Megan made arrangements for her and Sarah to talk with Lisa about Candice.

Megan arrived home after cheerleading practice, glad her talk with Sylvia had gone well.  She had been worried about Sylvia, not wanting to see her get herself into a mess that could really turn out badly, hopefully she would be able to straighten it all out now.  But now she had other things to focus on, like trying to get more information about who could possibly be trying to get rid of the cheerleaders, by hurting or even killing them if need be.  Something very odd was going on with Lisa not remembering Candice, and hopefully her and Sarah could figure some things out.

The blonde teen put her stuff away in her room and went back downstairs, waiting for the other two girls to arrive.

*Bing Bong Boong Bong.  Bong Bing Bing Boong*  Sarah waits patiently on the front porch of Howell Manner still wondering if any of this was going to work, and what she was going to tell Megan if it did.  She could forget...  No!

With her brother in the house, Megan could not rush to answer the door like she was briefly tempted to.  But, she was not very far from the door, so she arrived not long after Sarah rang the doorbell.  “Hey Sarah.”  She said with a smile, letting the other girl in.  “Lisa isn’t quite here yet.”  Leading her old friend into one of the living rooms off the main entryway, she looked over at her as she asked, “what are you hoping to learn from talking to Lisa about this?”

Sarah sits down in a comfortable chair that probably cost as much as her dad's car and shakes her head, "I honestly don't know.  I think it's odd that Lisa can't remember the tryouts especially with 'that girl' being there.  I want to know if she had any trouble remembering any of the rest of her day.  Maybe we can jog her memory.  Maybe something else happened that day that is connected with these cheerleader attacks.  Candice might just be stealing the spotlight away from the real problem or maybe Lisa knows something she doesn't know she knows." 

Sarah stops and shakes her head.  "Forget that last part.  It sounded too bumbling detective."  She sits up stiffly for a moment hoping that Megan doesn't actually forget it.  Even if it was a lame line.

Megan leans against a sofa as she thinks a moment before replying.  “Well, I didn’t say she doesn’t remember the tryouts, only the fact that Candice had tried out.  But, I didn’t really ask her much about the rest of the tryouts, so maybe she does not remember more.”  Shrugging she pauses a moment, and then continues.  “It is really strange though, I don’t know what Lisa could know, but maybe she does.  Thing that seems to bother me though is while Candice does seem like the most likely suspect, but it just seems so obvious.  Like maybe too obvious.”

Lisa arrives a few minutes later.  There is a boy parked out front in a pretty expensive sports car.  "We're going to a movie after, you said this probably wouldn't take long right?"

Megan gave Lisa a warm smile and quick hug when she showed up.  “No, shouldn’t take long at all.”  She gave the boy a wave as she led the older girl inside.  “Looks like Fenwick does have some good perks.”  She said with a wide grin.

Leading Lisa back to the room Sarah was in, Megan made a quick introduction.  “Lisa, I don’t know if you met her, but this is Sarah.  Her and I were in private school together all the way through fifth grade.  We wanted to talk to you about the cheerleader tryouts some.”

"Sure, I'll help any way I can."  Lisa said, taking a seat.

Sarah smiles and shakes hands with Lisa, "Hi Lisa.  It's my fault you got dragged out here.  I asked Megan if I could get a chance to talk with you."

"This might sound kind of stupid but can you tell us what you remember about the tryouts that day?  Were all the cheerleaders there?  Any teachers or coaches?  Do you remember the names of the girls trying out?"  Sarah looks a little embarrassed about this slew of questions.

"I'm sorry I'm throwing all this stuff at you.  When Megan mentioned that you couldn't remember uh," she glances at Megan, "Candice trying out it made me wonder if something was fishy.  We are trying to find out who is behind all the trouble the cheerleaders have been having this year."

Lisa proceeds to describe the tryouts.  Her attention to detail is lacking in some respects, but she remembers Kel and Dallas as well as Sylvia.  She also remembers the girl with the 'fake leg' and some of the other girls that tried out based on stuff like hair and cloths.  It's when she mentions a girl in a white sweater that Megan realizes that was Candice.  Lisa recalls almost everything, but it's like Candice was a blur, like she didn't realize it was 'That Girl' when she tried out.

Megan listens to Lisa describe the tryouts, trying to pull up her memories of them as the older girl went through things.  She had not thought much about it, but when Lisa starts talking about that the blonde teen realized that it was Candice.  “Lisa, that girl in the white sweater was…‘That Girl.”

"Try and focus on your memories of the girl in the white sweater Lisa.  You can remember this."  Sarah sounds hopeful that Lisa can do just that.  Just hopeful that I can undo what someone else might have done... but did someone do this or is it just a case of partying too hard ruinging a perfectly good braincell?

Using power (Mental Transformation 3) to attempt to counter this memory blur.  Do I need a roll?  Or will this work at all?

Lisa gives Megan a look of disbelief, "Nooooo."  she says, shaking her head.  "I'd have recognized her, wouldn't I?"  Lisa seems to consider it for a moment.  "Really?"


Lisa thinks about if for a few minutes and then shakes her head, "I just can't put a face to the girl in the white sweater.  Most of those girls are a blur anyway, the only ones that stodd out were the ones that did really good or were really horrible."


OOC: The problem is you can't as easily do what your asking.  If you actually use your powers, you're going to make her remember what you want her to.

OOC: Ah.  See I thought I could use the power to Counter other possible uses of memory alteration.  Unless it wasn't memory alteration but more of an obscure sort of event.

Megan nodded as Lisa looked stunned about the idea of Candice being the girl in the white sweatshirt.  “Yeah, it was her.  I didn’t think much of it at the time as I was busy trying to look over our routines like you had asked.  But I remember looking up to watch some of her dance, I didn’t realize who it was though, having only heard a bit about her from some of the others on the squad.”

"Why would she try out?  Was she fishing for proof of favoritism by the judging group?" asks Sarah.  I wasted Lisa's time dragging her out here.  Stupid power... maybe I should just make myself forget it. 

"Well, if I was going to make a scene it would have been over her trying out.  You're sure it was her?"  Lisa still seems uncertain that the girl in the white sweater was Candice.

Megan could not under stand what was going on, if Candice had hoped to get Lisa to cause a scene by trying out to further her stupid crusade against the cheerleading squad, it had not worked because Lisa had not realized she had been there.  Why would Candice, if it had been her somehow, have made Lisa not remember or realize it had been her?  It only worked opposite what she wanted.  Megan nodded as Lisa still seemed unsure that Candice had been at the tryouts.  “Yeah, I am sure it was her.  I guess it doesn’t matter why you can’t remember that, maybe you just were so shocked by seeing her you couldn’t react.”  The blonde teen offers. 

She glanced towards the window, where the front of the expensive sports car outside could be seen.  “You probably don’t want to keep you date waiting.  Thanks for taking the time to come by Lisa.”  She said with a smile.  “I’ll call you later?”

"Ok."  Lisa gives Megan a hug before leaving and shakes Sarah's hand, "It was nice meeting you.  Sorry I can't be more help."  A few moments later she's on her way out and is gone.

Megan returned Lisa’s hug and showed her out, waving good bye as her friend speed off with her date.  Making her way back in, she sat down across from Sarah and looked over at the other girl.  “This is just so weird.  If Candice wanted to stir up trouble by setting Lisa off, it completely backfired.  Assuming she is pinky, could this be why she has resorted to more violent action?  But that still doesn’t explain why Lisa didn’t realize it was her.  Could someone else have interfered?  Or want to cast blame on Candice?”

Sarah can only shake her head to all the questions.  "I don't know, I don't know, I don't know.  I'm sorry to waste your time and Lisa's.  I was hoping that we might be able to find something else out about the tryouts.  I thought that maybe there was some dark secret.  So Lisa can't remember Candice.  Yes that is weird but it can be explained away.  I want to find out that Candice is the acid attacker just because that would make this easy.  Honestly we have no proof that she was even at the game.  Unless she decides to come to school tomorrow wearing the same pink sweatshirt."  Sarah grins at that thought. 

"I think it's time to call Dave and Greg in.  They seem to be able to scrounge up information that we mere mortals can not attain.  I'll get Candice's class schedule, find out her friends or heck even just try and get her fingerprints so we can make a comparison against the acid print.  Speaking of which."

Sarah reaches into her pack and carefully pulls out a plastic bag with a drink container inside.  "Just to eliminate an obvious dead end I got Laticia's prints this afternoon.  She is nice and funny and stable.  She's got a strong will and doesn't seem to particularly care that she didn't make the squad.  The only person I could see her angry at is her boyfriend from the time of her accident and she didn't even seem to hold a grudge against him.  Problem is she may be in danger now.  Seems like our acid attacker broke into her locker." 

“Yeah, Candice being the attacker would be easy, which is sort of why I am bothered by things, it seems too easy.”  Megan replies, still wondering if there was something that they were missing in this. 

When Sarah mentions Dave and Greg, Megan recalls Greg’s little lesson on kinesetics when she had been waiting with him and Katie for the others.  “We need to show your pictures to Greg.  It might not be enough, but he was able to figure out I was Velocity based on pictures and video of me both in and out of costume.”

When the other girl started talking about Laticia and how she had gotten her prints and the fact it seemed the acid attacker had broken into her locker, Megan looked a bit surprised.  “They did?  What on earth could the acid attacker have against her?  She didn’t even get on the squad.  They going to start going after everyone that just tried out?  Either this was done to throw us off, or there is something really, really weird going on that we just don’t know enough about yet.”

Sarah nods, "Cool, I'll print out another copy of the photos to give to Greg tomorrow."


"I think the latter.  Is someone out to revenge themselves against people they think have done them wrong or something?  I mean, the cheerleader tryouts are one thing.  Laticia mentioned she got a choice internship at the university and she's likely to get a batch of scholarships.  Maybe our attacker was trying for the internship or some of the same scholarships?  It might be hard to get that information and it may not even help us.  For all we know it could be someone with an agenda that only makes sense in their own brain."  

Sarah puts the drink container back in her pack before asking, "Do you think the person who set up the cameras in the make out closet is the same person attacking the cheerleaders?  Its one thing to attack people on a emotional level and another to try and kill them.  Have their been any other strange attacks or just odd events happening to any of the other girls on the squad?  Man, why can't this person take a shot at Kel!"  Sarah realizes that her suggestion might not sound quite right and adds quickly, "Because he would hand them their head."

Megan shook her head at the thought of the camera person and the acid attacker being connected or the same.  “No, from what Colin said, it sounded like there were two people working on setting up the cameras, and I think he said they were guys.  I don’t even think the incident with Lisa and John Maddox was even directly against cheerleaders per se, but the popular students more in general.  While a few of us have gone out or do go out with football players, there are a lot more girls that aren’t cheerleaders going out with players.  The camera just happened to catch Lisa in there with Maddox.  If Calvin hadn’t moved away, it might have been the two of us that got caught on tape.”

Megan quickly glanced over at Sarah and added, “though not in quite the same situation as Lisa and Maddox.  We never got that far.”  She though a moment and then went on.  “I wonder if whomever put in the camera had other couples that had gone in there but didn’t do anything quite as scandalous, so they waited before transmitting the feed.”

“As for other things going on with the cheerleaders, the only other thing was Fern’s apparent run in with the ‘love goo’ that lead to the opening on the squad and those tryouts in the first place.”

"Just because it was two guys setting up the cameras doesn't eliminate them as suspects.  It could be a group that has a problem with the successful or popular kids at school.  The person wearing the pink sweatshirt could be a guy.  Hey maybe Greg could figure that one out?  I mean have you seen the way some of the emo boys dress?"

She throws her hands up in disgust.  "What happened to the good ol days of superheroing when the villains wore capes and laughed maniacally all the time?"

“Well, it was also the fact the camera guys sounded more like they believed they were on some moral high ground compared to Lisa and Maddox, and I guess other members of the popular crowd.  Causing bleachers to collapse to possibly harm lots of people, popular and not, not to mention trying to smash the entire cheerleading squad with a flagpole is the same thing.”

She smiles at Sarah’s comment about the how it used to be easier to be a superhero.  “Well, he’s not quite like that, but there is one villain closer to that out there.  Tonight I was thinking of calling the PCD to see if they think there is enough to convict Spark on if we can catch him.  If there is, maybe we can start making some efforts to find that jerk.”

"Maybe he's packed it in for the winter.  Nothing like tossing electricity around when your standing in a puddle of water."  Sarah grins honestly hoping that maybe he was just a seasonal badguy.
