Kel sighed after he got back from the game.  Another loss, he was surprised John was a good quarter back, maybe it was just the rest of the team.  Kel couldn't say he cared much for the football team's standings, but it was annoying to be cheering on a team that wasn't winning.  Still, the party was now fast approaching, he didn't have a date anymore but he was still going to have some fun, maybe get a little action.
It took him a little bit to get his hair right and properly tucked away beneath the hat, then he tugged on some slacks, buttoning a nice proper shirt, fumbling through the tie and then finally digging through his closet for a proper coat.  After a good solid hour of preparation, he picked up a magnifying glass and admired himself in the mirror before saying, "Elementary my dear Watson." to no one in particular.  He tugged the hat a bit tighter, "Hope my hair stays in place."  Then he began his long trek for the party's location.
Once there he slipped amongst the masses and went on the prowl for his friends, as well as new acquaintances.

The crowd was pretty much what you'd expect for a Janush party.  Everyone.  There were probably close to a hundred people at the party at any given time, and it was easy to get lost.  Kel had spotted the table where some of the usual suspects were, and also managed to find the band with no difficulty.  Once on his way out of the room where the band was playing he bumped into a girl who was dressed as a mouse, a blind mouse complete with dark glasses, tin cup, and walking stick.  A few minutes later he turned from teh buffet table and bumped into her again.  It was as he was coming out of the bathroom and bumped into her a third time that they actually had a conversation, "I recognize that scent."  She said with a smile, "Please tell me that's the bathroom behind you."

He let his own nose sniff the air to make sure he wasn't smelling anything different and then said, "Yes it is."  He then smirks, "You've been bumping into me a lot tonight, there any reason for that?"

She smiles, "Maybe your a klutz."  she says.  "Would you be a dear and wait here, it took me forever to get here and I lost count, I might need a hand back to the band room."

"Uh sure..." Kel says slightly confused as he waits.  He couldn't even think of a good quip to make.

OOC: Her mouse costume is a head piece (like a hat), round foam body with a tail and big foam feet.  You can't see much of her, but she has nice legs.  Her tights are the same gray as her mouse suit.

"Thanks."  She disappears into the bathroom and a few minutes later, long minutes, she comes back out.  "Who knew it would be so hard for girl mice to go to the toilet."  she says jokingly.  She holds out her arm for Kel.  "How about I buy you a drink for being such a gentleman?"

Kel smiles, gently wrapping one of his arms around hers, "Well I can never refuse a drink from a young lady."  He begins walking making sure to keep a good pace with her, "You have a very interesting costume to say the least."

"It's what I wore last year, but we just moved here so I figured no one would know.  I was kind of suprised to get an invitation, Elrod and I have an economics class, he found out I was a new student and invited me.  Seemed like a nice ting to do."

Kel nods, "Yea, Elrod seems to be a nice guy.  His sister's a bit of a bitch though, she's the one being carried around if you were unaware."  He then looks back at her and says, "Just moved here, eh?  Whereabouts, I've travelled a lot over the years."

We travelled a lot too.  Mom just took a position at the university hospital, dad's due to be rotated here for his last tour as a recruiter downtown in a few months, we came out ahead of him.  Again."  Kel recognizes the pattern, it's what a lot of military familes did.  His family did it in reverse, dad went on ahead and then Kel and mom came later usually.  That was until mom decided to stay in Japan.

Kel sighs and says, "Yea...my dad does that too.  Actually he's a recruiter as well."  He sighs and gives a laugh, "Marines, anvy, army, air force?  What's your trouble?

"Navy."  she says with a resigned tone as they reach the buffet tables.  "Mom's a doctor, so she always had work at the clinics on base, but this time she made him choose Chicago, so she could start really pursuing her career."  She begins to navigate the table, finding the cups and then the ice.  "What's your poison?"  she says holding up the ice filled cups.

"Whiskey of course." Kel says and then contiues, "But enough about our families, what's your name?  How do ya like Oak Park?"

She hands him a glass, "Well, if you can find me some cola that isn't diet I'd appreciate it."  She says, "As for Whiskey, you're on your own, I didn't smell any when I came through earlier."

"I'm Breanna."  She says when Kel inquiers about her name.  "Not that that's gonna help I guess since I'm noe to the school."

Kel fumbles about for some soda, and if he can't find whiskey grabs himself a beer.  "Well I'm Kel." And then he says as his curiousity gets the better of him, "Not to be rude.  But you really are aren't you?" He hopes his inference is enough that he doesn't have to say it.

Breanna tilts her head slightly, then realization crosses her face, "Oh.  Yes.  As blind as a fence post."  she says, holding up her cane as if it were an identity card.  "You?"

"20/20 Last I checked." He then tries to move away from the awkwardness of his question, "So uh, what do you like to do?"

"Well, I like movies, and good books.  I've been looking for a good metal or alternative club, but there are so many in the city I'm not sure which ones are any good.  I like regular stuff I guess, except makeup, cloths shopping and gossip.  What about you, you got any hobbies or are you one of those straight A students with not time for fun?"

Kel gives a hearty laugh letting his arm slip around her shoulder and said, "Breanna you just ran into the right guy.  I know plenty of good metal clubs you would enjoy.  I definitely enjoy a good movie, the occassional book is nice.  Like plenty of physical stuff, sparring and boxing.  And promise you won't laugh, but I'm on the cheerleading team."

"Cheerleading, that's cool.  I like sparring too, but I'm a little slow.  I had to switch to this Russian martial art that you practice in slow motion.  It's pretty okay.  But the club thing, that's certainly worth keeping you around."  Breanna smiles.

Kel smirks, "Glad to know I'm of use, and more than happy to hear about someone else who enjoys odd martial arts." He then thinks to himself and says, "Speaking of a little fun, do you want to go explore the house a bit?"

"Sure.  Just so long as this isn't some cheap ploy to get me somewhere and then abandon the blind chick.  I've played those games before."

Kel laughed a little and said, "Wow when you said cheap ploy I was really expecting that sentence to end differently.  But it's definitely no to what you said."

"Okay then."  she says, offering her arm, "Lead the way."

Kel smiles, grabbing a flashlight in one hand and wrapping his other arm about hers.  He then leads her into the halls and then says as they walk, 'So you mentioned you had a class with Elrod, are you a senior too?"

"No, Freshman, but I got the Economics class because I have enough advanced math that I'm eligible for it as an elective.  What about you, what year are you?"

Kel feels a little knot untwist in his stomach, he hadn't even realized it had been there.  "Freshman too.  So you're a good at math?  I personally am bad with numbers."

"Eh."  she says with a shrug.  "It all just seems to make sense if you have to imagine it all in your head.  Not being able to look at the numbers means I have to break it all down into smaller bits, so it's less intimidating."  Breanna leans on Kell a little as they make their way up the stairs.  "You must work out, or your tense.  Your biceps are like rocks."

Kel says, "A little bit of both actually.  I work out every morning and some afternoons, and of course holding up ninety pound girls when all you can really grasp is their foot or ass isn't as easy as we make it look.  But I'm also a little tense at the moment, with all the crazy stuff that's been happening at our school this year.  I mean the last time the Janushes threw a party there was some giant snake monster that showed up, I can't lie and say that I'm not worried something like that might happen here."  He then pauses and says, "Plus it's hard to find cool girls and well, I don't want to make an ass of myself."

"That's sweet, a guy that doesn't want to make an ass out of himself."  Breanna says as they make their way around upstairs.  They've found a balcony on the upper floor that looks out over the back of the property.  There is a slight chill to the air.  Kel can see the form of what he assumes is one of Donnie's dragons flying around in the night throwing spooky shadows across the ground.  "This must look cool, we should be able to see the whole back acerage from up here."  Breanna says.

A sound from the hall draws both their attention, and John is standing in the doorway.  "Sorry."   he says, "Ah, Donnie was hoping you could help him out with that thing he talked about."  John is trying not to say anything too obvious.

Kel gives a sigh and says, "Does Donnie know I'm busy entertaining a wonderful young lady, or is it really that pressing?"  He makes no attempt to whisper knowing that Breanna will hear him no matter what, but tries to make it seem as if anything Donnie's asking him for won't be that important though given the amount of people here there's only one thing Donnie'd need him for.

John seems quiet for a second, then turns, "You'll have to discuss it with him, he's pretty serious.  I need to find Seth."  Then he heads back down the hall.

"Brrr."  Breanna says, "Serious that one.  He sould learn to loosen up before he strains something."

Kel gives a small laugh and says, "Yea, we best head back towards the rest of the party.  It's probably nothing big but just in case you know."  He leads her back as quickly as he can without seeming like he's moving quickly and on the way he says, "Hey if I don't see you later, could I maybe call you or something?"

"Dumping me already?  That's cheap, make all nice and then take off.  You cad."  she smiles and takes a sharpie from her purse, "Got someplace I can write my number?"  he tone implies she's not looking for a piece of paper.

Kel smirks and opens his coat and shirt, bending himself so that his abs make a neat writing place as he leads her hand to it, "That should be perfect."  Once her number is down across his chest Kel smiles as he buttons the shirt back up.  He says, "I'll catch you later ok?  Don't be a stranger."  He then leans in and gives her a light kiss on the lips before heading off into the thick of the party looking for Donnie and the rest of the crew.

OOC: It's not until later that he realizes, she wrote it backwards (in big numbers) so he could reasd it in the mirror.

When Kel returns he smiles at her and says, "Sorry 'bout that, my friend's idea of important well, it wasn't too life threatening."  He tries to play it off cool, hoping she won't figure he's lying through his teeth.

"Well, that's good.  You wanna dance, or are you not the dancing type?"

He wrapped his fingers into hers and lead her towards the dance floor, saying, "I've been known to dance now and then."  Once on the dance floor, he tries to flow with the music and says to her, "'Course, I'm not really that good..."  Hopefully since she can't see it, she won't realize just how terrible I am, Kel thinks as he proceeds to white-guy dance.

After a moment she chuckles, "Please stop.  I have the feeling I should be embarassed."  She moves closer to him, pulling him up against her, and putting one of his hands on her butt (well, her mouse suit butt).  "Here, let's slow dance for a while and hope no one mistakes you for the blind one after that dance."  She smiles and leans her head against him, then ends up taking her mouse head off since it's getting in the way.

Kel laughs, "I was hopin' you wouldn't notice.  Oh well, yea, I'm not the best dancer around."  He then smiles as she takes off the mouse head and he lets his lips graze her head.  He let's his eyes wander over her face, "Was wondering when I'd get to see you without the mouse head."

"Eh, not much difference, except my real nose isn't as long."  It's said like someone who doesn't know that she's beautiful, but gets told she is all the time and has decided people are only saying it to be nice.  "Later I'll do that blind come on where I feel your face.  guys really dig that."  She smiles, the sarcasm in her tone is evident.

Kel smiles as he sees her beautiful face, and then she mentions rubbing her hands across his and he just laughs and says, "I wouldn't mind if yer being serious."  He then gives her butt a little clench and laughs, "Besides, I already have my hands on you."

Breanna laughs at that and continues to dance.  "When you asked about me being blind earlier, you seemed a little nervous.  It doesn't creep you out or anything, does it?"

Kel shakes his head and then says, "I was more nervous that you weren't and you'd get offended or something.  Or you'd just be offended that I couldn't tell."  He shrugs and then says, "But it doesn't really bother me at all.  My best friend has two moms, I spent a summer travelling through Tokyo pretty much alone and met plenty of weirdos, I grew up on military bases.  I guess after awhile, out of the ordinary becomes normal."  He glosses over the parts about knowing his best friend being able to create illusions and control people's emotions, the cheerleading captain's ability to run faster than most sports cars, or the fact that he could bench press both, and her without breaking a sweat.

"That's good.  It's been tough to make friends sometimes.  I'm glad I came to this party."

"I am too." Kel said as he brought he gave her a small hug.  He then says, "Sooooo...I got nothin'.  What were we talking about before I had to run off?"

She looks up and smiles, "I don't care."  she says, setting her head against his chest.  "That was then, and you're back now."

Kel nods and then says, "So want to talk, or is the dancing good enough?"

"You strike me as a man of action."  she says softly, "I'm happy dancing, unless you want to go somewhere and talk."

He smirks and gives her a light kiss, "No you were right the first time, I am a man of action."
