshit to try and pick up girls."

Kel looks the girl over as well, smiling as he does, hopefully he can pump something out of her, "Ever see them get crazy?  I know a lot of these guys who think they're something, get real frustrated real quick.  With a beer or two in 'em they stop talkin' shit and start doing."  He then gestures over to the bar, "Want something to drink?"

"I'll let you buy me a beer Dick Tracy."  she says with a smile.  Her cloths say goth.  The hair and eye makeup are right, but her nails are too clean and Kel could tell her teeth were expensive, as were her colored contacts.  Maybe a wannabe, or just trying to blend in.

After he gets her a drink she nods over towards the group of boys.  "The tall blond, he gets mouhty after a beer or two.  He plays baseball, or did I guess.  Rumor was he transferred from public school to a catholic school, so there goes his baseball scholarship.  I heard a rumor he got arrested over the summer for beating the crap out of some guy with a baseball bat.  Something about a girl.  The rest of them are followers.  Except maybe the short guy, he's sort of creepy in a kind of serial killer type of way."

He laughs at her joke, and smirks at the cloths, blending in or not it still piqued his interest.  "Kel actually," He says to her, and then when she describes them he says, "Wow, ya know, sounds like all the guys around here are real assholes and they do as much as they think they can get away with.  Still though, I can't say I haven't kicked an ass or two.  Ever hear them do something really crazy, like I mean the dude who's creepy, he ever let it show?"

"There was a rumor that he got kicked out of some exclusive prep school for setting some buildings on fire.  He's the only one that doesn't try to play though, which in that group is a little extra creepy.  There were some girls attacked over the summer, a few people think it was them.  One girl was so messed up they checked her into that mental hospital down south."

Kel is a bit surprised, more of the same story.  He looks back over at the guys, they were the ones who did it, he could feel it.  Still he needed some sort of proof, either catching them in the act or some sort of witness.  He looks back at the girl, "Ever actually see them do anything?"

"Nah.  Except make bad  plays for girls and drink beer."

Kel laughs and says, "Thanks."  He then says, "Anything I can do for you before I wander off?"  He says, letting his eyes wander over her body.

"Sure, you can dance with me."  She says, stepping up close to Kel and leaning in to whisper in his ear, "Unless you've got someplace better to be?"  He can smell the scent of her, a mixture of teh club, her perfume, and the natural scent of her skin.

Kel weighed his options, the guys were right there, but he still needed a little bit more information before he could go after them.  He then decided that he had to check out this insane asylum, tomorrow though, they don't let visitors in this late anyway.  He then smiles, letting his arms slip around her, "Not that I could think of."
