Donnie went to the library to work on the dispell.  It was a quiet place where he often went to get work done.

Donnie enters the Library, waving to the old Libriarian who seemed to consider him her own ward sometimes. He peered around the library, but his mind was on the problem of the Dispell. He made his way back to his usual cubby, mind wandering down the paths of magic.

Donnie begins to pour over his assorted notes and the various internet texts where he's gotten some useful information in the past.  It's a complicated matter, and one that's not likely to be easy to fix.  He quickly learns that there are ways to completely bind someone from using magic, but they're dangerous because they're all inherently tainted with malevolence.

"What are you boys doing in here with those?"  the librarian says, more loudly then she normally speaks.  Then Donnie hears the unmistakable sound of a fist hitting flesh, and a thud near the librarian's desk.

"Do it."  Another voice says, and the power in the lilbrary goes out.  The emergency lights come on a moment later, but they make the library a warren of shadows and unfamiliar shapes.

Donnie 's eyes shimmer for a moment as his Darkvision activates, and he slowly backs away from his usual cubby, casting invisibility on himself.

Donnie starts to weave the spell when he notices a slight shimmer in the air, high up on one of the support beams.  Glancing around he sees several more.  They're wards, to keep anyone from using magic in the library.  Based on the power of the protection spell they put on the girls, if Donnie were to cast that Invisibility spell, the backlash would be very painful.

Hmmm. Okay then, lets see how they like dragons..

Walking quietly through the stacks, Donnie summons Pip.

Space ripples and you feel pins and needles shooting down your spine as Pip sticks his head through a tiny hole in space, the struggles to crawl the rest of the way into your space.

After the difficulty of summoning Pip, he wonders if he should try for the sword too. It sounded like there could be more than two opponents, and they sounded armed. Probably baseball bats again.

Donnie elects to be cautious and pulls out his cell phone, holding it close to his chest to hide the light of its face. He scrolls down to Kel's number and starts to punch out a message.

Kel yawned a little as he walked into the school through a side entrance.  Just a little late, he thinks to himself as he checks his watch.  He had overslept and there was nothing important going on so he took his time getting to the school stopped to smell the roses as it was.  Then his phone vibrates in his pants and he plucks out the phone covering up another yawn.  His eyebrow arcs up at the message and he bursts off at a dead run, as he texts back, Be right there

The library doors are locked, and there is a hand written sign taped to one that says 'Closed'.

Pip's turn.

Kel laughs at the sign tears it down and opens the door.

OOC: You've been practicing some of that stuff with Jack, if you'd like to spend a Hero Point now I'll let you have 4 ranks in Disable Device for the duration of this encounter and you can keep 1 rank of it permanately.

Kel takes a deep breath and begins to brace himself for shoving in the doors but then noticing the darkness sighs and thinks W.W.B.D.? What Would Batman Do? He then sighs and settles in to pick a lock for the first time it really mattered.

You unlock the door.  Now we're in the initiative flow, so it's Pip's turn.  Kel can act normally on his initiative.

Pip flies around, looking for the bad guys. If he sees them, he reports to Donnie where they are at, how many there are, etc..

OOC: Have him make a Notice check for me.  Regardless he reports there are four boys and the librarian in unconscious behind her desk.

Donnie's turn.

Donnie attempts to flank the boys, using his darkvision to move quickly and hoping they were having a hard time finding him in the dark.

Donnie can easily move into a positon to flank one of them (they're spread out) and attack if you wish.

Donnie springs into action charging the nearest thug and bringing a knee up as he leaps into him.

Donnie hits the kid squarely, but he seems to recover quickly.

Kel's turn.

Kel sneaks in lining himself neatly behind one of the other boys and brings his hand down in a swift karate chop to their neck.

Kel's attack stuns the boy, sending him to his knees and causing him to drop the baseball bat that he was holding.

Thug # 1 takes a swing at Donnie connecting with the bat.

Thug # 2 recovers from being stunned but can take no action on this initiative.

Thug #3 continues to do what he's supposed to do.

Thug #4 hears the fighting and moves towards the closest conflict.

Space warps, and the sword materializes in Donnie's hand.  A dropplet of blood falls from his nose to the carpet.  The boy with the bat gives Donnie a quizzicle look.

Kel sighs as he watches Donnie go down and then bother summoning the sword.  He then bring his leg to connect with the other boy to hopefully take him from the fight.

Thug # 1 Looks at Donnie for a second, then at the sword, and says "Fuck this."  dropping his bat and bolting fro the door.

Thug # 2 is resting.  He looks like he might be getting up, but not right away.

Thug #3 continues to do what he's supposed to do.

Thug #4 appears from between some book shelves near Kel and moves to attack him.  Missing

[Initiative 1]

Colin is at the open door to the library and Kel looks to have one down and one in melee.  He sees another boy coming from over by the study cubicles, running with a look of fear on his face.

OOC: Will Colin act now, or roll an initiative with +10 bonus to act in Round 3?

OOC: I act now.

Colin shouts in the darkened library.

"OK, you bastards, I'm sorry to tell you that your friends outside have been dealt with and the police is already here. If you listen you can hear the sirens. If I were you I'd drop whatever weapon you've got and I'd get lost before they arrive. It's your choice, but I've got to warn you, I'm really angry today."

He lets the one who's running away go, and stares at the one facing Kel. As he lets his emotion go, any special effects are welcome.

The thug moving up towards Kel looks over at Colin, and the color drains from his face.  His bat falls to the floor and he turns and bolts towards the rear fire exit.  the one that was running towards the doors stops also, his eyes wide with a fear of something, then he turns and heads towards the fire exit as well.

OOC: Technically they can't act until theit initiative (3).  So.

She does indeed notice the librarian.

Pip attacks the thug, who tries in vain to keep the little dragon off him.  A few bites later the boy falls down vomitting.

Sylvia's Turn.

Only one opponent remains (Thug #3) and Sylvia, acting on the training scenarios she's run with Jack, reaches into her pocket and pulls out a mysterious taser-like device.  She fires the gadget, and brilliant, vicious sparks of blue lightning spit out of the device, arcing across empty space to strike the boy in the chest.  The effect is like a crash cart.  "Clear," Sylvia growls.

[Naturally this is an illusion.]

OOC: He rolled a 1 for his Save.

The boy drops like a tone fell on his head.  He jitters on the floor for a moment, then passes out.

"Donnie!" Colin calls out, before answering Sarah's call.

"Donnie, please, tell me that you're fine."


He turns to Sarah, blinks a few times and forcibly brings his hand to cover his eyes.

"Hey, wondergirl, if you want me to help her, you have to step away, or I won't be able to do anything."


After she moves out of his sight, he kneels beside the librarian and takes gently her head in his hand. He has to let her go, though and take a few deep breaths, until he's able to put his anger back in its cage. He thinks channeling his rage through her wouldn't do her a lot of good. When he manages to calm down, he takes her head again and sighs slowly, blowing on her face, making himself transparent and letting the spirits do the work. He fills his heart with sympathy for her. She didn't deserve this either.

"Mrs. Haversley, wake up, please. Wake up." he says softly.

Sylvia is on Donnie like white on rice.  Wait.  Poor turn of phrase.  She's there, checking him over with all the intense concern of a . . . very good friend.

Donnie wipes the blood from his nose, leaving a smear of red across his face. He smiles and nods to Sylvia, resisting the urge to draw her into his arms. "Nice one with the taser, Syl. Colin! Is Mrs Haversly okay?"  

With a quick mental command, Pip leaves off of the thug vomiting and shivering on the floor and flaps quickly to the wall where he flips back on the lights with his toothy maw while clinging to the wall. When Colin acknowledges him, Donnie walks over to where Kel stands relaxed over the unconscious thug. Donnie claps the incredible tightly muscled upper arm. "Thanks, man." He looks over to the thug that cracked him with the bat, and lets his rage rise. Sylvia takes a step back as she sees the green shiver over his baby blues, but Donnie looks to her and smiles. It's not a nice smile.

"Don't worry Sylvia. I'm not flipping out."

He walks over to the thug and kicks him over onto his back. Donnie looks down, and rests the tip of the sword over the boy's groin, pressing down slightly until the guy realizes what's going on. Donnie lets the bubbling rage inside his chest color his words. "Hey. Fuckhead. I hope the blowjob that bitch gave you was worth it. It might be the last one you ever get." Pip lands on his shoulder and hisses at the recumbant thug.

If any step forward to stop Donnie, he looks at them with his lizard-eyes and winks.

He smiles awfully with his ghastly blood-smeared face and eerie almost-glowing green eyes and says"Now, if you want to be able to piss without a catheter, I suggest you start fuckin' talking, asshole."  

"Colin's got her," she says.  She fishes in the pocket of her cardigan for a packet of Kleenex, but Donnie's already on his way toward the other boy by the time she retrieves it.

With a few blinks the librarian comes back to consciousness.  She sees Colin and smiles, "Mr. Crow, where did those boys with the bats go?"  she says weakly.



The thug explains how they were paid by some girls to come here and work you over.  His explanation is interrupted by the fire alarm going off.

The sound of the fire alarm jars the librarian some, "Come on, we need to get outside."  She tries to get up.

With a WHOOSH of air, Megan comes speeding into the library, papers flying about from the speed at which she entered.  Seeing the librarian with Colin and Sarah, she continues moving so the librarian might not catch sight of her and stops near Sylvia.  “Glade to see you are all okay.  Sammy’s awake.”  She says to the other girl.  “Lets met up on the roof and get rid of this stupid spell.”  Then, in an instant, she’s gone, heading back to the roof.

Unfortunately for Megan's plans to get rid of the damned spell as soon as possible, Sammy isn't on the roof anymore.  When the fire alarm went off, John asked Megan to open as many outside doors as possible, and told Sammy to work through the building, making sure everybody was evacuated.  As soon as she could, Sammy stopped in a girl's bathroom and soaked her hoodie, thinking she might encounter some smoke if this was a real alarm and there was a real fire.  She had enough breathing problems as things already were, and could use the water soaked hoodie to help cover her face if it came to that.

She sticks her head into classroom after classroom, looking for anyone who may have been left behind, marking the places she has inspected with a large chalk 'X' on the door.

Sarah talks louder over the obnoxious fire alarm.  "Ah!  What next?  Are they trying to get everyone outside for an attack or do something inside when no one is in the school?"  She throws her hands up in the air.  "Kel?  Donnie?  Can you guys throw these bozos onto a library cart and push them out to the cops?  Maybe you can finish your conversation along the way."

She pulls out her cellphone and calls Dave, "Hey!  You outside? Keep us in the loop on whats going on!"

OOC:  Is there a library cart handy?  :)
