Set got a call from a man named Kyle Summers.  He was the doctor that John had mentioned, and arrangements were made for Seth to meet a Jade Industries jet at the airport Friday after school.  Summers told him he'd have him back in Chicago before midnight.  The plane ride was a serious event, as this private jet took a ballistic flight path up to the edge of space, then nosed down to intercept Seattle.  The flight was a little over an hour, and a rather attractive executive assistant met Seth at the airport.

The Jade Industries R&D Lab on the edge of town.  The buidling was a glass and steel skyscraper with modern appointments, and the reception area had a distinctly oriental feel to it's art and color choices.  The elevator ride was swift, with Seth and the driver stepping off on the 32nd floor.  The floor had the look of offices, with carpeting and a maze of doors.  The driver took Seth to an office that had Scott Summers on the door and they went inside.  The driver directed Seth to the door beyond the secretary's desk.  Inside was a man Seth could assume was Dr. Summers.  Summers was not a tall man, he looked to be in fairly good shape perhaps one of those runner types.  Set guessed he was in his 30s or 40s.  He smiled and stood up as Seth came in, extending his hand.  "I'm glad you could make it Mr. Mondsee, I'm Kyle Summers."

"I'm glad you could see me on such short notice. And with such efficiany. I'm half german, so you know i appreciate it.

Course, the other half of me is spanish, so I'm about ready for a siesta.


In all seriosuness. The amount of effort you've allready gone to. It's appreciated."

Seth's tone was all buisness. Bad jokes, and clipped serious speech...That was hoe he dealt with hospitals. He didn't know there was any other way.

"There are two ways we can do this.  I can ask you to have your parents sign a consent form for me to see your medical records.  That would be the lawful and proper way.  The other is that I hack into the various insurance comapnies and hospitals across the glode and piece them together.  that's the fast way.  Do you have a preference?"

Seth leaned back in his chair and ran his hands though his hair.

A few seconds later he had made his decision.

"They are my records. Go ahead and get them by whatever means necessary. I'll write a letter to that effect if you'd like"

Kyle smiles, "Ok, let's pretend that we had that conversation the day that John called me."  he takes a folder out of a desk drawer and lays it on his desk, opening it.  "You've seen some of the best, so you also have excellent imaging records."  he lays his hands over the file and looks up at Seth.  "I wont bore you with what you've been told a million times.  Let's take a new approach.  I want to run a test, it'll take about twenty minutes.  After that I'll need a few days to colate the results.  The only question I need an answer to before we go forward is do your headaches have any effect on your powers, other then maybe making it difficult to focus or concentrate?"

Sometimes when I get a cluster migraine, or just a large amount of stress, I'll kind of explode. It access's more power than I am normally able to, and destroys, moves or manipulates everything in a wide area around me.

It's only happened a couple of times. But it worries me. It could easily kill someone. Or destroy my house.

I don't know if the "explosion" is the trigger for the headache or vice versa. I've been keeping a headache diary. It's here.

Seth hands him the notebook he's been clutching. It's filled with annotated lists of headaches, food consumption, possible enviromental triggers, impressions etc. Each headache is rated in intensity, and 5 of those have a small nuclear symbol attached.

Seth points to the symbol "That means one in which i...had an event. It's happened two other times with no associated headache.

Kyle listens and flips through the notebook.  He periodically checks the file for something, then goes back to the notebook.

"Okay."  He says, handing the notebook back.  "The test I want to do involves injecting a cluster of specializd medical nanobots into your blood.  They'll migrate to the area where the tumor is and basically look around.  Then they'll make their way to your bladder and pass.  We'll collect data from them while they're inside and then collect their onboard data once you pass them.  Then we crunch the data through the computer in the basement and I find out if we can treat the tumor or not.  You ready to get started?"

Seth was vaguely uncomfortable with the idea of "specialized medical nanobots" but not so uncomfortable as to dismiss the idea out of hand...

"OK" Seth said.

"So do i drink a suspension or is it an injection? Stick a petri dish up to my eye while they...embark?"

Kyle gets up and goes to a small refridgerator, taking out a bottle of water.  He holds it up, "Instant transport, just add nanobots."  He hands Seth the bottle.  "They're not experimental, they aren't dangerous, and your not a lab rat.  They're in use by the government and they're well tested and very safe.  In about a decade they'll likely be a standard diagnostic tool in medicine."

Seth started to feel a little better. The man had a reassuring bed side manner, not that seth was thinking about that consciously.

He grabbed the bottle politely, and made a cheers motion with the bottle.

He got one last nanobot free look at the world, and then unscrewed the cap and began to drink. It tasted like water.

"I'd like to say that you'll feel better."  Kyle began, "But you wont really feel any different.  There were about twenty-five thousand nanobots in that bottle, and in about twenty minutes you'll be peeing them into a cup and it'll be over.  Not as cool as a high rez mri or dyna-med scanner, but a lot more effective for this kind of thing."

In the meantime...What would you like me to do?

Seth had questions. Dozens of them, but he didn't want to jump into them unless this wasn't the only thing the good doctor needed of him.

"Nothing.  The nanomeds know what to do."

(OOC, we need to have a chat about the nature of seth's powers before we continue this i think.

"So how exactly is all of this being paid for.

Not that I, me in particular, have one, but i doubt my HMO covers sub-orbital flights and nanobot infusions."

Seth was curious. It always bode well to know who you owed a favor to...

"Back in the 1950s my grandfather made a lot of money, illegally.  He ran an underground clinic for super heroes, and super villains.  It was illegal to be a super back in the 50s and 60s, and so they couldn't get care in most places.  And I married well."  He opens his hands in a wide arc, "My wife's company.  We keep a fund in place to finance the treatment of paranormals that normally couldn't afford it, special cases that need help regular medicine and medical insurance can't cover.  Since you're not poor, someday I'll probably ask you to make a donation to one of the charity foundations that help fund the special treatment units."

"Then someday I'll probably repay my debt."

I don't have any more questions that can't really wait until later. Not medical one's an....

Seth stopped. A new train of thought suddenly laid down tracks.

"Can you tell me anything about the nature of telekinesis. I know after you get the data, you''ll have more information about mine. What causes it...etc.

But just in general. I can effect almost anything i want. But I can't pick myself up.

I've tried. I've been practicing. But I can't fly. And i would really like to.

"Well, pure self generated telekinesis  can be hard to use for flight.  From what I've read I know it can be done, It's just a mental point of reference issue.  There are some white papers I could give you that talk about the principals if you'd like?"

"I would really appreciate it.

And if you know of any Tekes who are out there, with some experience under their belt that wouldn't mind giving lessons. I would be all for it.

I actually would really like to meet Jean Gray, down on the Defenders. Ive watched her articles in the news for a while. I think she could answer some questions and help in my growth...And she's really pretty.

Kyle chuckles, "She is pretty, can't argue with that.  as for teachers, I don't know many psis, it tends to be the rarest of the paranormal power sets in humans on average."  Kyle goes over to his computer and works for a minute or so, taking a blank Cd from a drawer he burns some files to it and gives it to Seth.  "These are all the things I have on the various techniques that have been documented.  Maybe some of this will help you figure out how to fly."

grabbing the disk, and nodding his thanks, Seth settles back into the chair.

So I guess now, I just wait until I have to pee?

"Do you know, or are you aware of a man named Mr. Fortune." Seth could say other things, but he wanted the doctor's reaction first. If he didn't know, Seth had to tell him. That much was sure

Kyle's brow furrowed.  "What he doesn't tell you is the J on his card stands for Jipp.  It's a demon name.  When I was in high school a friend of mine got promised his dream, which was a career in the NHL, all he had to do was give up his super powers."

I thought as much. Everything about the man screamed to me that he was some kind of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Demon to good to be true.

His references check out impeccably. My father put him through the wash. He came out clean. My mother has been practically screaming down my thought to take the deal, but every time i thought about it i just got tingles down my spine.

Now I feel justified in not taking it.

Someone needs to take that man out. Banish him back to hell or something.

Not that I'm super crazy about the idea that there is a hell or demons or anything like that. But the whole thing just really struck of Faust.

"A friend of minet hat was part of the magic world explained it one night.  It's sort of like a cosmic stock exchange.  There are good guys and bad guys.  In the middle are people trying to get their side an advantage.  The dark forces use greed and wish fullfillment, since to them it's all part of the master plan they can afford to make good on their promises, because if they don't the other side comes down on them.  Jipp is one of those guys that you can't get rid of for long.  My friend made the same desicion, he didn't take the deal and ended up getting what he wanted anyway.  Even if he had to cheat a little to pull it off."

"Ok"

(OOC- i guess it's time for him to pee now, barring anything else you want to throw at me)

Kyle give Seth everything he needs and some privacy in the bathroom.  A few minutes later the deed is complete and Seth gives the sealed container to Kyle.  "That's it.  I'll go over the data and then probably come see you in a few days.  I'd prefer we keep this between us, until you have a chance to hear any options I can offer and think about them.  Then, if you would feel more comfortable you can bring your folks into the loop."

Seth gave the man a full and firm handshake.

"Thank you. Really.

This is much more helpful to me than you could know. I owe you a solid, and i don't like being in someone's debt for very long. So f there is anything you ever need...You have my cell phone number"

"I'd say don't worry about it, but you're the type that would anyway.  So take care.  The woman who drove you here will take you back to the airport and you should be home before midnight."  Kyle walks Seth to the lobby where the woman rises from a chair and leads the way out.  "I'll be in touch."  Kyle says as Seth heads back home.

Seth engages the woman in idle conversation on the way back to the plane(spacecraft?).

Once there, he plugs into his iPod and is lost amongst the strains of Bear McCreary's 3rd season soundtrack to Battlestar galactica.

He's not looking forward to what he was going to tell his parents about his mysterious absence.  He knew he would come up with something....
