Kel wanted to check in on Breanna.  They kept her overnight at the hospital and she wasn't going to get discharged until late in the day.  She's alone in her room, her folks both being at work.

Kel, came to her bedroom and gave a small knock on the door, "Knock knock."  He said casually as he stepped in, he smiled when he saw the girl.  He took a few steps towards her and extended a small bouqet of flowers from his grandfather's garden, they were pretty but more importantly they smelled wonderfully.  He looked over at her and said, "How are you doing?"

"Pretty good."  she said, smelling the air.  "You brought flowers?  Did you get them yourself or take them from another room?"  she said with a laugh, reaching out to take the flowers.

Kel laughed a little handing the flowers to her and taking a seat on her bed, "I got them myself.  My grandfather grows a lot of different flowers and stuff in our backyard so I plucked some.  Figured they'd cheer you up, and they are the last stragglers of the year."

"They smell like outside.  Thanks."  she said, laying the flowers in her lap.  "So, how'd everything turn out at school yesterday?  From what I heard it was pretty crazy.  You guys all okay?"

Kel shrugged, "As ok as things could be I suppose.  Things are all out of whack but I think for the most part, alot of the problems are sorting themselves out."  He then looked over at her and said, "What about you, what happend with you, is everything ok..."  He sighed and said, "I'm still trying to wrap my head around everything that happened."

Breanna touched her scalp, "Docs say that I'll be fine.  No brain damage, and no miraculous cure for blindness.  I'm getting out of here this afternoon so no biggie."

Kel laughed a little at her joke and then said, "Well that's good, I was just worried.  What really happened anyway, I mean, I just want to make sure I got everything right with this whole...situation."

"Well, like I said I was in the bathroom.  I was washing my hands, and the door opened.  Someone came over to the sinks.  I thought she might be going to light a cigarette or something.  Then she said 'He's mine, keep your hands off'  then she whacked me with something hard.  I came to and there were fire alarms going off and no body was around.  I made it to the stairs, then a girl came along and helped me.  We went to the roof, and then."  Breanna pauses.  "I know this is gonna sound weird, but I think we flew down to the parking lot where the ambulances were.  whatever she did, I owe her one."

Kel smirked and said, "Don't worry 'bout the girl who helped, I don't think she feels you owe her one.  But this other girl, any idea who she was, it kind of worries me that someone's out there beating people up near me.  I mean any idea what she sounded like, how she moved, anything interesting...like maybe was the she a he?"

"A he?"  Breanna says.  "I don't think so.  She seemed pretty girl-like, except for the hitting me on the head part."  she moved the flowers to the bedside table.  "I'd recognize her again, but I don't know who she is."

Kel sighs, "Thanks.  I really want to figure this out 'cause I don't want you in danger, hell I don't want anyone in danger because of me.  But definitely not you.  I'm going to figure out what happened alright, I'll see you soon."  He gets up and gives her a kiss on the forehead, "Alright?"

"Ah.  Okay.  You be careful trying to be a hero.  You don't want to end up in here, the food is horrible."

Kel laughs and says, "I promise I won't."  He gives her one last kiss, and then about to head out stops and says his voice dropping to a whisper, "Uh, I know this might seem weird but which bathroom were you in?"

"Fourth floor girls, down by the history class rooms."

Kel smiles and gives her a long hug and then says, "I'll see you later Breanna, hopefully with some good news."  He is then on the move, out the door towards the first floor.  Once outside, he steps into an alley and climbs up to the roof in the area and is soon leaping across them heading for the school.  He needs to check out the school first, then some social hotspots to try and figure out what he can.

There are crews from the janitorial staff, and some outside contractors at the school.  They're on the lower floors and in the basement trying to air out the effected spaces.  Kel can easily make his way from the roof to the restroom in question without difficulty.

Kel sweeps into the bathroom on the upper floor, and begins to prowl about, the first thing he is looking for is any signs of the attack and more importantly any blunt object that could've been used to hit someone on the head with.

Kel finds ample sign of the attack, including blood on the sink and floor.

Kel spends a good deal of time going over the scene, looking for anything that might provide him  with a clue as to who attacked Breanna.  He finds what looks like a flakes of chrome plating with some hair and dried blood stuck to them on the floor near where Breanna was attacked.

Kel sighs, he hadn't thought of what to do with the clues after he found them.  He looked them over trying to see if they were chrome flakes from something like a baseball bat or a fixture of some sort.  Either way, he still had to wonder why.  Kel leaned in to inspect the hair and ensure himself that it was Breanna's.

The hair certainly matches her color and the length seems right.

Damn, Kel thought as he checked the hairs.  He then looked at the chrome flakes again, and got up from the ground heading back outside, he begins looking in the nearby areas for any baseball bats or pipes that have been discarded since, plus keeping an eye out for anywhere nearby where they might be easily obtained.

He doesn't spot anything that fits the bill.

Kel lets out a small grunt of frustration, on to plan b.  He thinks as he heads out of the school roof, and begins trying to figure out just who pays attention to the gossip enough to be aware of anyone who might like him that much.

Diane Weston (the cheer leader with the broken leg) is pretty up on the local gossip.  There are also a few members of the "upper crust" but it's not likely they'd chat with Kel.

Armed with this thought, Kel immediately searches out Diane's house, hopefully she still wouldn't be angy about his groping of her in practice.

Diane lives in one of the nicer homes in Oak Park.  A maid answers the door, and after letting Diane know that it's Kel who is here, she escorts Kel to the den.  Diane, her leg still in a cast after the bleacher collapse, sits watching TV.  "Hey Kel."  she says brightly, "You're almost the last person I expected to see here."

Kel walks through the ostentatious home thinking to himself, why are all the cheerleaders ridiculously rich?  He feels a little out of place as he walks into the den and says, "Well to be honest, it's not much of a social call..."  Kel says trailing off as he observes the rest of the room.  He then says in a serious tone,"One of my friends, a close friend, was whacked over the head during that whole fire thing and well yea.  It seems like whoever did it is infatuated with me or something, and I think it'd be best if I found out who it was so I could set them straight on the whole thing...So yea, in a really roundabout way, I was wondering if you knew if there was anyone out there who likes me?  Or is practically stalking me..."  He says the last sentence in a half-jesting manner.

"Ah, well I heard that there was some girl in the marching band that liked you.  Or maybe a baton twirler witht eh band, I didn't get a name though.  Other then that just some talk in the shower about how hot you look in your  'I'm such an outsider' way."

Kel sighed, thinking jeez, just what I need, and he then said sarcastically "How wonderful.  Well, thanks Diane, that's an important bit of info, if a tad disturbing.  Any idea who might know her?"  Kel asked, hoping that the gossip queen had a little bit more than just that.

"Band geeks?"  Diane said with a look that indicated slight disgust.  "Maybe your friend Samantha knows, you know, the one that Elrod seems to have taken a liking to _{for some unknown reason}."

Kel nods and doesn't comment on the Sammy&Elrod part, he says, "Thanks Diane you've been a huge help.  Now rest up so you can get back to the squad, 'cause really all that's left is like three girls and it gets boring to toss up the same three girls over and over again."  He then walks out of the home and pulls out his cellphone, calling up Sammy.

Kel dials Sammy's number and says, "Sammy, Kel.  I need your help with something, the girl who attacked Breanna was probably part of the marching band.  Since supposedly there is some baton twirler or band member that has mentioned liking me or at least guys who are "outsiders".  Know anyone like that, or anyone who can point me on to someone like that?"

Sammy asks him to hold on for a minute.  She quickly confers with her sister, then gets back on the line.  "There is a girl named Sherri McNamara who thinks you are totally hot.   She's taller than average, blond hair, pretty, and thinks the world should revolve around her.  She's a sophomore baton twirler with my sister, so Steph hears her talking about you 'all the time'.  "Kel blah blah so hot blah blah I know exactly what I'd do with him if I got him alone blah blah Kel Kel Kel!"  Those are Steph's words, not mine.  Do you really think she did it?  I didn't want to ask Steph if she thought Sherri would ever hit somebody over the head and leave them for dead."

Kel shrugs and then says into the phone, "I have no idea, but there's only one way to be sure.  I think it's disturbing if she did, I'll tell you how it goes."  Kel then breaks the connection and heads for the nearest phone booth or place where he can access a computer to get her address, things were about to get weird.

It doesn't take too much effort to find the right address.  The house is a basic two story colonial.  Kel can tel it has a nice sized backyard from how it sits on the lot.  There is a two car garage, but the doors are closed and he's not sure if there is anyone home at all.

Kel sighs and then walks up to the door anyway.  He knew breaking in and searching the house might sound like a good idea, but he was here as Kel not Nightwing, this was a personal matter of his regular life just taken to an extreme level.  He rang the doorbell and waited with baited breath.

Kel didn't have to wait long before the door opened.  An attractive blond stood in the doorway, one hand on her hip and the other on the side of the door.  She was wearing a pair of jeans that might have been shrink wrapped to her and a shirt that seemed to have been engineered to display her chest.  "Well, this is certainly a surprise.  My favorite cheerleader here.  What brings you to my door?"

Kel sighs, this was going to be tough, "Just passing through, and I realized I needed to ask you some things..."  Kel tries to be as vague as possible.

"Ok.   Ask away."

He walks into her house and says, "I hear things ya know, I hear things about what you say about me, and well I was just wondering if they were true..."  While Kel really did want to be forward, he realized that maybe he'd have to lie a little to get the girl to confess.

Sherri looked at Kel and cocked an eyebrow.  "What have you heard?"

Kel smiles, "Little things here and there.  Don't get me wrong, they're very flattering."  Thinking in his head if a little disturbing, "And they all pretty much revolve around what you would do if you had me alone."  He then looks around, knowing full well the idiocy he was about to commit, "Well, here I am..."

"Really?"  She says,  coming a little closer.  "How much time do you have to spare?"  she says, running the tips of her fingers down his left arm, then along the underside of his hand.  "This could take a while."

He smiled and said, "As much as you need..."  He lead her over to a couch and as he settled her onto it, he gently pinned her down murmuring that he liked it rough, and then once satisfied that she was pinned he said, "Now let me cut to the chase here.  I know what you did to Breanna."

((I'm assuming since she's fairly willing there's no need for a grapple check?))

OOC:  Makes sense.

"What the hell are you talking about.  Get off me."  She begins to struggle.  "Let me go."

He sighs loosening his grip though still keeping her pinned, "I know she was struck over the head with something chrome, like your baton perhaps and the person obviously has some kind of vested interest in me since they told her to stay away from me."  He sighs deciding that she probably won't do anything to drastic and gets off of her.

She's obviously shaken up and her breathing has become ragged.  She screams  "You get the hell out of here and don't ever come to my house again you psycho."

Kel stands his ground and says, "Calm down and answer my question."  He does back away though towards the exit, he doesn't want to cause a problem just figure out his own.

"I SAID GET OUT!"

About that time the front door opens and another girl walks in, "Sherri, what's.."  The other girl stops when she sees Kel.

Kel rounds on the other girl and says, "Do you know Breanna?"

The starteled girl looks around, "Who.  Sherri, who is this guy?"

Sherri moves to the kithcen counter and grabs the phone, "He's the asshole that's going to get arrested if he doesn't leave NOW!"

Kel sighs and tosses his hands in the air walking out the door, "I'm just trying to find out who bashed my girlfriend over the head and told her to stay away from me, then left her for dead.  Not my fault you're the only one in the whole school that openly talks about jumping my bones..."  He's already out the door by that point, and on his way down the street when he realizes he just called Breanna his girlfriend, he strokes his chin and thinks about that idea as he thinks of where else to dig up information.

OOC: Where does Kel go from here?

OOC: Eh, not likely.  You have the hair, blood, and chrome (I'm gonna assume you took it) you might be able to find someone that could tell you more about that.

Kel finds his way to the Wayne Foundation House and Jack is there, working out.

"Hey guy, what's up?"

Kel shrugs and sits down on a bench near Jack, "Got a problem, someone attacked a girl I'm friends with.  And told her to pretty much stay away from me.  Hit her over the head with something, and nearly left her for dead in that fire at my school.  My first lead ran dry pretty fast and I was wondering if you've been hiding a crime lab around here because I have some hair I figure is my friends, and some blood but more importantly some chrome flakes from whatever the hell probably hit her."

Jack grabs a towel and wipes the sweat from his face.  "I'm not hiding it, it's under the house.  I wouldn't really be able to use any of it though.  You'll need a techie type for that."

Kel sighed, "Well that's good at least.  Mind if I poke around down there anyway?  And if not, know any techie types, 'cause I don't..."

"Ah, Let me make a call."  Jack goes over to where his phone is setting and makes a call.

OOC: Need to check on something before I continue.

A few minutes later he comes back.  "No luck.  We can try to run it by the police, unless one of the other Justice Juveniles knows someone."

Kel sets his face into a smirk at the name and says, "I'll give them a call see what I can do.  But do you mind if I poke around while I do, I've just ya know, always wanted to see a hidden crime lab beneath a mansion..."

"Sure."  Jack leads Kel into the library, and then shifts  one of the book cases aside to reveal a stairway that leads down.  As they reach the bottom of the stairs the room lights up.  In the center of the space is a raised platform with a chair and about twenty computer monitors and several keyboards.  There are various lab tables and equipment, and Kel can hear the lapping of water and near the back of the space is a canal that leads off into darkness.

"Whoa..." Kel says as he steps into the lab.  He smiles as he walks through the lab, he walks to the gigantic computer and stands at it, checking to see if it's on.  As he looks at his phone to look for service he says, "So wait...this is owned by the Wayne Foundation, which by now I mean come on it has to do with superheroes and stuff right?  I mean, who the hell had all this stuff and just well let's any body wanting to do some good use it?  This place is amazing..."

"Well, the house sort of went to pot for a while, and the guy that runs the foundation had some people restore it a few years ago.  But this place has always been kept up to date.  With high speed air craft and advance computing he doesn't have to use it, since he has almost everything he needs with him nowadays. "

Kel nods dumbly, "+Wow, that's impressive."  He then checks his phone again for service.

OOC:Kel has no service, but there is a phone there.

Kel walks over to the phone, looking at the number he flipped to in his cell phone's phonebook and dialed if there was a signal, "Hey Megan, it's Kel, I'm not interrupting anything am I?"

“Hey Kel.”  Megan replied.  “Not too much, just out shopping with John.  What’s up?”

"Well, I'm in a little bind here.  Remember how Breanna was hit over the head during the fire, well I checked out the scene and there was some blood and hair, as well as some chrome flakes.  Anyway, the point is my potential lead went dead and now I need to find a way to analyze this stuff.  So, Jack has this crime lab apparently, and I was wondering if either you or someone you or John knows might be able to operate all this crap...'cause well I don't."

“Well, I don’t know the first thing about analyzing stuff like that.”  The blonde teen replied as she was looking through the sweaters for John.  “I would say have Colin see if he could do something, but, sounds like what you have might be too small for him to pick up anything from.  Maybe he could at the scene of the attack though.” 

“I can ask John if he knows how to run tests on stuff.  And I might know someone else that could.”

"Thanks that'd be a great help.  And thanks for reminding me about Colin's abilities, I often forget about that.  Enjoy the rest of your day."  He then clicks the phone off and slaps himself in the head muttering to himself, "Of course, the one time it'd be really helpful I completely forget that I have a friend who can see the past."  He then dials Colin's number, if and when it picks up he says, "Colin, it's Kel, I need your help."

Colin's voice sounds almost drowned in the wind.

"Hey Kel, what's up and where are you?"

"Right now I'm at Jack's.  But I realized that you might be able to help me look into what happened with Breanna.  I already swung by the crime scene and picked up some stuff, don't know if you can do your mojo with it or not.  But maybe you might be able to get something at the bathroom where it happened?  Want to meet up at the school and we can check into this?"

"Well, I could be at the school in the afternoon, but I'm not too far from Jack right now. You think you could wait for... about half an hour?" Colin says as he keeps cycling real fast.

"Sure, it'll give me some time to putter around in this place."  He clicks off the phone, and then proceeds to begin investigating the lab.

35 five minutes later Colin parks his bike in front of the Wayne mansion and rings the bell.


"Ok, Kel tell me everything and I'll see what I can do. How is she, by the way? Still at the hospital?"

Kel leads him down to the lab where he has everything seperated and by themselves, "Pretty simple really, I checked out the crime scene, found some hair and blood that's probably Breanna's, then some chrome flakes which probably come from whatever hit her.  I checked out a lead on some baton twirler in marching band who has the hots for me, that went dead pretty quick so now here I am." He then takes a breath and says, "They're letting her out sometime today, but she's doing better."

Colin looks at what little Kel found, and looks unsure.

"It's not much to work on, but I'll try anyway. If it doesn't work, I'll try to check the school later. I don't know what I'm going to see though. It can range from the whole scene, to a subtle hint, to nothing at all."

He closes his eyes and concentrate, letting out his breath very slowly. To Kel's heightened senses, Colin's breath for a moment seems thick, and it warps what's behind it a little, just like smoke or hot air.

He runs his hand on Breanna's hair, then the chrome flakes, and finally the slide with her blood on.

Nothing comes to Colin.

"I'm sorry, Kel, I don't get anything. I'll drop by the school this afternoon and check there. I'll let you know if I find out anything. Now excuse me, but I'm kind of busy. I've got lots of places to check. I'm looking for the third girl that was attacked. Any chance you could find out anything about her like you did with Samantha?"

OOC: Colin goes to the school before getting home to prepare the dinner. Maybe Kel will find something sooner. Anyway, I'll drop by this thread again if Colin finds anything.

Colin gets a solid impression from the bathroom.  He sees the reflection in the mirror os Breanna and the girl that hit her.

Kel puts his best effort while Colin is gone as opposed to looking up after the third girl into trying to find out anything using the lab equipment.  He'll look for guidance anywhere he can find it, books from the library upstairs, the internet, anything.  He is not going to give up.

Colin does his best to make an identikit picture of the girl so that Kel could find her.

He stops for a moment wondering if Kel will do to her something worse than she did to Breanna.

But the decides to trust his friend.

When he's done he calls him.

"Hi Kel, it's Colin. I had more luck at school. Not a name, but I've got a face. I'm afriad I don't know her, but if you ask Dave and his minions I'm sure you could dig up something. I'm leaving it in your mailbox, you'll find it as you get home. Good luck."

When/If you sit down in the chair in front of the monitors they all come to life with various news feeds and streaming data from a variety of sources.  Police scanners and other data is also fed into the system from various sources including traffic and weather data.

Kel immediately locks his eyes to the screens when he sees them come to the life, as far as he could tell the computer had been off.

You hear your name come out of one of the police scanners.  After waiting a few moments you hear it again.

All units, be on the look out for Kelly Stilley, answers to Kel.  suspect wanted for questioning in the attempted assault of a female in her home.

Another monitor displays the data being sent to the cruisers, which includes a picture of Kel and basic description.

Kel sighs, "Oh fuck..."  Kel says as he sits there.  He rubs his chin unsure of what to do.

After several minutes passes Kel's phone rings.  The caller ID says it's his father.

Kel nearly has his phone jump from his hand as he stares down at the id, he picks it up and says, "Hello."

"I don't suppose you're going to be able to explain to me why the police are looking for you?  Something about assaulting a girl in her home.  What the hell were you thinking?"

Kel coughs and clears his throat, "I think it's pretty easy to explain dad.  I mean, well...at the time I thought she had attacked my friend, and well.  It wasn't really assault, well I guess technically it was...but I left as soon as she didn't want me there."

"Well, you're going to have to explain it to the police.  Your uncle is waiting for you to get home.  This is serious business Kel, you're in real trouble here."

Kel sighs, "I know, I also have something for him to check up on, the girl who actually attacked my friend.  I probably shouldn't have gone after a lead myself...because yea..."

"I'll call him and have him come by.  It's better if you turn yourself in.  Get this thing settled."

"Right, I'll be there soon..." Kel clicks off the phone and gets up walking out of the underground lab, he says to Jack, "Well I have to go turn myself into the cops for doing something stupid, hopefully things will get cleared up pretty fast..."

"Been there, done that.  Good luck."  Jack says as Kel leaves.

It doesn't take long for Kel to get home, and when he does his uncle's car is out front.  Once in the house Kel's uncle calls for a patrol car.

"You want to explain to me what happened."  his uncle says, "The girl's parents are climbing the walls over this."

Kel takes a deep breath then begins, "Well, it all starts during the fire when my friend Breanna was klonked on the head by something.  She said that someone had told her to stay away from me because I was theirs.  So I decided to get a look in on this myself, checking out the bathroom she was attacked in, I found some blood and hairs, and some chrome flakes.  Figuring the blood and hair was hers, I took some samples, and then tried to figure out where the hell the flakes came from.  Well, not being some supergenius with a crime lab, I decided to go after another lead since obviously I'm not going to be able to analyze all this stuff.  So, I checked in with a friend of mine to see if there was anyone in the school that had the hots for me, she told me there was some girl in the marching band.  So checking in with another friend, I got a name and address.  And this is where things go bad, because I did something really stupid.  I showed up at her house, feigned sexual interest in her to get into the house, then when we were sitting on the couch and she was going through her wild sexual fantasies deciding on which one to do first.  I pinned her down, and asked what she knew, and well apparently she didn't know anything, and since she was yelling at me to leave, I got up backed away and asked again.  She screamed some more, so I left past some family member.  I then called up a friend of mine who regularly works with the PCD in Chicago because he has some whacky voodoo powers or something, I don't really know.  The point is that he can see the past, so I had him check out the crime scene, and he did, and yea he has a nice drawing and possibly even a name of the girl who actually attacked my friend.  So if you could take care of that while I go to jail, yea...that'd be good.  Oh and here are the samples that I took."  He lays out the samples in their little plastic bags on the table then he extends his hands and says, "So now I guess you should handcuff me and then I go with you to the police station."

Kel's dad starts to shake his head not long after Kel begins to explain what happened.  His uncle listens intently through the entire explanation.

"Ok, I'll look into this stuff.  Once the cruiser gets here they're going to take you downtown and book you.  You'll probably be out on your own recognisance to you wont have to spend the night in jail, but you need to stay clear of this girl for a while."

A few minutes later a patrol car arrives and Kel is taken into custody.  Oddly there are a couple of news vans and other reporters there to get photos and footage of the whole thing.  The officers put Kel into the car and take him to the station.

OOC: I think this is a good place to wrap this thread up. :)

Kel smiles at his uncle and says, "Don't worry, I don't want to be near her..."  He shakes his head thinking about what the girl wanted to do to him that would've "taken awhile"

((Yea, I guess so, it was fun, and nothing really ends a scene better than Kel being taken away in cuffs.))
