Arrangements are made and people make their way to Fern's house.

After cheerleading practice was over, Megan rushed home at top speed, dropping off her things and changing into costume and then speeding back towards the place they were going to meet near Fern’s.  She zips around the area some, waiting for some people to start showing up before she will make her way over towards them.

Once everyone's in place, Sylvia goes up to Fern's door, much like before, and rings the doorbell.

Sammy stops at a grocery store on the way to Fern's house.  She buys two gallons of distilled water and a super-sized bottle of liquid soap.  The water is to flush out acid from eyes, and the soap should be enough of a base to slow down the acid if somebody gets hit.  She doesn't bother with the whole costume thing as there probably isn't enough time to buy what she needs and change too.

She places the soap and water next to a car across the street from Fern's house, and goes airborne to wait for the others.  Nobody ever looks up.

Kel arrives with his ski mask in pocket, and settles himself in a nearby tree ready to leap into action, hiding himself as best as he can.

Fern opens the door, and puts on a smile when she see's Sylvia.  "Hey, what brings you here?"

John sends a text message to Megan letting her know he's nearby and can see Sylvia.

Megan will text back asking where he is so she can go and stage near by and he can tell her when and if they need to act.

John gives Megan directions to where he's at and they wait to see what happens.

Megan zips over to where John is waiting, gives him a superspeed kiss on the check and then waits as he watches Sylvia.  She is ready to take off the moment he says there is a problem, thinking about the path she will take to get there and help Sylvia.

Donnie is somewhere near Sylvia, under the cloak of his Invisibility spell. His hands hold the Ray Charles spell, strengthened and ready to fling at Fern.  Pip awaits in a tree in the front yard, ready to dive-bomb the girl should she attack Sylcia.

"Hey."  Sylvia looks suitably grave and subdued as she puts forth her pretense for the visit.  "Just wanted to know if maybe you'd heard anything more about the thing a few weeks back."  She seems respectfully reluctant to bring it up.  "The Brody thing.  In the lunch room."

"No."  her mood darkens some.  "I thought it might get sorted out, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen."

Sylvia draws on something Smith told her the previous Sunday, voice dropping to a gentle, sympathetic, soothing rhythm.  It's a little like hypnosis, or a lullaby for the anguished mind  "I've got some people looking at what happened.  It wasn't your fault.  Whoever got you was using some kind of pheromone."

"Is that gonna change anything?  I don't understand why the principal is being so stupid about this.  I don't see why he banned me fromt eh squad for the whole year.  He didn't do anything to that jerk, but he made sure to ruin my year."

"Maybe we can go to him with the evidence."  Sylvia steps back, out of armsreach.  "He'll have to reverse his decision, then, won't he?  I mean, if not, we can raise a big stink about the unfairness of it all and the fact that you were just a victim."

"Why do you care so much, last time I looked you were doing fine on the squad.  Why would you want to help me?"

Sylvia states it like it's obvious.  "Because it's not right, what happened.  You shouldn't be punished for something that was out of your control."  Then she pauses.  "But you should be punished for everything you've done that was totally in your control."

She holds up a hand and uses some of those commando signals Jack's been teaching them.  Be ready.

Fern's eyes narrow.  "What's that supposed to mean?  I didn't deserve to get banned for the year.  It's totally unfair, and Diane was totally not going to help me get back on the squad.  Now that Lisa is over at Fenwick she's not even going to talk to Megan for me.  and now Megan is gonna be squad Captain, I've been with the squad longer then her."  Fern's voice has been getting louder the whole time, and after she finishes she screams.

Sammy is distracted by some pigeons which suddenly fly up from a nearby yard, evading a fat orange cat.  She thinks,"Wonder if Mom would let me get a kitten?"

Megan is trying her best to watch form where she is with John, and doing a pretty good job of keeping her attention towards the house.

Kel notices that Fern's scream is slightly gurgly, like she was gargeling(sp?) with water.  Then she looks like she's going to spit on Sylvia.

John touches Megan's arm and says "Trouble."  and bolts from his hiding spot, across the street and is between Fern and Sylvia in the blink of an eye, with his back to Fern.  He gives Sylvia a gentle tap on the shoulder, pushing her into Megan's arms as the blonde spedster swoops by to pull Sylvia out of the way.

Fern spews a cone of something out of her mouth, like a firehose, that splashes John on the back.

OOC: Sylvia and Megan need to make Reflex Saves, because of Megan's speed and John's blocking the DC is only 10.

Go ahead and roll initiative.

For sake of arguement if Thevshi isn't back before the rest of you are posting then we'll have Sammy tell her about the soap and water she brought and have her be busy dousing John with them until she gets back, cool?

For purposes of movement, Kel is 80 feet from Fern, Donnie is 100 and Sammy is 100.

Upon hearing the gurgling, Kel's mask is to his face, and then on the spewing of acid he mumbles, "Oh this will be fun."  He then leaps off of the tree and aims with a straight kick to Fern's face.

Sammy hears a peculiar sound, then looks down to see that John has blocked Sylvia from being hit by a stream of acid, and has caught it himself.  Kel has leaped into action, and it looks like he has Fern well in hand.  But John... John could be in a lot of trouble, especially if Fern isn't really under control.  With falcon-like precision,  she swiftly descends to John's aid, not sure if she'll be tossing up an air wall between him and Fern or scooping him up and taking him to someplace where the acid can be flushed away.  She hopes two gallons of water will be enough... she'll decide what to do when she reaches his side and can better see if Kel has subdued Fern.

ETA:  OOC: Essentially I'm holding until I see the ruling on the outcome of the multiple 20's

Donnie will cast his Ray Charles spell (Dazzle 6: Sight) and Pip will harrass Fern and distract her so Kel can kick her head in or something. (Aid Other)  ;)

Quiet as ever in the back...Tagging along, for reasons he didn't quite completely understand...Mostly because he hadn't asked the questions, Seth was fairly suprised to see acid erupt out of the girls mouth.

Pushing his hands into his hoodie pocket, Seth knew that the whole acid thing was a bit dangerous...So he did what he could to help.

Gripping Fern's head in a telekinetic hold...Seth wanted to make sure that mouth stayed closed.

(OOC- i don't know exactly what this is? I guess I'm trying to grapple and pin her mouth?...

Do you want an opposed power check or...a grapple check? I don't really know...Even how i would do that in my game.)

John moves in a blur and grabs Sylvia, racing over to where Samantha had stashed her acid remedy materials and begins to treat Sylvia, even as the scream from teh pain is just emerging from her throat.

Since we were gonna say that Sammy had made people aware of her acid antidote, shall we continue with that logic?  If not I'll make changes to John's action later.

I know what Seth wants to do, but need to know his initiative so I know when it happens.

Megan had arrived just a split second after John and tried to pull Sylvia out of the path of the cone of acid that Fern spit out.  Eww gross.  For Megan, the acid seemed to move in slow motion, and she was able to completely avoid any of the droplets, a blur of uncannilly agile motion.  But despite John taking most of the attack and her trying to pull Sylvia away, Sylvia was still not able to completely avoid the acid droplets. 

John did not seem hurt and was moving to help Sylvia, so Megan focused on Fern, who Kel had just slammed back against the door jam.  While she probably should have felt somewhat bad about this, the fact Fern had hurt Diane, tried to hurt all the cheerleaders and had just tried to douse Sylvia with acid all helped push aside any doubt of ganging up on Fern.

Speeding over, Megan aims a superspeed punch towards her former friend.

Sammy swoops in and lands next to John and Sylvia and talks to the non-screaming one.  "If there isn't going to be enough water to rinse both of you down, there's a covered pool a couple houses down; it'll have water in it.  Should I call an ambulance?"

Megan swoops past John, who is heading in the opposite direction and hits Fern.  The blow sends the acid spewing teenager backwards into her house and lays her out cold in the foyer.


"This should be enough for her."  John says, effortlessly removing Sylvia's sleeve and dousing her to neutralize the acid's effects.  "Can you look at my back and tell me if the skin is damaged?"  He seems preternaturally calm, almost at peace as he works to wash Sylvia's arm down.  The burns look bad, but the pain has subsided some.  "Sylvia."  John's voice has a focusing effect, "Take out your phone and dial 911, tell them you need an ambulance and give them the street address, tell them to send the police, okay?"

Sylvia and Sammy's turn

"I can make that call," Sammy says.  "There are two people who can guess I might have been here or had something to do with this anyhow.  I think its better for me if I don't try to pretend any different.  Hold still so I can see if we're going to need two ambulances or three."

She rips off John's shirt and looks at his burns.

"Make the call," Sylvia says through gritted teeth.  "God, am I maimed?  Will I ever play the piano again?"

"Did you ever play the piano before?  Shut up, Sylvia, and let the quarterback strip you naked and soap you up."

Sammy makes the call, giving the emergency operator the address, asking for police and ambulances and a HAZMAT team that can clean up acid.  She warns them that there is a paranormal who can spit acid; she believes that paranormal to be unconscious, but is not 100% certain of that as she is across the street trying to help some of the injured.  There are acid burn injuries; she's still working on figuring out how many people might be hurt.

Although his shirt and the top part of his pants at the back is chewed up from the acid, John looks only slightly red, like a mild sunburn.

"Burn doesn't look serious, but it'll need a few days to heal.  Sammy should get a medal for being prepared for this one though, you'd be in worse shape if she hadn't thought ahead."

Fern is unconscious and the police and ambulances are soon to arrive.  Who plans to leave the scene and who plans to stay and give statements.  John says flatly that he'd rather not be here to give a statement to the police or have to explain himself to the paramedics.

After seeing Fern go down, Megan looked over at Kel as she said, in her Velocity voice, “Keep an eye on her with Pip.”  She then sped across the street, swinging by where Seth was as she said, “try to pull her back out where Kel can better keep an eye on her.”  She then moved on over to where Sylvia, John and Sammy were gathered.

“Sylvia, John, are you both alright?”  She asked, very worried about both of them.  She sees that Sylvia is hurt, but seems to be doing okay thanks to Sammy being prepared and John quickly getting her to the water to wash the acid off.  “Good work Sammy.”  She agreed to John’s statement about Sammy being prepared.

As Sammy calls the police and ambulance.  Megan takes a look at John’s back to see the red irritation he had recieved, far less than any of them would have received.  “We can head either to my house or yours and I can help put some ointment on that to help it heal a bit quicker.”  She said with a slight grin.  When John states he wants to leave, she will go with him.

Kel shakes his head at Megan's command.  While he respected her and knew it was a good idea, he didn't want to stick around. Least not obviously.  Soon enough Kel had hopped up over Fern's fence, and then into a neighbor's tree making his way onto the neighbors roof tucking himself into an observation spot the cops won't see.  Mask still on for precautionary sense.

"You might want to stick around.  The police know you, even though it'll be the Oak Park PD and not the Chicago cops they'll take this better if you're here to give a statement."  He looks over his shoulder, "And don't worry about this, it'll be all better before dinner time most likely."

Sammy says resignedly, "I made the call for help.  I'm stuck here.  I'll sit with Sylvia.  Anybody else who wants to leave should go now."

Megan gave John a wide smile.  “And you heal fast too?  Yeah, I can stick around.  In fact, I might just call Kevin, the head of the Chicago PCD.  With a paranormal here, he or someone in his group, will likely be called in soon enough, I might as well make it sooner.”  She takes out the cellphone she had been using as Velocity since she got it from Greg the night second time she had helped Katie and called Kevin. 

Before John leaves, she gives him a quick kiss goodbye and says she'll call him later that night.

Endorphins are kicking in, dulling the raw burn of the acid to a throbbing ache.  Sylvia, maybe a little woozy but conscious, feels well enough to say, "You don't have to stay.  I'll be okay, I think."  She's a little pale but shows no sign of going into shock.  "I should call Mitzi and Carolyn before the police do."  And that's as close as Sylvia will come to saying she wants her mommy.

"No, I do have to stay."  She pauses for a moment.  "I ought to warn my mom too."

"Okay.  Thanks."  John says, looking between Sylvia nd Megan.  In a blur, he's gone.

The police and ambulances arrive.  Based on the time of day it takes Kevin about twenty minutes to get there, and Mitzi was home, so she's who arrives to worry over Sylvia while the paramedics examine her.

The police take statements, and arrest Fern on assault, with a note to see if she's a match for the attacks at the school.  Kevin chats with the watch commander and the chief of the Oak Park police and they agree to overlook any minor inconsistencies in the statements, since the identities of other paranormals might be at issue.

The paramedics take Sylvia to the hospital so that a doctor can look at her injuries.  The police keep the crowds back, including the press, to give the kids some anomimity.

It's a little over an hour before they clear the scene and let everyone that stayed go home.

At some point when Kiernan isn't being pulled in 10 different directions, Sammy walks up next to him and half mumbles "I think I might need to register myself or something.  Can you help me?"

Kevin  smiles, "We don't use the word register."  he says, reaching in his coat he gives her one of his cards, "If you ever need to ask me anything or need help with something don't hesitate to call me, my cell number is on there too.  We prefer to extend the hand of friendship to supers, in the hopes they'll return the favor.  Know what I mean?"

Sammy takes the card and nods as she puts it in her jeans pocket.  "I think so.  Thanks.  My name's Samantha Jameson.  I don't have another name yet."

"You might want to work on that.  It seems strange, but the super hero name and costume is actually not a bad idea.  Having some privacy is important."

After the police and paramedics arrived, Velocity gave her statement and then went over to where the paramedics were looking over Sylvia with Mitzi there worrying about the teen.  â€œSyl,” Megan began, as the paramedics had moved away for a bit.  “I’m sorry I wasn’t able to get you away from Fern’s acid spray fast enough.”   

"I know.  I'm working on it.  Umm... one more thing?  Fern stole a pink hoodie from someone at school; she wore it the day she knocked down the pole at the football game.  I'm pretty sure the person would like it back.  If you don't need it, would it be okay if I took it and gave it back to the owner?"

"It's okay," Sylvia says, a little spacey from whatever on-the-spot painkiller she's been given.  "Peril is part of the job.  I thought I was standing back far enough that she couldn't get me."

“Well, we didn’t know she could spit her acid.  But I still feel badly, I should have been the one to go talk to her.”  Megan replied. 

Donnie stays for the whole roadshow. Pip is gone as the police pull up, but there is no way he's leaving. He gives Detective Kiernan a wry smile, though his forehead is shiny with nervous persperation. He is the one to call Mitzi and Carolyn, and gets an earful of quite creative cursing as Carolyn lays into him until Mitzi wrestles the phone out of her hand. He explains again that they were following a lead for the school newspaper, and considering Sylvia was on the squad and defacto head investigative reporter, she was the one to talk to Fern.

He wonders if Kiernan has a file on him now. Present at two supernatural events.

At least no one died this time.

He stays until Sylvia is released but declines the ride home, waiting for his father to pick him up. Carolyn still thinks somehow he might be responsible, despite Sylvia;s assurances. Perhaps Carolyn felt that Donnie ought to have done something to protect Sylvia. Donnie didn't know, and hoped that Carolyn will not glower at him any more.

"It's not your fault," says Sammy.  "It's not anybody's fault, except for Fern.  She didn't have to spit.  She chose to spit.  If she'd have kept her mouth shut, we wouldn't have been able to prove anything.  By doing what she did, we didn't have to prove anything.  She did it all by herself.  And if you really need someone to blame for people getting hurt, blame me.  I'm the one who told you guys that Pinky was Fern.  I'm also the one who thought something like this might be possible -- I brought the soap and water didn't I?-- and I didn't mention the possibility to anyone.  Nobody has pointed a finger at me, and nobody's pointing any fingers at any of you.  So just leave it, okay?"

Megan shakes her head slightly at the second half of Sammy’s comments where the brunette tried to say she was the one responsible, the motion causing the brunette ponytail of the wig she wore with her Velocity mask to swish side to side.  “I’ll agree that Fern is really the one responsible, but you are not to blame for anyone being hurt.  You were the one prepared for the possibility, but you didn’t have to mention it as I am sure we all expected it was possible.  In fact, wasn’t the reason we came here to try to get her to come forward and confess and failing that draw her into reveling herself, just like she did?  We would have to be pretty cocky to think it wasn’t possible for one of us to be hurt.”

“But I say I should have been the one to talk with her because of my speed.  In our training sessions its become pretty clear I am the best at avoiding being hit, in some cases by a lot.  And when I ran in to help get Syl away from Fern I was able avoid acid droplets that where heading straight towards me.”

"Well, that's actually evidence, DNA and all that.  Sorry."

"Oh, okay.  The owner's name is Lisa Janush.  I'm a friend of her brother.  She was on his back about helping her find the thing, and I thought if I got it back it would quiet her up for a minute.  No big deal."  Having found out everything she wanted to know about registering her powers and about reclaiming the hoody, she moves away.

A short while after Sammy finished talking with Kevin, Velocity appears near him with a smile.  “Hey Kevin, thanks for showing up to help get things all cleared up.  Sides, this girl is dangerous, given she can spit acid.  So still no activity from Spark?”

When she's done with speaking to Detective Kiernan, Sammy walks for a couple of blocks, then takes off.  From the air,  she calls Elrod.

"Hey, its me, Sammy.  Fern's in jail and the pink hoody is evidence, so Lisa can't have it back.  How's your afternoon going?"

"No problem, always happy to help get dangerous folks off the streets."  When she asks about Spark he shakes his head.  "Not a peep."  Kevin says.  "He may be laying low, since his plan to discredit you didn't work out.  Maybe he's too busy, or looking for a better way to commit crimes."

"Just got better." he says, "I'll let her know that it's sort of found.  Probably be easier for me to replace it, since I know she wont want it back now."

“Hmm, let’s hope it’s the first.”  Megan replies.  â€œWould hate to have to start playing catch up if he comes back with a new way for committing crimes.  Well, looks like its about time for me to run, I’ll be in touch.”  She says with a smile before she zips away.

"Probably.  I wanted to try though."   Conversation continues for a few minutes longer, then is ended when Sammy gets home.  She wants to tell her mom about the police incident before she hears about it on the evening news.
