Sammy makes her way to the parking lot for her meeting with Preston Wilde.  When she arrives he's sittin gon the hood of a car and she can hear the sound of a small motorized contraption driving around nearby.

Sammy leans against the car, looks out onto the lot and watches the small vehicle go around.  "Fast."  she comments.  "Cool.  How long does the charge on the battery last?  Or is it fuel powered?"

"Exotic composition wet cells.  Very cool.  She'll run about twenty hours on these if she doesn't overheat."  Preston is apparently running the robot from his PSP.  He turns the device so Sammy can see that the robot's camera's are being displayed on the small device's screen as well as some other information.  "I was afraid you would forget about me." 

"Nah.  I don't forget the things I don't want to do, even the ones I wish I could forget.  Why would I forget about something that actually sounded like it might be fun?"  She hunkers down deeper into her coat, shoving her hands deep into the pockets.  "So show me what this puppy can do."

"Ok."  Preston says.

He proceeds to take the robot on a trip around the parking lot, then down into a storm drain and under the school.  At one point he has to switch to IR, which the robot has a mini IR spotlight for.

He has it go quite a ways, and even lets her drive it some in the small space of the drains under the gymnasium.

Sammy laughs in delight.  This is fun.  "Have you driven it around through the ductwork in the school basement?  I hear there are storerooms that haven't been opened for 20 years.  Bet there's all kinds of stuff to see down there."

"Yeah, this place has a lot of little spots to look at."  Preston says, "I've had it in the ducting a few times, testing the antenna and stuff."

"Is it okay if I play with it for a while then?"  Sammy takes the contraption for a drive,  weaving it under cars and through the drainage ditches surrounding the lot.  Since Megan so conveniently caught the invisible photographer, Preston was not on anyone's list of suspects.  He was a gadget guy, so no bee master, and she seriously doubted he'd be caught dead or alive in a pink hoodie with the word "Bitch" on it.  Sammy smiled, finally remembering where she had seen a hoodie like that before.  It was in the veterinarian's office, being worn by someone's miniature poodle.  It was funny there.

With TJ gone, it might be nice to have a gadget guy on retainer.  Sammy had interest in techie stuff, but not this kind of skill.  Not yet anyhow.

"This is cool.  Do you build a lot of robots, or is this your first one?  What other kinds of stuff have you put together?"

"She's not my first.  She's one of my favorites though.  I build a lot of stuff off her basic design.  I'm working on a few now, playing with some ideas."  Preston gets an odd look on his face, then digs his phone out of his pocket, glacing at it.  "Hmm."  He slips the phone back into his pocket, "I need to get going.  I was supposed to meet some friends, that was my reminder."

"Oh," Sammy says.  "OK."  She hands the remote back over to him.  "See ya around then."

She starts to walk away, then she turns.  "Listen, I, uh... last week, when we set this up, I didn't know it at the time, but I was under the influence of a substance which may have caused me to act... differently... than normal.  Somebody had contaminated some bottled water being sold in the cafeteria, and I was one of the victims.  If you were expecting... somebody different... I'm sorry about that.  This is me.  This is normal."  She shrugs.  "That's all I had to say.  See ya."  She turns away, and starts walking in the general direction of the Tasty.  Maybe she can catch up with Sarah.

"Wow, contaminated water bottles huh?"  He frowns, "Well, I wasn't expecting anything different."  He flips his phone open as Sammy starts to walk away and begins to chat with someone.  "I'll see you around."  he calls after her.

She raises her hand and waves a quick goodbye as she walks away.
