Seth was getting stir crazy. He had been sitting in this chair while one of his mother's friends applied the forehead prosthetic.

It itched. God it itched. He was sitting on his hands at this point. And the costume was hot. But it looked good. Particularly after his mother had took it in around the waist. Not without telling him he needed to eat better.

And he remarked that she had a smaller waist then even he did. And they bickered in spanish in front of her friend and so then he decided to hold his tongue.

And now he itched...

When he was sufficiently coated in spirit gum, he was allowed to tap his itch with his finger. It helped. He applied his contact lenses, and suddenly everything was coated in a murky blackness.

His father finished loading the car with the music stuff he had agreed to bring and then he was off to the party.

Pulling up, Seth got out of the sedan, playing attention so as not to get his cape stuck in the door.

He texted Greg, Elrod, and Kel. He needed some help moving all the stuff into the party without attracting the attention that would arise from simply doing it himself.

Dave and Greg arrived to help, "Elrod sends his apologies but he and Sammy are playing hide and seek so he doesn't want to give away his position."  Dave explains as they carry stuff inside.

"You look pretty creepy with those contacts in dude."  Greg says, and Dave groans.  "What?"

"You tried the vampire movie, and you hated it."  Dave replaies.

"Because you suck as a vampire."

Dave groans again, but a moment later he and Greg laugh at the bad pun.

Seth kind of snort laughs at the bad pun...

It's not too long before, the flutes, keyboard, guitar, and speaker systems are all unloaded and placed where they needed to go.

Once that's done, and he's thanked his gentleman helpers, Seth makes his way to the liquor, and in the absence of Tanqueray decides to go with the standby classic of Beer. Little Red dixie cup and all.

He mingles around the party seeing who he knows, making the smallest of talk, and complimenting those whose costumes he deems "wicked".

As Seth makes his way around a girl attaches herself to his arm.  She's dressed in an Edwardian gown with a wig and makeup.  "You look delicious."  she says with a smile, "I thought you'd never get here, what took you so long?"

"I was enjoying the pleasures of the night." Seth replies with a little more panache than he was normally entitled to. Must be the costume. "I don't believe I've yet had the pleasure...." He says, as he brings her hand waist high, and leans into kiss it. Or perhaps take a bite.

"Oh my god."  she says, her free hand coming to her lips, a second later she laughs.  "I'm so sorry, I thought you were someone else."  she laughs again, "I should have known he'd never be so suave."  She curtsies.  "Perhaps you'd be willing to keep me company instead, since I think I've been stood up."

Normally that would depend on how big "he" was. But seeing such a fine Edwardian lady, I think he could be a giant, and I wouldn't care.

Seth...And you are?

"Emma.  It's nice to meet you Seth."  she takes his arm and looks around, "He's not a giant.  It's a mercy date actually.  He just broke up with his girlfriend and didn't want to come alone, so I agreed to come as his victim."  She shows Seth her neck, and on the right side are two tiny bite marks.  "His loss is your gain."  she says with a grin.

OOC: Just makeup, but very realistic appliances.

"Would you like to dance? Or would you like a drink? Either would be this undead's pleasure."

Seth adds a head roll, and a hair flick. He can't remember the last time flirting came this easily to him.

Must be the costume.

"I'd love to dance."  she says, changing directions to go towards the music.

Seth follows, and begins to move to the music on the way...

He checks her out from behind. Somewhat subtly...(OOC- what does she look like)

When he reaches the place she has selected on the dance floor....(assuming the proper music) he begins to dance. Basic stuff. Getting comfortable and loose at this point.

"Do you know the tango?"

"A strange question from a guy your age."  she says, "Stranger still is the fact that I actually knowing how to tango."

Emma has the body of a dancer, and from the way she moves it's obvious that she has the training to go with it.  She effortlessly glides into a tango, and let's Seth take the lead.

OOC: There is another image of her, but this one had a far more sexy look to it.

Well I've been learning it recently. It might be my favorite dance....

He let his voice trail off as she began to swivel her hips. Feet began to clack on the hard ground, and Seth let the music guide him as well.

He gripped her hand, and pumped their arms straight horizontal. A double leg cross march and suddenly they were doing the tango...

A few cross marches later and it was time for the twirl. He lashed her out like his arm was a whip, and she began to spin. She released herself from his grasp, and began to do something of a solo...Once she was finished she turned in pose to look at him and clearly it was his turn.

He began to snap his hands (one arm vertical and one arm horizontal) switching their positions after every snap. He began a leg twist kick routine, and Let his arms reach up to untie his cape. Once that was completed he swirled it around him like a matador to a bolero. Letting it go with a twirling snap, he extended his other arm so that they could continue their tango again.

Emma is a natural, and she can easily follow Seth's lead.  She's obviously enjoying herself because as they dance a smile has begun to brighten her face.  One moment, during a pause when they're looking into each other's eyes she whispers in a breathless tone, "Where have you been all year?"  And then they are back into the dance.

The next time they face each other in the tango's embrace Seth replies "Learning to tango of course".

And then the dance continued...

When the pair were finished Emma smiled, "I have to say I'm glad I got stood up."  She wrapped her arms around one of Seth's and started to head towards the main hall.  "I could use a cold drink."

Once they had gotten some drinks Emma led Seth out onto what had been a patio off the main entrance hall.  There was a brass fire pit there that had been lit to ward off the chill, and some benches had been moved so people could sit near the fire.  "Well, I just wanted to tell you that you are the best dance partner I've had in a while."

"I could say the same, and sound totally unoriginal. Or i could say that you were the prettiest dance partner I've had. Seth smiled, as he reattached his cape.

So tell me a little more about yourself...Are you a freshman? Senior?

Other than dancing, what do you like to do for fun...?

"Sophmore."  she replies, helping him get his cape adjusted.  "Let's see, fun."  She taps her finger to her chin for a few moments, "Haven't really done much of that yet this year.  Dance is a full time commitment for me.  I finally decided to do this party thing when my frinend begged me to be his date.  You can see how that turned out.  What about you, other than dance what is your outlet?"

"I play and write music. Save Kittens from trees. Old ladies across the street. That kind of thing.   Seth manages to get that across with the proper amount of coyness.

Mostly just the music though.

Probably the most important question I could ask you...Who's your favorite band? He's talking about music now watch out!

"Johnny Cash."  she says, "If I only get to pick one.  I have very eclectic taste in music."  Emma slides a little closer to Seth for warmth.  "You write music, I do a little writing.  Nothing has really stuck this year though, nothing that isn't sad for some reason."

The man in black is classic for a reason.

As Emma slid closer to him, Seth in the grand tradition of teenage boys figuring out the birds and the bees, almost unconsciously slips his arm around her.

"Sad doesn't have to be bad. Unless it is?...If that makes any sense. Some of the best songs in the world are sad ones. Same goes for poetry.

Take Johnny Cash for example."

Seth had an errant thought...."I would really like to kiss you right now."

Seth is interrupted by a hand on his shoulder.  A glance shows him it's John.  "Sorry, but Donnie's looking for everyone.  That thing he needed help with."

Great timing. Seth thought sarcastically to himself.

"Emma, I hate to be that guy, But i really have to go. This is something I can't blow off. I made a promise.

Allthough I do plan on complaining about it loudly.

Will you excuse me? I promise to find you as soon as I'm done.

"Sure.  I'll be around, you go take care of whatever it is."

Some 15ish minutes later, Seth tries to find his way back to Emma.

"Hey you."  she says, "That was fast.  Obviously not world shattering whatever it was?"

Not quite anyway...Just working a little magic behind the scenes.

Some more dancing?...More in the hey we're teenagers lean thing kind of dance vein of dancing?

"I suppose more dancing would be in order."  She glides up next to him.  "I'm all for the teeaged close dancing.  Not nearly as hard on the joints."  She wraps her arms around one of his, "Lead the way my vampire prince."

Vampire Prince...I like that. He says as he leads her to the dance floor by the hand. He maneuvers his way in through the dancing crowd...Almost to the center...a little off center actually. And then he pulls her gently by the arm in front of her.

"Here is good?" he asks in somewhat broken grammar.

He gives her a real(OOC- 16 Charisma)smile.

She's pretty. And Seth finds his mind oddly attentive to her lips...

An awkward moment passes, and she licks her lips, then seems to realize what she did.  Another moment passes.  she leans her had against his chest and starts to pretend to dance, like regular teenagers.

Seth keeps it together...Barely.

By the skin of his little metaphorical teeth, he keeps it together.

When she leans her head on his chest...he can feel his heart start to beat wildly. It's not sexual. It's just a feeling of intimacy... of closeness he's not ready for yet. That excitement when someone touches you...really touches you for the first time.

For all of Seth's discipline, it almost didn't happen. But he managed to slow his heart to it's regular rhythm. Finally.

And then they began to dance...like two regular teenagers. The intimacy was nice. It felt good. Tingly good...

But in the back of Seth's mind...there were fears about it. Deep seated ones. One's he feared he would never be able to shake completely.

So instead he danced....and enjoyed the moment. The pretty girl listening to his crazy modulating heart beat. And he smiled.
