A couple minutes after she gets to the music room the door opens and Elrod comes in.  "Hey, heard you needed a drink."  he says, handing her a bottle of fruit punch.  "How's your Monday going?"

She does a couple of takes back and forth between the fruit punch and Elrod.  "You're freaking me out, dude.  How'd you...?  Oh.  Dave or Greg, right?  I'm all right.  How are you?"

"Yes, my spies are everywhere.  well, I guess I'm actually one of Dave's spies though, it all works out the same."  He finds a spot to sit near her, "So, you're okay, which means I'm just here to deliver drinks and listen to you play."  He lays back on the floor with his hands behind his head and closes his eyes.

She tosses her iPod to him.  "Not much to listen to today, I'm afraid.  I liked your jazz band from the other night, so I downloaded some of their songs and found some sheet music in the same style and was just trying to work it out for myself.  Its real rough right now.  It'll be a lot better by this time next week."  She swallows some of the punch.  "I'm glad you're here though, a little bit because there are some things you ought to know about, but mostly I'm just glad you're here."  She sits down crosslegged on the floor next to him.  "Remember what I told you about me on Saturday night?  Well, with that in mind, I need you to try to keep your sister away from Fern Michaels, for Lisa's safety.  It seems that Fern might be really bad news."

"That shouldn't be hard.  They had a falling out last week.  Something about not asking Megan to do something, blah, blah, blah cheerleading."  He makes a hand sign for talking.  "There was door slamming and by the time I came out of the den Fern was gone."

"It was right about then that the pink hoodie went missing, wasn't it?  The person who knocked down the flagpole at the football game the other week -- she was wearing that pink hoodie.  That's the same person who took out the section of bleachers when one of the other cheerleaders was sitting there."  Sammy shifts her position and continues. "I think she's getting revenge for something.  There's a strong chance that she was hit with that 'love goo' too, and I'm wondering if she's blaming the other cheerleaders for that -- some kind of jealousy thing, or a practical joke, I dunno.  I just have no idea where it all begins."

"She's a teenaged girl.  No offense, but there doesn't have to be a rational explanation for one of you going bonkers and trying to get revenge against your peers."

"Don't make me spin you around the room," Sammy says with a grin.  "Because I can, dammit.  I really don't care why she's doing it; I only care that she might have been Goo-ed and who might have done it because I was gooed, and I want to go bonkers and get revenge.  It's all about me-eee-eee, don't you see?"  Maybe its the sugar in the fruit punch boosting up a borderline case of low blood sugar.  Or maybe its him.  She's not as grumpy as she was a little while ago.

"I rest my case."  he says with a smile, leaning up to kiss her on the cheek.  "All women are crazy and all men are stupid.  It's how the sexes view each other in general."

"Yes, and... ?"  She laughs suddenly.  Her voice is playful, and her expression dares him to push back.  "You're trying to distract me.  It almost worked too.  Well, since your sister is probably as safe as she can be under the circumstances, I'll drop the entire subject and give you half a win."

EXTRA TEXT ADDED  Sammy gets up off the floor and picks up her horn.  "But only half.  You're stuck listening to me practice now."  Unless she's interrupted, she plays, trying to figure out her own solution to the secret behind the music she heard the other night.
