After studying the spell, taking it apart into it's component parts and rewriting it so that it made sense to him donnie finally realizes what the spell is for.  It's like a land mine.  Part of it requires the casters to seperate their spirits from their bodies, which is risky business to begin with.  There is also a time window, before the end of today.  There is a conduit opened across astral space to allow for communication with someone that can talk to spirits, a spell to glamor the voice, a spell to charge a circle so that other spirits can find it when someone magical enters it.  It's really complicated, and that's when Donnie realizes what it's for.  The witches intend to take Colin's power.

Donnie gets up to call Colin when a wind tears through his room, knocking him down.  He feels the telltale burn of magic, and he knows it's too late.  The witches have what they want, and Donnie's binding is broken.

"SHIT! Oh shit!"  Donnie grabs his flight jacket and helmet, pounding down the stairs as he calls to Althea. Fuck it. People will see me someday anyway..

The cerulean dragon is waiting for him in the backyard, her frills up and a low hiss like teakettle steam cutting through the wind. Donnie takes a running leap and is propelled onto her back with a nudge by her forelimb. He is still buttoning his jacket as the wings kick up dead leaves as Althea makes a running leap into the air.

Donnie holds on with one hand as he connects the headphone wire dangling from the helmet to his cellphone and speed-dials Sylvia.

Sylvia answers with girlfriend voice--an implicit expectation that he's calling to go to the movies, or just to while away a couple of hours talking about games and books.  "Hi!  What's up?"

Donnie's voice is weaving through whistling wind. "Colin! The witches have broken the binding, and they used Colin to do it! I know he's at the Blackstone building. They entrapped him, pretending to be his spiritual guide, and then ripped his powers away. I'm on my way there riding Althea. These bitches are going to pay!" The fury is evident in his voice.  "They knew about this and planned a complicated spell to do it. Dammit!"

Sylvia bolts out of her chair and starts pulling on her jeans and coat.  "Can you come get me?  I'll call Sarah."

"I don't know if that's a good idea. I am riding Althea to the Blackstone building to get Colin. Think your neighbors would freak if a giant blue dragon landed in you backyard?"

"Right.  Muggles.  I'll ask Mom to get me there.  We'll try to pick Sarah up on the way, and if Kel's home, I'll see if he can come out, too."

"Awesome. I don't know what we are going to do yet, since it seems every move we make they already know. Damn them! DAMN them!"

Sylvia lets Sarah know what's going on once she gets off the phone with Donnie, and one way or another she makes her way to the Blackstone building.

"Is Colin okay?  Is he hurt?  Is there a law against punching comatose evil witches?  Cripes!  Oh crap do you think they are out of a coma and off causing trouble?  Oh and if I could get a ride that would be awesome."

"I don't know the details," Sylvia says apologetically.  "But yeah.  I'd start by visiting the coma ward and smothering them in their sleep, I'm so sick of them."

"I'll call the hospital while I'm waiting for the ride."  Sarah dials up the hospital and asks about the condition of her 'friend' Jane Spofford. 

The nurse doesn't want to tell her anything because she's not family, then Sarah manages to persuade the woman to tell her that the girls came out of their comas and are fine.

Kel explains the Sylvia that he can't come out, but gives her a wink.  After about four minutes he's on the outside of his house after having hopped out through the back.  He says, "So what's going down, 'cause I've had a hell of a day?"

Did the helpful nurse know if the girls had checked out of the hospital yet? 

Sarah sends a text to the whole gang:   APB  = Be on lookout.  Bwitches R Awake! Still in Hospital

They wanted to go home, but the doctors insisted they stay overnight for observation.

"Trouble.  Colin's at the Blackstone building.  The witches stole his mojo.  I don't know what we're going to do about it, but we have to do something."

You mind if I tag along?  Sylvia recognizes the 'sound' of Smith's focused mental communication.

Sylvia jumps in her seat a little but tries to look like nothing's wrong.  Su-ure.  Glad to have you along.  She sounds dubious.  You don't want us to swing by and pick you up, do you?

Kel nods and then checks his phone when his pants vibrate, "So they're awake now and they stole Colin's mojo.  Ya know, I've been saying this for a while but why can't we just beat the crap out of them?"

Sylvia nods.  "We keep trying."  She has to consider the ethics of her decision, an irony with Smith in her head.  "They haven't left us with an alternative."

No, I'm good.

What got your attention?  You're not listening in on me all the time, are you?

If he doesn't want to talk about it, he doesn't want to talk about it, but Sylvia adds it to her understanding of his character and situation.  She'd keep it to herself, if she could:  Dude, you are so messed up.

Sarah grumbles to herself, "Says good night to me and I go home all dreamy eyed from his house.  Meanwhile he's running out the back door to get in trouble as fast as he can."

She texts Colin, half afraid and half angry. 
U OK?  Where R we meeting?  Blackstone?  Hospital?  Got a plan?

Physically OK. Blackstone then hospital. No plan, just want to hurt them. Donnie thinks Vandross may be involved.

Sarah calls Colin.  If he can text he can talk.  And he's got some explaining... no he doesn't.  He's his own person and he doesn't have to tell you where he's going all the time. 

"Hey there.  I'm glad your not hurt.  I'm stuck here waiting for a ride.  We can't hurt the witches too much.  They need to talk to us.  Plus, by now they are surrounded by family.  We can't just go storming in and grab them.  Even with Chris on our side we'd be sitting in a jail in the morning."

Sarah thinks for a second.

"Did we get the name of who gave all those kids Superman who jumped us the last day of school?  Did the police?  Was it one of the witches?  Now that they are up and around they can get arrested.  All nice and legal.  If not I've got another idea I'm working on."

"Their families never stopped them before. At the moment they've got all their powers back, and mines on top of them. How long till they do something we're really going to regret?"

Colin sounds really exasperated. Whatever they did to him mustn't have been nice.

"Donnie says the trap they laid out for me is too elaborated for them. He says they've got help designing it. That's why I say it's Vandross. It would explain everything. You're right though, they've got to answer to the police about trying to kill Donnie twice."

"We just need some proof to connect them.  Hopefully to Donnie AND to Vandross.  We don't know anything about their parents.  They may be as lousy as the bwitches or they may be just clueless or they may even be charmed by their children into thinking everything is okay.  Maybe when we get to the hospital we can find out. 

The more I think about heading to the hospital the more I worry.  You and Donnie have both had open fights with the girls and showing up at their hospital beds may be considered threatening by the police.  I know after all your help they'll be looking at you favorably but it could still get you kicked out.  Maybe Sylvia can set up an illusion to get someone in or a bwitch out.  She might also be very helpful in convincing one of the bwitches to talk.  I think I could help with that as well."
