Title: Chapter 32-12, War Council
Post by: secretoracle on April 02, 2007, 11:33:35 AM
Dave and Greg had left campus as soon as they were able and made their way to Greg's house.  The bomb shelter had been the groups clubhouse since they were little, and recently it had served as a secret hideout for the Usual Suspects when they needed to pow-wow.  Greg made sure that snacks, soda, water, and juice were available.  He had been pouring over all the news footage from his DVR trying to piece together the events and figure out what happened at the school.

"Hi Greg. Hi Dave."

Colin doesn't look very good. He's a bit sluggish, and looks like one who could enjoy some hours of sleep. He lets himself drop on the couch.

"Do you already know everything, or you need a recap?"

Kel arrives with less huffing and puffing than when he had appeared at the hospital, "Hey."  He says as he walks in and settles into a chair.

"Hi Kel. You talked with John and then ran away before. Is there more trouble?"

"Just had to go meet up with someone.  It's nothing you need to worry about at the moment."  Kel wonders if perhaps it is if it was the witches then discards it, it was for the moment his.

Seth shows up, the door opening before him.

He takes a nice big piece of wall to lean up on.

The masquerade mask from long ago is back. Sticking out of his back pocket.  Seth having returned home to grab it before he game here, and after his ice cream cone.

The black duster is back too. Major coolness points. And a little melodramatic. But secretly, he feels more secure in for some reason.

And with all that's going on...a little security never hurt any body.

"Sup boys?"

"No."  Dave says, looking over Greg's shoulder as the other boy runs through video footage.  "We kind of have a picture of what happened."

The bunker shakes a little, followed by a thump from above. A bass rumble of a deep voice can be heard. Donnie opens the door and descends, peeling off the aviation helmet and shoving it in his bookbag which is slung over one shoulder. "Gentlemen." he says by way of greeting. "I invited someone else here. I hope you don't mind. He's a junior at Fenwick, and I trust him with my life."

He slumps down in a chair and accepts the offer of a coke from Dave.

"Donnie, did you manage to work on the spell to find your notebooks? I talked with Chris, and the law is on our side. The thugs will testify, and it's illegal to cast magic on unwilling subjects.

I also thought of something that should scare them."

Kel rubs his chin when Colin states that about the law and then says, "So does this mean that the PCD will be there to help us bring them in, or do we have to subdue them then call up the cops?"

Colin shrugs.

"If we can prove what they did, then we could call upon them to bring them in. But you'd prefer to 'subdue' them, I guess." he winks at his muscled friend.

I'm all for scaring them... What do you have Col?

"Oh, it's nothing. Like waving a cat in front of some mice. Natural enemies and all that jazz."

"As much as I'd like to just whoop their asses right now.  Today has shown us exactly what they're willing to do, and just how much they can fuck everything up.  Frankly I'm fine with keeping our time around them as limited as possible, the less chance they have to so much as utter a word the happier I am."  Kel explains and then eying Colin he says, "So what exactly do you have planned?"

There is something unusual, and really hard in Colin's eyes.

"They haven't learned. Even binding them wasn't enough. They have to learn this time, we have to teach them a lesson. I don't care if it's beating them to a pulp or turning them in, they have to learn that it's not a game, that they can't play with people's lives. I just know something, or better, someone, that they should really be afraid of. I just want to let them learn what's going to happen if they try something like this again."

After awhile at the park, Megan lead John to Greg’s house and then to the bunker entrance in the backyard.  In a flash she was down the ladder and seemed almost to appear near Colin, Kel, Seth and Donnie as they talked and looked on at Greg as he was reviewing video footage with Dave.  “Hey guys.  Spells off, incase Sarah or Sylvia did not let all know yet.  Sammy is doing a bit better, but they are likely to keep her overnight for observation, she lost her cellphone back at school, so we can't reach her that way right now.”

“So, any solid plans yet?”

"Elrod is there though, and I don't imagine him leaving anytime soon."  John says, finding a place to sit and a bottle of water.  The water is gone in a matter of seconds.  "Are we sure that the witches engineered everything today?  It seems like a lot for them to have arranged."

Title: Re: Chapter 32-12, War Council
Post by: thevshi on April 04, 2007, 02:42:43 PM
Megan nodded at John’s mention of Elrod being there.  “Yeah, he seemed to be pretty much camped out there along with her mom.”

Megan took a bottle of water herself, not really realizing how thirsty she was after all the running she had done so far that day.  She took a couple of drinks and listened as John mentioned if the witches were indeed behind everything today.  Pausing for a moment she, then said.  “I had been thinking about that.”  She said as she moved to sit beside John.  “With Cory showing up like he did, what if he was behind those thugs in the parking lot?”

Sylvia knocks on the door with Dylan in tow.  Maybe their voices make it through the door.  She's chatting with uncharacteristic energy about the articles she's dug up on inter-dimensional theory since hearing about Donnie's mom.  It's a mess of catch phrases like negative energy and Lorentzian traversible wormhole and something about using magic to stabilize the terminal end of something or other.  "Hey," she tells the others, in good spirits.  "Guys, this is Dylan Sterling."  And she hesitates on the rest.  Donnie and Dylan can decide what else they want to share between them.

Title: Re: Chapter 32-12, War Council
Post by: Jongluer on April 04, 2007, 03:03:59 PM
Kel nods over at Dylan when he enters and then says, "Even if we're not sure they organized all of it.  A lot of it is the effects of stuff they did do.  They put those smoke pots in the basement that caused the bees to attack.  They also cast the spell that got a bunch of guys going after you, if Cory was behind guys attacking chances are he was probably doing it because of the spell."  Kel shrugs, "As I see it, they pretty much need to be brought down, and now we know how far they will go.  So question is how are we going to bring them down hard and fast?"

Title: Re: Chapter 32-12, War Council

“I had been thinking about that.”  She said as she moved to sit beside John.  “With Cory showing up like he did, what if he was behind those thugs in the parking lot?”

"I didn't want to say anything ealier, you seemed stressed out enough as it was.  The guys in the parking lot told me why they came to see me, we were gonna fight until only one was left, and that's who got to date you.  so it's possible this Cory guy was behind that.  If he wasn't then the witches had to have gotten some Superman for the guys from somewhere.  and this wasn't the usual stuff either.  These guys were fast, nine of the other reports mentioned people who used Superman getting this kind of speed boost from it."

Title: Re: Chapter 32-12, War Council

Megan looked over to Sylvia and then back at the boy with her.  Clearly there was something more than she knew about going on if Sylvia had brought Dylan along to a meeting where she knew Donnie would be.  But the blonde teen decided it was none of her business as she focused back on Kel.  She was just about to respond when John added a bit more information that stopped her in her tracks.

“They said what?”  Megan could not quite believe what John had said.  No wonder he had said being her boyfriend was going to be tough.  She rubbed her temple as she replied.  “I think Cory must have been on it as well, for he was as fast as you, and clearly pretty strong as well, though not strong enough to take a couple licks from me.  I have seen stuff that gave people speed like this before, its what Spark gave to the Speedfreak girls, I know it made them fast, but not as fast as me.  I don’t recall it making them that strong though.”

"The guys in the parking lot were fast too."  John began. "It's got to be a new version of Superman then.  The question is, was it part of the witches plan, or did the spell just make them do something they might not otherwise have done."  John looks at Donnie, "The guys in the library weren't on Superman were they?"

"Maybe another new kind of drug?  Some kind of cocktail mix of both of them..."  Kel suggests, he tried to remember if he had heard anything, he had been keeping his ear to the ground for Superman news but with everything that had happened he got the feeling he let his duties get forgotten in the past couple of days.

(( http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=956865 yea 7 on Knowledge (streetwise))

Kel shakes his head, "Didn't seem any tougher than normal.  As for the whether or not the other guys were part of the witch's plans or not.  It doesn't matter, it either resulted from the plan or was part of it.  We can let the law sort that stuff out later, chances are good though they took it into consideration at the very least."

Assuming she gets filled in...
"So all the witches had to do was cast that spell at any time... Maybe even as a trap on the main entrance?  Then set off the smokepots.  They could have had any charmed little helper set them off for them right?"

Title: Re: Chapter 32-12, War Council

Megan was thinking some, about this likely new form of Superman, and the fact the guys had told John they were fighting for the chance to date her, not to mention Cory showing up with similar speed and strength.  When Kel dismissed the importance of whether those guys were part of the witches plan or not bothered the blonde teen a bit and she spoke up after a moment.

“Actually Kel, whether those guys were part of the witches plan or not could be very important.  If they were, then the witches likely gave them the drug and told them to just tell John it was about the right to date me.  I don’t see how the witches could have figured out who would be so effected by the spell or not to randomly provided the drug.  So if it was just a ploy by the witches, then that is that, and no big deal.  But if the witches were handing out Superman, why not for all their thugs?”

“But, if the witches did not provide them with the drug, then who did?  I find it rather unlikely that a bunch of guys that might be interested in me enough for this spell to make them act like they normally might not, would all happen to have a new version of Superman handy.  They had to have gotten it somehow, but was it just because of that stupid ‘charm’?  Or did someone else provide them all with it and send them after John?  And if so, did that other person just happen to choose today to do that?  Or could that other person somehow have known about the spell?”

Kel shrugs, "We can't even begin to guess at stuff like that.  I'd hedge a good bet that it's the witches.  But if it's not, well then we need to look at one problem at a time.  Which brings us back to these witches, I'd say to be on the safe side we put thugs hopped up on a new form of superman into the things we might have to deal with.  If we question them or can't find any evidence linking them to these guys afterwards, then we move forward to tackle that problem."

"Hey," she tells the others, in good spirits.  "Guys, this is Dylan Sterling."

"Nice to know you, Dylan. I've heard a lot about you. I'm Colin Crow."

He gives him a curious look with his ghost sight.

Sarah makes her way into the superhideout.  She spots Colin and runs over to hug him.  She kisses his cheek and wraps her arm around him.  "So what's the story?  What did I miss while running away from boys?"

"This." Colin hugs her tightly for a moment, and gives her a quick but passionate kiss.

"I'm so sorry." He whispers in her ear. "Later, we'll have to talk."

"Sorry to bring up the obvious, but can we fight fire with fire?  Can we use magic to find them?"

"They took Donnie's notebooks, probably hoping to find a way there to dispel the binding. Donnie was working on a spell to find them, and through them to find the witches."

Colin's eyes drop on the list Dylan brought.

"Another ceremonial dagger? Then they want to use blood magic again. They really want to break it."

He sighs.

"I'm afraid this is my fault. They used me to look into a possible future. There's a chance that they expected us to do the binding, and planned for today before hand. We have to retrieve the spellbooks. If they manage to break the binding they'll be able to call upon the spirit again, and they'll be much more dangerous. "

"Well then we're going to need to bust a move.  As soon as Donnie can locate his books and the witches we're going to need to figure out where they are and what they're doing.  While I'm sure I could sneak in and scope it out I'd be way too slow, we need this faster than I can get it."  He then eyes John and Megan, "But you guys are pretty hard to spot at high speed, right?"

Title: Re: Chapter 32-12, War Council
Post by: Gaea on April 04, 2007, 07:36:19 PM
...Cough...

Guys..Colin, Donnie. You know the situation better than I do. That is to say magic.

I've been trying to study up on it. Since it's become such a big part of all of our lives recently.

It's imagination fueled by will. But there are some rules.

I don't suffer that limitation. I'll pit my mind against magic any day.

...
...
...
I've been avoiding talking about it. But I can do a lot more things now than i could a few weeks ago. It comes from practice, and knowledge. Knowledge of how things work. That's my only limitation.

I know how the human body works. I can shut them down. But it won't be pretty. I'm talking about Pushing and pulling the contents of their stomachs around to induce mechanical nausea. Exerting pressure on the heart to stun them, lower their blood pressure, perhaps even introduce unconsciousness. Among other things.

I don't want to kill anyone. But at this point, quite frankly my good morals are the only thing stopping me.

When it comes time to fight them. I can take them out. To do it...I have to lower my own defenses quite substantially. I might need backup or a guard or whatever.

If they try to cast spells, and you can recognize the manner in which they cast them, be it verbal or through body language...I can put a stop to that.

I'm a lot stronger than your average human jaw, and I can bind arms just as easily. I need someone who recognizes magic to tell me what to do. To keep the rest of you safe. Most of you can only attack them physically. Their shells etc...I can sense every part of their body, and anything I can sense I can manipulate.

...

And if worse comes to worse, I can trigger a headache in myself that would cause my powers to fluctuate enough to level a building. Call it a last ditch thing. It would probably break every bone in their body...And it really drains me, it put me in the hospital the first time. But it's last ditch, and effective. Call me time bomb boy.

Donnie gets up as Sylvia and Dylan enter and clasps arms with Dylan, murmuring something in an unrecognizable tongue. He smiles at Sylvia and reaches out to run his fingers through the tips of her hair, a mirror image of what Dylan had done less than an hour before. He snags a coke and tosses it to Dylan.

"I can find the notebooks easy. It has my sweat and tears in them, and I can trace them darn near anywhere. Of course, it is likely the witches expect this as well and will be preparing an ambush for us even as they scramble to break the binding. They cannot bring in new blood to the coven without my spell immediately targetting the new person the moment they share the circle of power. If they planned on usiing an athame, then they inted to break the binding. The fact they bought the sh*t already means they planned all this in two effing days. The binding happened on Saturday night, and they realized it likely the next morning. If they pooled their knowledge about the school and worked tirelessly to bring together all these calamitous efforts and diverse opponents (meaning the bee-person, the Superman hyped dudes in the parking lot, the casting of the magical wards in the library, the attractiveness charm, and hiring out the thugs that attacked me) it is highly unlikely they were unaware of what I was going to do at the party. No way they were able to pull this off in such a short amount of time."

He looks over at Colin. "I think they forsaw this unfortunately. Sorry buddy, I thought this would be the end of things with the bitches."

He answers the question about the guys from the library, nodding to Kel's answer. "Yeah, they didn't have the wierd strength or glazed look like the Superman-hopped dudes before."

"I agree. We need to end this. Whether it is through legal means or by our fists, this has to end."

"I think the timing makes this look worse than it is."  Greg says, spinning his chair to face the room.  "I've gone over the news footage and put together a time line based on what Dave was able to find out and what the witnesses said.  I think they've been planning this for a while, and it just so happened that you cast the binding on them first.  They may have had to make some adjustments to their plan after the binding, but I think most of this was in the works from weeks ago when you first had trouble with them.  I think they've been watching your habits and making plans based on that information.  The thing that made the girls extra hot, I think that was something they had to do because of the binding, that they originally planned to do something else.  And, the reason I think this is the timing.  Tomorrow is Halloween."

What is it with the hair?  Sylvia doesn't shy away from the touch, not from Donnie, but this is getting weird.  "Halloween.  That'll make them more powerful than before?  Is it a sacrifice kind of thing?  Are we a means to an end?  Can we--"  She realizes she's asking the wrong person.  Donnie may know dragons and wizardry, but her mom's the one with all the experience.  "I'm going to step outside for a second."  Cell phone in hand, she excuses herself.

Megan listened as Seth spoke up and talked about the things he had been working on an could do to help in the fight against the witches.  “It sounds like you have a lot of tricks you can pull then Seth.”  She said with a smile.  “But technically your attacking them just as physically as any of the rest of us, its just your mind affecting their physical form instead of your body.”  She gave him a bit of a grin.

“But as to ‘setting’ yourself off, that sounds extremely dangerous, and the last thing we want is another of us in the hospital.  I think between all of us, it likely won’t come to that.”

Donnie then spoke up about how he felt this was not all planned in the last two days and how they must have been setting it up for awhile.  Then Greg chimes in, having analyzed things and confirmed this likely was planned out since the last time the group (prior to Megan joining) had tangled with them.

“So that means they had planned for weeks and gave us the best shot they could under the binding?  If it wasn’t for the fact that Sammy was in the hospital I would say we took it pretty well.  But if this took them weeks, with adjustments, then if we can get to them before they break the binding, they will be in trouble.”

But as Greg mentions why he thinks the charm spell was added because of the binding and that they had another plan originally, Megan gives him a curious look.  “What do you think they were originally planning?  And what does it have to do with Halloween?”

Donnie runs his hand across his eyes. "Samhain. Celtic celebration of the beginning of winter. It's a pagan holiday that once again Christians twisted to their own use for All Soul's Day. It's a day dedicated to the dead, and a powerful yearly focal point for all sorts of ancient faiths, but especially celtic, neo-celtic paganism, and witchcraft, whether it be white, red, or black. The barrier between our world and the next is supposedly the thinnest during Samhain, and ghosts, demons, and other creepy things slip through the cracks to 'cavort and caper about for a night' as one dude on the Discover Channel once said.

Witches consider it to be the most important of their annual holiday celebrations, called Sabbats. This one celebrates death and the dead. Nasty sounding, but it's really to honor those that have passed on, not to cavort with demons and such. Likely our bitches see it for that purpose though."

He looks at the stares of his friends. "What? I been doing a lot of reading on this stuff."

Megan gave Donnie a smile.  “Nothing wrong with studying up on things, particularly if it relates to your enemy.  But over all it means they could have easier access to power and possible even allies right?  But only if they remove your binding?”

“Then we should really try to find them before they can do that, which likely means tonight.”  Looking back over at Kel as she adds.  “Well, hard but not impossible.  But what if they have set up some sort of ‘alarm’ spells or something?  We could trigger them without even knowing it.”

"Do I have internet access?"  Greg asks, a tone of total disbelief at what Donnie said.  He vacates his chair, "You have the Con sir."  he says, going for a drink.

Sylvia crams in next to Donnie because, one, she's nosy, and, two, that spot--about two microns from wherever Donnie is?--she likes it there.  "You're trying to find the exact time?  Three a.m. is supposed to be witching hour, right?"  She must have picked that up from some bad horror movie.

Megan sighed slightly at the idea they could be doing this that late, but they did have to stop the witches from breaking the binding.  “We should probably all go home and sleep a bit if its going to be that late, or even just past midnight.  We have time.”  She looked over at Greg and Dave.  “Any word on if the school is going to be open tomorrow?”

Donnie taps away at the keyboard for a few minutes, checking some websites and cross referencing them with various witchcraft calendars and public Magic Tome website, the most popular discussion board for magic in it's infinate flavors and varieties. He realizes that he has reread the same line three times. Sylvia and her perfume. God, will she forever do this to me? Must control desire to kiss her cheek. Must... control..

He finds what he is looking for. "The near exact moment halfway between sundown and sunrise is 11:37 PM tonight. That is when they will be performing the ritual."

"Folks are calling parents tonight, they're closing the school for the rest of the week, classes are back in session next Monday unless something happens in between."

"I've been to their houses, and none of them was home so it's a good bet they've been hiding out somewhere.  Maybe at the cemetery.  Probably takes hours to get ready for something like this I'm guessing."  Dylan says

Megan nodded as Greg indicated that school was closed for the rest of the week.  She also listed as Dylan stated none of the witches were home, and thus likely hiding out somewhere.  “Well, we have about seven hours then.  Do we want to try to see if they are there now?  And if they are not, then what?  Keep it under observation?  Or should we just plan on going home for a bit and meeting up again a couple hours before the time they will be carrying out the ritual and go try to stop it then?”

She glanced over at John as people were thinking about her questions and quietly asked, “have you talked with your folks yet about all this?”  She mainly meant his concern about how what they would likely think about the fight in the parking lot, but also about it all in general.

“Yeah, I need to stop by home and talk to my mom real quick myself, and grab my costume and stuff.  Luckily I have time to spare.”  Megan replied quietly to John with a grin.

She then looked back at the others as both Seth and Sylvia stated the desire to get this done in the day time.  “Well, daytime is fine with me.  We are starting to run out of it though.”  She replied.  “But what if they are not there yet?  We plan to stick around and wait till they do show up?”

What Sylvia lacks in leadership ability she makes up for in the tendency to blurt.  "Maybe we can each get food, water, and flashlights before we go.  We should be able to take them in any head-on fight unless they've conjured up something like that snake demon, so yeah.  I'm thinking we should wait somewhere inconspicuous and have maybe Pip fly surveillance for us, then go in and--"  Her fists hits the palm of her hand several times, quickly.  "--talk some sense into them."  She pauses.  "Seth and Colin can suppress the witches and the nasty magic, respectively.  Maybe Donnie can drop Kel and Sarah into the fray from above--element of surprise and all.  I'll do what I can to keep us hidden till the time is right, and I totally expect that, if we called John and Megan from across town, they'd still make it in time to throw the first punches."  Who's she missing?  "Dylan, if you're in the fight, we could use you.  Sammy's down, and she's our crowd control."

Dylan stands up, "I suppose I could come.  I like to watch these kinds of things, but I guess I could get involved since you asked me so nicely."

Dave stands up and heads for the ladder up out of the bomb shelter, "I need to see a man about a car.  I'll be on my mobile if you need help."  And with that he climbs up and leaves.

She adds, "I'm not sure how I feel about getting dropped in.  Never tried it before.  Maybe it will be fun?  What do you think Kel?"

Megan nodded as Sylvia laid out a plan.  “Okay, a stakeout it is then.  John and I can easily get to them quickly if we are nearby.  I…pulled something off today in the parking lot at school I never have before, it might be able to soften them up some at the start, but am concerned about damaging any of the headstones they might be near, not to mention it almost took me out in addition to the guys that were attacking John.”

She then had another thought and added.  “Another thing, do we want to let anyone, like the PCD, or Jack, or something, know where we are heading and what we suspect?  Just in case?”

"That depends on what we plan to do with them when we've gotten their attention.  Legal?  I vote Colin's da--er, his . . . you know.  Illegal?  Jack.  Someone who can hide bodies."  Sylvia's probably not serious about that bodies part.  And, moreover, she wasn't around to hear Colin's idea for threatening the witches into submission.

Title: Re: Chapter 32-12, War Council

“Yes.”  Megan said in agreement to John.  â€œBut Colin knows someone in the PCD very well, and can pass on the information that way.  I have a contact with them as well.  They have been very willing to not ask too many questions about those of use involved in stopping paranormal problems.  I guess we could wait until we actually confirm that the witches are there.  I just thought it would be good for someone to know where we have gone.”  She then looked over at Greg.  â€œBut I guess we have someone, don’t we?  Shall we set a time that if you don’t hear from one of us by, you contact someone?”  She asked their host.

Megan gave Sylvia a questioning look about the ‘hide the bodies’ part, and said.  “I am hoping your joking.”  She said with a smile.  “I would prefer the legal.”

"Okay, so here's what we have: Dylan and me in the air, maybe Sylvia too, unless you'd prefer to go in with Kel. Ground forces will be Megan and John as our front-runners, and Kel, Colin, and Sarah as the second line in with Colin disrupting any magical Hoodoo they are attempting. Seth will watch for runners or take out any that get the drop on us. We really should have some back-up with you Seth, so I'll introduce you to my friend Uther. He's a battle dragon with excellent manners. Dave & Greg will be just offsight, if you guys are going to stay around or have any better suggestions.

We'll let Jack know our plans so if something happens to all of us. Colin or I will call the PCD in afterwards, since he and I are known to them. That way no one else will have secrets revealed.

Does that sound agreeable to everyone?"

Does that sound agreeable to everyone?"[/color]

Sylvia thinks it through.  "Sure.  I think that'd be okay.  But really before we sweep in for the attack, we should run some reconnaissance with Pip.  The witches will probably have their own defenses, the magical kind if not the physical kind.  And are we settled on what we're trying to accomplish here?  Are we just going to pound them vindictively?  Are we going for an arrest?  Does anyone have any idea what we're going to do apart from smack them silly and send them to the police?"

“That sounds like a pretty good plan.”  Megan said to Donnie’s suggestion, when Sylvia spoke up and mentioned what they intended to do, Megan had to agree she made some very good points.  “Well, the one key thing we need to accomplish I think is keeping them from breaking the binding.  But beyond that…well, I would say turn them over to the police, but what exactly will there be in terms of evidence?  While protecting secrets is good, it might require testimony by some of us.”

"I will be glad to provide testimony, since I was attacked by the hired thugs. Plus, I can testify on the magical things. Not to sound like I'm bragging or anything, but I understand magical theory and spellcraft at a pretty advanced level. It just seems to come naturally to me. I have had a study partner who is in his 4th year at Miskatonic U, and I am able to keep up with most of what he does. I ordered some texts on Magical Law and will be going through it when I have the time. Magical Malfeasance has a pretty hefty penalty from what I understand, and what happened to Colin was pretty much metaphysical rape, which is very serious."

Sylvia cringes at that and throws Colin a sympathetic look.  It must twinge to hear it put that way, over and over again.  "If we've got our plan in order, maybe we should break now and go get what we need for tonight."

Megan gave Colin a look of sympathy as well.  Though whole situation was bad, and though it had several differences to what happened to Darla, it had similarities as well.  But Colin seemed to want to not discuss it that way, so she felt it was better to not talk about how the law would view it.  She instead focused on his comment about scaring the witches.

“You mean just scare them but not hand them over to the police for the things they have done?  What exactly do you have in mind?”  She asked curiously.

"No, no, they're going to go through the law for what they've done. It's just gonna be a little incentive not to try anything like this again."

He squints and clutches his hands.

"I hate to do this. I don't even understand this. I'd much prefer to just forgive, or at least forget, but they're having none of it. I hate to be this angry, but they've tried to kill my friends twice already. They mess with things they don't understand. Now they've got to deal with it. And if I'm not enough, there is someone who is a much better avenger than me. They don't want me to call him."
