As usual, Colin had to come to the party by bike, so he had to carry his costume in his usual backpack, and to put it on in one of the bathrooms, so now he was checking himself in the stained mirror. He promised Mama Walters he would have done something nice for her in exchange for her, because she did a pretty good job. His costume is homemade, but looks really nice. A brown kimono and hakama (a wide pleated skirt) that cost him quite some time on the net untile he finally learned how to tie it. On top of that a black haori (a ceremonial open coat). It was the most interesting part for him, because he got to design his own mon, a circlet with a stylized blackbird within, that he drew on both his shoulders, while on the back he painted a blackbird perched on a cherry tree, against the sun rising from the sea in the background. He also asked Jack for one of his bokken (wooden Japanese sword) and tucked it in his obi (belt). But he was most proud of how he managed to arrange his hair in a believable topknot.

With a satisfied smile he packs his normal clothes in his bag and leaves the bathroom to look for Sarah.

Late, as usual, Sarah makes her way to the party.  The makeup alone took more time then she could have possibly imagined.  I thought it would be like putting on that white mask for clown make-up.  Who knew?  Thank god Mom seemed to know something about it.

It was sort of weird but Sarah's mother knew quite a lot about helping her get dressed as a geisha.  Finally she was ready and then it was into the car and driving with her mom reminding her about all the things to do and not do and on and on.  Sarah didin't really mind.  She looked awesome, in her own opinion and the kimono her mom helped her find was gorgeous.  She swore a private oath to avoid getting any monstrous slime, blood or other nastiness on it even if she had get naked.  Call her paranoid but she had a dark feeling that something was going to happen tonight. 

Finally they are at the party and with a kiss on her mom's cheek Sarah is out the door.

She rings the doorbell and enters walking softly and respectfully as her mom showed her in a couple of quick lessons.

Sarah loves dancing with Colin and when he draws her close for a slow dance she snuggles in his arms.  She puts her head on his shoulder and sighs happily.  She realizes that she hasn't bothered to hunt for any witches or other assorted evil here tonight.  She just wanted to dance and have fun.  Like I'm some sort of teenager!  What am I thinking! 

She smiles at the sarcastic thought and holds close to Colin.  I'm sure someone will spoil my fun soon enough.

On an devilish whim she smiles up at Colin and leans back.  "Did you know that traditionally the kimono is worn without underwear?  It's to prevent any unsightly lines from showing beneath the flow of the fabric.  They would put on a slip underneath but current fashion for young women is to just wear a collar around the neck like this one."  She trails her fingers down the dark orange collar beneath her robe from her neck to where the sides of the robe meet.  Thank you internet for providing such interesting information! 

A little after the 10PM band change Dave findscolin and Sarah.  "Hey, they're here.  Donnie and some of the others are in the main hallway scoping it out.  John's looking for Kel and Seth even as we speak."

Colin wraps his arms around her, trying to find a good answer. Feeling her against him, it's too not difficult.

"They probably trusted their men to keep them warm enough." he simply says.


Colin nods to Dave, but his arms don't let Sarah go for several moments, and even then, they do it very reluctantly.

"It's time. Donnie needs us."

He puts his arms around her as before.

"You saved the day once again, wondergirl. And you even resisted the temptation to kick Jane's ass. I'm proud of you. Just kidding."

"I believe you were saying something about kimonos and underwear. Somehow the image stack with me. What were you trying to do, check how many shades of red I could become?" he grins.

"Ha.  I certainly wanted to but I felt a little guilty about taking a swing at her like this.  Maybe some other time," says Sarah.  She shrugs and snuggles close. 


She says, "Something like that."  

After a moment she adds, "I'm sorry, it was a devilish impulse." 

"Sorry? Why? I like when you're naughty."

He leans in to kiss her ear lobe. And her neck just below her ear.

"I really will get used to this relationship stuff," says Sarah with a smile.  "Don't kiss me too much," she laughs, "Wait that sounds terrible!  It's just that we'll both end up looking like clowns with all this makeup I have on." 

Sarah leans back with a suspicious look on her face.  "Maybe that's why my mom was so happy to help me with the geisha makeup.  Hmmm.  It's probably a good thing I brought some stuff to wash the makeup off if I wanted to." 

She snuggles close to Colin wrapping her arms around his neck.  She says, "I hope that's the end of the coven and all their trouble.  It was almost anticlimactic though.  I zap her and Donnie uses his spell and that's it.  On the other hand it's nice to go to a party where I don't get covered in ectoplasmic goo."

"I'd wait to say that. They can't use their magic for bad things anymore, but they'll probably be quite mad when they find out. And I really want to see if I can do something for Rob. I think I owe him that. Only then this chapter will be over for me."

He smiles at her.

"But all of this can wait till tomorrow. Tonight it just feels good that I won't ever have to doubt again about this." and he kisses her on her lips, trying not to ruin her make up too much, but quickly forgetting about it...
