Wednesday was when Velocity was supposed to check back in with Mt. Heep about the speed drug and the new Superman.

Megan had quickly changed after school, having a bit of time before practice, which was more than enough for her.  Just like last time, she checked the room and then sped in, this time zipping in to hop up and “appear” on one of the lab tables out in front of where he was sitting.  “Hello again.  Not too early I hope?”   She said with a smile as she sat there with her legs crossed.

Mr. Heep didn't seem as shocked at her arrival as he had been with it earlier in the week.  "No, no.  Uhm, what would you like to know about the things you brought me?  The reason I ask is the whole explanation would be long and dull I'm afraid.  Anything specific I can try to answer for you?"

“Well, I guess if there was anything that might be helpful in figuring out how to find those creating this stuff.  Are they both complex and difficult to make?  We are not sure, but there might be the possibility that there are two different sources for them.  And is there anything else useful about dealing with people that are using either of them?  Maybe a way to neutralize it if they are?”  Megan asked hopefully.  “Or are we stuck with just beating them up?”

Then, almost as an afterthought, she added, “Do you have anything that shows the chemical composition and other technical information?  I know someone that would probably want a look at that.”

"Well, they're not made by the same person.  Superman, the earlier version and this one, are very complex, high order stuff.  I don't think it's possible that a student is making it.  Especially in pull form.  The other thing however, it's a serum which is derived from blood.  It has DNA markers in it.  I can tell you it's a male, that's about it. "  He takes a folder from his briefcase and hands it to her.  "This is the chemical composition of both substances.  I hope it helps, since from what I can tell there is no quick fix for someone that's used either of them."

Megan listened to Mr. Heep’s brief description of the two drugs.  The information on Superman was not particularly surprising, though it offered little of a way to learn more.  The information on the speedfreak drug, or serum, however was much more interesting.  She wondered just where Spark had gotten that blood sample, and whose blood sample it was.  Her mind was turning over as she considered a few things.  She was tempted to have Mr. Heep take a sample of her blood and look it over, but decided she might want to talk to John tonight about some of what she was thinking first.

“Thanks.”   She said as she took the folder.  “So far we have been able to handle them, but it is a bit of a pain.”

"Well, that's the hazards of the job as they say.  If it's any help, all you have to do is bide your time.  The serum has a maximum life in the blood stream of about an hour.  Superman is a little less predictable.  If the user has the R-Factor gene then it can last upwards of six hours.  Without the gene the drug only lasts about ninety minuts max."

“Yeah, I guess it is.”  Megan replied to the comment about dealing with doped up goons as a hazard of the job.  She nodded as he talked about how brief the effects could be.  “That is good to know, I’ll pass that along.”

She was just about to start off and stopped, looking back at him.  “One more thing, the serum you said is based off some guy’s blood.  This would mean he likely has superspeed powers?  Anyway to tell if his would be the same, or maybe greater?”

"The serum would dilute the effects.  Maybe by as much as half."

Megan nodded.  “Okay, thanks again.”  She said before speeding away to get ready for practice and the other activities she had for the afternoon involving Homecoming before she would met John over at her house later.
