Colin and Sarah had made plans to grab some dinner then catch a concert.

Colin said casual and he dressed quite casual, just a gray sweater that looked homemade (and maybe a little too large), a pair of blue jeans and a green windbreaker. But he wears eyes that shine even in the dim light of the little thai restaurant Chris recommended. He really looked forward to this evening, and now he feels like he deserved it, finally a break  from all the madness and violence and nonsense of the past few days.

He smiles at Sarah across the table while they both wait for their noodles, and decides to talk. For a moment it looks like he had a rehearsed speech ready, and decided to scratch it at the last minute.

"Hey wondergirl." he says to attract her attention.
"I have some confessions to make. I feel like I haven't been paying attention... no that's not it. I have been paying attention. I feel, though, like I have not been listening to you as I should have lately. I'm sorry of that. That's a big reason why I wanted this evening. We've been through some rough time, and I missed having some simple talk, with you."

"And... Sammy told me she told you of our little evening out. It's been weird. I took some very nice photo of her, and at the end she offered me to fly with her. So we were there up, in the sky and we began to dance. It was wonderful... for a little while. Then it started to feel wrong. I had to run away, and she probably thinks... I don't know what she thinks now. I only know... that it should have been with you. All I wanted was just to dance with you. I missed it so much... it hurts."

He looks down, as the wrinkles of blushing appear around his eyes.

"It's probably silly, I know. We have a lot of time for that. But it's been a strange week. Some things have changed in me. But not you. Not how I feel for you."

The waiter arrives with their orders.

Sarah shakes her head after Colin's apology but there is a smile on her lips.   "You don't have to apologize to me about anything.  We have both been busy lately.  You with saving the world and me with schoolwork.  I have a feeling I'm going to get a handle on that soon.  I asked Sammy to help me with math.  I know you offered before and it was really generous but I don't think I'd accomplish much with you around.  A little distracting."

She sips from her milk tea and sighs happily. "Thank you for bringing me here tonight.  I've wanted to do a lot of normal stuff lately.  Oh and you should go flying with Sammy again sometime.  Trust me, flying with her will be nothing like dancing with me.  I hope your wearing work boots tonight."  

"There isn't much to listen to from me right now.  School is hard but I think its going to get better.  Other than that its been a lot of US work.  Sammy and I are hopefully going toi find out more about the cheerleader dilemma.  Sylvia and I had a great run this morning.  I think we may need to investigate someone breeding giant mutant dogs!". Noticing the look on Colin's face she adds quickly, "Kidding."   

"What about you?  What's going on in your world?"

"Hey, I can behave. I think so, at least. Maybe. Uhmm, no, you're probably right." he says with a smirk. "Whatever works best for you. I just wanted to help, because it looked like it was bothering you. I know you can do it. You just have to find your way with it."


Colin smiles bashfully, glad that she's enjoying it. "Last time, you weren't that bad. Practice make perfect. And... let me me judge that. At the end of the evening, I'll tell you who sent me flying higher." he reaches out to caress her hand just a moment.


"Oh, that's what I wanted to tell you. I think I saw a werewolf. It was two weeks ago, I was in the Thatcher Woods at night... and well I see this wolf coming towards me. Only, it can't be a wolf, it's huge, like a bear or even bigger, and it's got this yellow eyes that look at you, and you can just see it's not an animal but something way more intelligent and dangerous. God and Great Spirit, I have been so scared only a couple times in my life before. And I didn't have the camera! I always have it but not then. Can you believe it?"


"Heh. My world. It looks like I do live in a different world sometimes, doesn't it?" Colin looks down for a moment, gathering his ideas and then looks back at her, smiling. "I'm a bit scared to say it out loud, but I think I'm happy. Mom is happy with Chris. They're not going to marry or anything soon, but they're happy, and that's enough for me. Chris likes his new job. I've seen him quite tired, but I can tell he enjoys it. Mama Walters is worried about me, and her back still hurts sometimes, but her new exercises are doing her good. It just that... she bought herself a pink sweatsuit, and a headband too. You should see her. It's so cute and yet she is so serious about it all... Really, you should see her. It cracks me up, but I could never laugh in front of her, she'd be terribly offended." He chuckles at it for a bit.

"I think I'm beginning to get it. With Darla, today, it was just right. If I can do things like this, well then this is really a gift. It's a bit like there was a plan, and I am a little part of this plan, and if I just do my best, I can set something right. It's not all up to me, but I have a part in it, and it's something I can do. Not very clear at all, is it? Well, the point is that I feel better about what I am now. And a part of this I owe it to you."

His eyes fall on the menu.

"Oh, and there's something new too. i noticed just this morning." He shows her a part of the menu written in thai. "I can read what's written here."

Sarah squeezes his hand and her smile widens.  "Fair enough, but you've been warned."


"A werewolf?  That's just creepy.  Great so are we looking for supers or supernaturals now?  Are the cheerleaders being haunted by a maleficent spirit?  So what do we do... have Megan go out for a walk in the woods and lead our wolf a merry chase right into the arms of the team?  I wonder if any of those old tales of silver or wolfsbane or.. uh garlic?  no vampires right... or anything would work on it?"  



"That's great.  I honestly think that this whole mystical thing going on really brought you too together.  I mean without this power would you two have had much of a reason to hang around together other than on your mother's prompting?  I mean... I know you would have made an effort but it would have been a slow process and maybe things would have clicked.  Something about being thrown into the same fire that makes for good friendships.  Now that Chris knows about you, and trusts you he can be more relaxed around his girlfriends son and you can be easy with him.  That's pretty amazing."  Sarah starts putting bits and pieces of everything on her plate.  With an extra helping of the crispy shrimp! 

"I am still speechless at the way my announcement to my parents went.  They were all, 'have fun fighting evil and be home by eleven or call first if your caught in an epic struggle to save mankind..'  Okay they didn't exactly say that but still..."  
She shakes her head, "This is what happens with parents who were rich and trendy back in the early nineties!"


In a solemn GM tone Sarah offers the advice, "Invoke not the wrath of your elders for they know your most embarrassing childhood secrets and will reveal them to your friends at the worst possible time."  She adds, "Also they will stop baking stuff when they know you're dropping by." 


"What do you owe me?  I don't think I've lead you to any deep insights or breakthroughs.  I'm glad to be here at your side and to keep people from getting in the way when you're figuring out how to fix everything."


Sarah looks a little puzzled.  "That's a little odd isn't it?  Suddenly knowing how to read Thai?  Unless something big is coming that will require you to read it?  Weird.  Can you speak it as well?"

"No, I think that if it was a spirit or something set against them, it would have fallen within my field. Instead the blackbird just told me there was nothing I could do about it.
The werewolf ...was nice in a way. I mean, if something like that doesn't kill you it mean it's being nice to you, doesn't it? It just came straight to as I was paralyzed in terror, took a whiff of me and looked at me strange, and then it was already on its way. it was so fast, there's no way I could have escaped if it meant to catch me."



"Maybe it's gonna take them a little time to get to grips with it, and now they're just stunned. Or maybe Mart keeps them too busy worrying about him, and for you there's nothing left." he chuckles. "Or maybe they're just trying to be supportive of you and what you decide, because they love you and trust you, but aren't sure how to express that." he adds, more seriously.


"Oooh, true. And we don't want that. Maybe you should come when it's baking time. She'd love to know you, and you could taste cookies or pie when they're still hot."


"But when you're there for me, you make all the difference in the world. My talents are based on emotion, and having you around... in a way it makes my emotions right. This morning you surely did."
He lowers his eyes, and his voice gets warmer. "You make me smile. And you're sometimes my wide angle lens when I become too focused. What I do doesn't save the world. If i do it right, it just makes someone's life a little better. And you make my life better."


"It's not just Thai. I first notice with Chinese ideograms. Then Latin. I haven't really tried it out yet. and I haven't actually tried speaking it, now that i think of it."

He takes the menu and gives it a try, but what it comes out is plain, unadulterated english.

"Hehe. No, I guess it's only one way for now." he puts down the menu and dedicates himself to his own shrimps for a moment.

"And... what about Sarah's world? Any interesting chat with Morpheus? Tell me of something you like. Anything you want."

Sarah considers the werewolf comment.  "Well, maybe biting you is just too much bad karma especially for something that exists so much in nature." 

"Don't try and bribe me with cookies.  It will work most times and that's not fair."

"So you can read languages?  Very cool."

At the question of new things with her, "Nothing much at all.  I don't really pester Morpheus much.  I guess it's still strange to have a... voice in my head that isn't mind.  He's not the same as a spirit guide or anything.  He's more of a representative from a galaxy far far away.  I just said that out loud didn't I?"  She sighs, "He told me right off that he didn't know where my powers came from or what I could expect.  He just knew that I was what they were looking for... potentially.  Honestly he's kind of vague but he's good at giving me a heads up in a crisis.  Sadly that has yet to involve the righteous path through a multiple choice test.  I haven't been able to use the force on that one.  Then again if I took a test blind-folded the teacher might know something was up."

She shakes her head and smiles brightly, lying, just a little, "Nothing new with me.  Oh well, I'm getting better at acrobatics lately.  Which is sort of weird considering I've been out of practice.  But my jumps have really extended and tumbles and falls are a breeze.  It's kind of nice.  I don't know if you'd call that a new ability but ... well I suppose it'll be handy for the next time I have to run away from something.

But you asked me to tell you something about me, something I like.  I like a lot of stuff.  I like gaming and playing videogames of all sorts.  I enjoy walks and talking with my friends.  Sunsets and sunrises when I'm actually ever awake for one.  I like reading though I don't do a lot of it.  I dig miniature golf and frisbee.  I like finding a good deal on clothes or gear of any sort.  I love a good coffee most any time of the day or night."

She shrugs, "Sorry I know a lot of that stuff is so generic.  I'm not used to opening up to people.  I'm not a big sharer.  I haven't really talked about real stuff with people since."  Sarah pauses and thinks about it, "Well for a long time now.  I'm sorry.  I'm kind of rusty.  Maybe that's why I expected my parents to explode when I talked to them.  Maybe that's why they are being so cool about it?  Are they so relieved I came to them with a problem that they're willing to let me play superhero?"

She shakes her head, "I think I have to stop guessing and assuming how the other side of the conversation will go and try and actually have the conversation."

"That 's an interesting explanation."he says. Then, after some thought, "Maybe you should try that and see what happens."
It takes him a moment to realize what he just said, and another moment for all the blood of his body to rush to his face.
"Tell me I didn't say that out loud. I-I-I'm sorry, it must be the food. Please, forgive me."

It takes him a couple minutes to regain enough self-confidence to speak again.


"Probably. On the bright side, he couldn't accuse you of cheating." he offers with a smile. He's concerned that the school bothers her so much.

"Sarah, I wanted to tell you something I feel you should know. You're bright. Very bright actually. It may not be the kind of brightness that helps you in class, but it helps you with people. Everybody around you I'm sure acknowledges that. Don't let math, or some history dates make you feel dumb. You aren't."


"That's nice. I'd like to see you. And well, you know, take some photos too. If it's fine for you."


Colin just listens to her with a bright smile, as if he was absorbing everything she says. Actually, knowing him, he probably is.

"I don't think you're doing a poor job of it. But maybe I just like the subject. Would you like something else, or you think we can go on to the club?"

Sarah's eyes get big at Colin's bite comment before she sees him turn bright red.  She covers her mouth to keep the gale of laughter from getting them kicked out of the restaurant.  As Colin's tone takes on a deeper shade she can only clutch her napkin and not choke.  Tears well up in the corners of her eyes before she can get control of herself. 
After clearing her throat and taking a drink of tea she replies coyly, "Maybe." 

At his suggestion of leaving she looks crestfallen.  "Don't you know how many delicious desserts they have here?  Oh that's something about me you might not have noticed, I have a bit of a sweet tooth."

Colin decides to play a game. He says nothing, he just looks at her for while, quite sternly. Only when she's just about to insist, or beg, he breaks into a smile and before she can speak he says "Very well. I can't deny you anything tonight. What would you like for a dessert?"

Sarah looks at the dessert menu happily.  "Fried banana, rice pudding, sago pudding, mango sticky rice, pandan rice cake...hey rainbow cake.  Oh wow.. this is too hard... but.. I'd like the mango sticky rice.  Would you like to share or do you have one of your own in mind?"

She sits quietly studying Colin for a little while.  "You are changing.  I guess we all are forced to change a little by all this craziness.  Some of the soft Colin is disappearing.  But I hope you don't loose the sweet Colin along with it.  Don't stop being who you are to become what you think you need to be.  Sorry that was a little much huh?  Yeah."  

Sarah smiles as her dessert comes and she dips in with a spoon.  "We should get together more often.  I mean, we don't have to spend all day all the time.. it doesn't seem like we have the time for that much lately.  But.. even some weekday night.. you want to come over for dinner sometime and just rent a movie or something?  I .. haven't introduced you to my parents yet.  They want to meet you before the dance."

"It looks like you know them better than me. I'm gonna take your advice. Even better, let me take your second favorite, so I can taste yours too and you can share mine."

He looks at her worried. "Please tell I didn't say something awkward again." he braces for that.


"No, no. I want you to speak your mind. And I definitely need someone telling me if... there's something wrong with me. Please do it. You think... I mean... What do you see is changing in me? And what ... you wouldn't like me to lose?"

Yes, brain, I overruled you. You were *NOT* going to say ' you think I'm getting hard' or something like that. You already slipped once tonight, And till bedtime you are on a close watch! You pervert!


It's hard for Colin to conceal his happy puppy smile when she says they should see each other more often.
She wants to introduce me to her parents. That must mean I'm important to her, right?

"Sure." he says struggling not to make his voice sound too enthusiastic. "I'd love to. I planned today. It's only fair if you get to plan our next evening, ok?"

Sarah grins and shakes her head, "No.. even I'd have a tough time dragging a double meaning into that.  Too much effort.  But I'd love to share.  If there is nothing that you don't like then maybe you could try the pandan cake?"



"I don't see anything wrong with you Colin," replies Sarah.  "It's just that all this horrible stuff that's been happening has been maturing you I guess.  You're more confident in what you're doing and saying.  You're less afraid.  It's a good thing.  I just don't want the new mature Colin to lose his ability to find the simplicity and innocence in something."  She squeezes Colin's hand.  "You're awesome, and don't worry if I think you've got some sort of insidious magic or something working on you I'll beat it out of you."  For just a second her hand glows with the faintest shimmer of her staff.  Colin feels the strange touch of the weapon brushing against his psyche but without harmful effect. 
"We look out for each other."


"I didn't have any big plans really," Sarah shrugs and looks down at her plate.  "It's just that my parents want to meet you before the dance.  I haven't told them about anyone else.  I mean I told them I wasn't alone and that others had abilities but those aren't my secrets to tell.  Anyway.. I thought maybe someday next week you could come over for dinner.  We usually eat around eight and we could just hang out in the den and watch a movie if you wanted.  I'll microwave the popcorn myself."

When the dessert comes Sarah gladly shares the dishes with Colin.  She makes small talk about the food and school and movies.  Finally with the meal out of the way she puts down her napkin and says, "I guess I'm ready for the second part of the evening.  You'll have to tell me a little more about the band along the way."

Colin smiles in relief and nods. When the green cake arrives, he raises an eyebrow, he trusts Sarah enough to give it a try. Mhhh-mmm. Not bad at all. He takes immediately another bite.



"I do that?" he asks with a voice that for a moment makes him look 8-years-old. Sarah looks at him. He sincerely doesn't have a clue.



Colin looks at her with his shiny eyes, and her secret, inner caress of light almost makes him well up tears of joy. She can feel a tingle in her hand, as his emotions for a moment cross the boundary between the two of them. There can be no lie, no misunderstanding this way, for it is a communication beyond language.
There's throbbing happiness in waves, studded with tiny chilly crystals of fear and concern; a quiet but curious, playful flame of desire; a tentative, warm longing, an eagerness to give and receive.
Both are left for a moment wondering if it came from themselves or the other.

"We look out for each other." he finally agrees.



"Perfect. Pick up the movie too. Your house, your movie."


Colin dons his jacket, picks up his umbrella (his mom insisted that he took it), and offers her his arm. The club isn't from the restaurant, so they can walk to it.

"So, the Pebbles. There's five of them, if I'm not mistaken lead voice, guitar, bass, drums and keyboards. Lead voice is Danny Walker, I remember it because he joked that he was named after two brands of whiskey he's not allowed to drink, since he's still 20. They're all around that age, the bass and keyboards player may be even younger.
really, I heard just one of their songs, it a nice ballad, a little sad, but nice, about a boy in love with the girl next door who finds the courage to tell her only when she's moving, and she promises to write. I don't think they're there only to play their songs though. The flyer mentioned dancing, and teenagers allowed. I think they could be taking requests too. I guess it's part of a publicity stunt, to get the people to know them."

When they arrive Colin opens the door for Sarah.

Sarah steps in before Colin and looks around at the club.  Seeing the crowd she is grateful for wearing layers and peels off her light coat.  Still hot she pulls the long blue tee over her head leaving just a dark orange tee above her low rise jeans.  She stuffs the long tee in her coat and takes Colin's hand.  "Now I can dance.  Let's find a good spot near the floor and the bar for drinks."

The club is crowded but not too much yet, so they manage to find a table of their liking. Colin looks undecided for a moment, and then takes off his sweater. He's got a white long-sleeved t-shirt under it, sporting a stylized red dragon. A month ago it would have probably allowed anyone looking to count his ribs, but now, thanks to Jack's training, Colin's finally beginning to fill it up with more than his bones. It also plays a nice contrast with his skin tone.

Colin smiles and maybe even trembles a little when he takes Sarah's hand and follows her to the floor. The band alternates fast pieces and slow dances. The singer, despite being young, has a deep and raucous voice, very evocative. But to Colin the music is only background. What's important is Sarah, her perfume, the warmth of her agile body next to his, her shiny eyes.

His hands feel firmer than last time, and a little more braver. Last time he tried to dance to prove her something, to show her how he felt. And shortly after he messed it horribly. He grimaces at the thought. This time it's different. They're together, really together, and he can even steal a quick kiss when he pulls her close. This time she won't have to save him from his own short-sightedness. He doesn't have to show off, and he leads their dance in a more relaxed way, more natural. This time...  Colin stops thinking, and lets himself go. No more worries, people to save, criminals to stop. For a moment, Sarah close to him is all that matters in the world. He's free. And no, flying can't beat that.

"Thank you." he whispers to her.

Later, as they take a breath and drink something at their table, he asks her "Wondergirl, I'd like to do something for you. Would you let me draw your costume, or a logo or something to put on it? Or maybe your mask?"

Sarah loves dancing and not worrying.  The band is decent but it could be a middle school garage band for all she cared.  She was dancing with Colin and not chasing monsters or struggling with school.  She was just here...  Colin was relaxed, finally.. seeming not to be so worried about Sarah disappearing or something.  She dances close and closer, making small talk but mostly just smiling and shining through a light sweat from the heat and the dancing.  She presses herself close on a slow dance and breaths softly along his neck.  She holds his hand through the night.



"That would be great... I mean.. I wont make a promise... but I would love to see what you could make.  I'm going over to Megan's tomorrow for just that."  She looks relieved, and glad to have help offered.  "I've been clueless about a costume.  Oh and that reminds me for halloween... did you have any other ideas for that?  I mean... I thought maybe a samurai and a geisha or we could just do individual costumes.  Or... I really suck at this costume thing."  She sighs and wipes a wet strand of hair off her face.  "I'm really having a good time tonight.  Thanks for brining me."

"I'll give it a try. I've never done anything like this. Should I go for practical or... audacious? I mean, Velocity's... that's somewhat audacious, don't you think?



"A samurai and a geisha..." Colin's voice trails off, as his eyes fill up with possibilities, as if he was drawing in his head. "I'd love that. It's a very nice idea. So nice in fact I wonder why it never occurred to me." He smiles at her. "You don't suck at his."



"Thank you for coming."

He leans forward to kiss her on her cheek, then he look straight into her eyes for a moment, and it feels like falling into them. He kisses her again, a true kiss this time, gentle but passionate, as if he was thirsty and she was water in the desert. He's about to get carried away, when he remembers where they are and reluctantly leans back, with an apologetic look.

"Practical.  I'm not looking to get noticed.  Should I even make a costume?  I mean... maybe just a face mask?  I've got ideas but I haven't put it all together yet.  I want to go what I'm comfortable in and will keep me warm this fall and winter... so layers.  I thought maybe just dark layers of a hoodie, vest and long sleeve tees and some arm warmers or fingerless gloves.  I've been saving my allowance for a while to get some stuff together."    She grins and shrugs.

After the kiss Sarah keeps her eyes closed and sighs. "I like normality." 

When the music picks up again, Sarah grabs Colin's hand and leads him back onto the floor for more dancing until they exhaust themselves.

"I think you should. I mean... the way I see it, you put on a mask, so the bad guys you're beating can't recognize you. It protects you and your family. But you put on a costume, so the normal people can recognize you as a hero, as one of the good guys. That's why I thought of a logo too. So it wouldn't have to be special clothes, you could just iron it on what you decide to wear.

You know what could be cool? If you could sew on it some strips of a material that shines under the light of your staff, but not normal light. It would work even better if it was some kind of paint. So when you decide it's time to get serious, your costume flares up too. Just a thought.

I like the hoodie. And the fingerless gloves too. I was thinking of them too."

Colin sighs. "I wonder if I should get myself a costume too."


He laughs, and lets her drag him to the dance floor again. They are both a bit tired, but they got the hang of each other's style, so it's nice anyway. The band starts playing "All I want is you". When she snuggles close to him, her breath on his neck sends him to very happy places. Maybe too happy, as he realizes with horror. Breaking in a cold sweat, he goes on pretending nothing happened, and prays she doesn't notice. He's too embarrassed to do anything else.

At one point during the evening Sarah's phone buzzes and she pulls it from her hip and glances at it.  She flips the case closed and smiles.  "Just Megan wishing me a happy night."

She spends some time considering the costume.  "I wont try and get too fancy with a costume just yet.  Save that for someday when I've got money." 

At Colin's suggestion for a costume of his own, "I don't know... I mean, you are the shaman of the party so you deserve a costume like everybody else.  But you've already been involved in so many events without a disguise.  It's something to think about.  Especially if we ever get closer to tracking down the head drug dealer.  Is there something that you'd be comfortable in?" 

"I never thought of a costume so far because I didn't feel like I needed it. I just helped people, and no one needs a mask for that. But... this thing about... Darla's attackers, well, it's different. I still think it's the right thing to do, but... I cannot say I am comfortable with it like I was with helping her. I will do it, but it doesn't make me proud. Not doing it, though, knowing who they are what they did, and allow them to be free of the consequences... that I cannot do either. Not if I can help it. And I *can* help it. If something went wrong with it, though, I could never allow them to get to my mom or to you. So masks and costumes are something I may need now. At least I hope this is the reason, and not a desire to hide from my conscience. I hope I'm not that kind of coward."

He thinks about it some more.

"There's more. There's you. If I have a costume I can go out with you. If I show everyone my face while you're in your costume, I'd be a liability to you. And I don't want this."

"What would you suggest me?"

When Sarah's cellphone buzzes, Colin is reminded of something he wished would never come.

"When is your curfew for tonight?"

Sarah laughs, "What's a curfew?  I'm a superhero right?"  She sighs, "Eleven o'clock unless something comes up."

"I don't know about a costume for you.  I mean you are right, your reasons for having one make sense.  I just don't know.  Would you like something with a raven on it?  You could just go with a hoodie and maybe a mask over your eyes or something.  Do you have any colors in mind?  I like black or dark earth tones for my stuff."

Colin says nothing, but his eyes definitely go 'Awww!' as he pulls her closer.


"Maybe dark blue? And no birds. I'm afraid that for those who know what to look for, like the witches, it would give too much information. I'll think of something. Actually, maybe I've already got an idea." he says, thinking of the phoenix on his lighter.

They keep on dancing as their time and their energies slowly run out. At the end of a particularly sweet song, Colin kisses her lips again, very very softly, lingering there for a moment.

"It's getting late. Can I walk you home?"

"You can definitely walk me home.  Do you have your bike tonight?"  Sarah stays close to Colin and cools down away from the crowd before throwing back on her shirts and coat.

"So you like the samurai and geisha idea?  Is there a color you like?  Bright red or blue are usually pretty easy to get a hold of unless you want to go for black."

"Oh, I'll just whistle and she'll come running to me." he says casually.


"I like it a lot. And I was thinking blue, black or yellow for me, but now that I think of it, I would love to see you in red. So, I don't know."

He entwines his fingers with hers as they walk to her house, until it comes into sight.

"I guess I should tell you goodnight now.
Good night, good night! parting is such
sweet sorrow,
That I shall say good night till it be morrow." he whispers to her, looking into her eyes.

"Ack!  No doomed lovers!  I'm not usually superstitious but don't go poking a sleeping fate with a sharp stick.  That's like sneaking up behind Greg and shouting 'Macbeth'."

Sarah grins and thinks about that.  "Actually that might be really fun.  Maybe I'll try that sometime next week.  Want to come along?"

"That would be a very evil thing to do. You should be ashamed of yourself. I could never assist you in sneaking behind him like that.


I would be busy in front of him taking pictures."

He breaks out in a grin.

"You're right about about the doomed lovers. Let me try with something else. Uhmm... It was something like this...

I shut the stairs and ran up the door,
Put on my teeth and brushed my pjs,
Turned off the bed and... hopped into the light,
All because you kissed me goodnight!

"Sounds good to me.  Quoting Shakespeare is always asking for trouble in the movies."  Sarah grins and moves close to Colin.  "Asking for a kiss usually doesn't cause too many problems."

She tilts her head up to his, pressing her body against him and gives Colin a long slow dreamy kiss.  The kind that sends Colin scrambling for baseball statistics in his head.  She runs her fingers through his hair and with closed eyes says pressed against him for forever or at least a couple of seriously fabulous minutes before stepping back just a little.  "Thanks again for tonight.

Colin can't do anything but circle her with his arms and let the tide sweep him away. When she steps back his heads turning real good and he's afraid open his eyes.

"...whoa... You're welcome..."

The bells of the church in Lake Street strike eleven.

"Goodnight, wondergirl."

He stays in the shadow of the trees watching her walk to her door and disappear behind it. Then he turns left, runs for a hundred feet or so, puts his fingers in his mouth and lets out a (not too loud) whistle. His bike doesn't really runs to him, since it's chained to a streetlight, but it's the thought that counts. With a heart so warm it sizzle in the cold night, he cycles away grinning.
