John made it to Megan's a little after seven.  Even though the weather was getting colder he still wore the same light jacket he always seemed to wear out.

Megan just gave John a smile as she looked at the light jacket he was still wearing as the two made their way downstairs to study some before picking out a movie.  “Must save some money on clothes not feeling the cold.  But you know, people might start looking at you strangely if you are still wearing just that when snow is on the ground and the cold really comes hits.”

"No more  then they looked at me in Maryland probably."  John says hanging his jacket n the rack.  "Still, I should get soemthing else for winter I guess."

“Well, if you really don’t mind standing out, I wouldn’t worry about it.”  Megan replied with a smile as they sat down to start studying.  The blonde teen had to slow herself down to not go through things too much faster than John, but event then they were able to get a lot done in much less time than a normal person would. 

When they were finishing up the studying, Megan leaned back against the sofa, and stretched with a slight yawn.  “So, still no sign of more bees and I guess no sign of the bee guy.  Would it be too much to hope that he has given up?”  She said, knowing it would never be that simple.

Reaching over, she pulled out the folder from Mr. Heep out of her backpack as she added, “I got some things you might want to look at here from Mr. Heep.  It’s the chemical breakdown of the latest version of Superman and the speed drug we found.”  She handed the folder to John.  “He said the speed drug is a serum developed from the blood sample of a male subject.”

John looks over the files with interest.  Megan can tell by the look on his face he understand some of what he's looking at, but not everything.  "Can I keep these?  I'm gonna ask my dad to run this against anything in the NSA database.  Maybe we'll catch a lucky break and this Superman stuff will have a distant cousin in the system. "

“I asked for them for you, not me.”  Megan replied with a smile.  “Not much I could do with them but make origami or use them as tea coasters or something.” 

She was quite a moment, then said, “I was thinking of having Mr. Heep take sample of my blood to see if there were similarities with what created the serum.”  She paused again, then added.  “There is a lot to suggest the guy behind the thefts that were taking place at school has superspeed, and from what Mr. Heep said, it could be as fast as me, as the serum could likely be half as effective.  I was thinking, and this could just be a lot of conjecture, that maybe if there are similarities it might trace back to Lawson Labs somehow, which is where I had the accident that gave me my powers.  That might be something that could lead us to this guy that gave the blood sample, and maybe to Spark.”

"Actually,"  John begins, "Didn't Spark do this with some prostitutes?  Give them superspeed.  Maybe you should talk to your friend at the PD, see if it's the same stuff.  If it is, then that tells us the who.  The how is certainly another matter."

“Yeah, Spark supplied the prostitutes that were impersonating me while robbing drug dealers with stuff very similar to this, with similar effects.  I can talk to Kevin, but I am not sure it tells us the who.  Spark has not displayed superspeed, just the ability to give me painful electrical burns.  So I was thinking the blood is from someone else, and then the question is how did they get the powers?  Just born with them?  Or some other way.”  Megan replies.

"Well, it's hard to say.  There isn't enough useful DNA information here to know for sure.  My uneducated guess would be they got them through some non-natural means.  It's got to be something that is in their bloodstream, otherwise it would be too hard to distill the serum from blood."

“See, that’s why I thought of having Mr. Heep look at mine.”  Megan says.  “I got my powers from non-natural means.  Least, I think they are from my accident.”

She sighed.  “I have been wondering about that every once and while, especially with Lawson Labs wanting a full physical to be done as part of the settlement.  I wonder just what whatever doctor does that might find.”

"They asked for a full physical?"  John says, "Is that normal, I mean the suit isn't because something happened to you, it's more like hush money right?  then why the physical?"

“I don’t think its normal, not for a settlement where we release all future claims against them, like you said, hush and go away money.  But I believe part of the agreement is that they will cover medical payments related to anything that develops for a certain period, which might be why they want the physical.”  Megan replied and then paused.  “Unless they have some other reason to want one.”

"Like they think whatever happened did something to you.  Did you guys ever hear what the lab you had the accident in was working on, or even just the name of someone working in the lab?"

“If my dad knows, he hasn’t told me.”  Megan replied and then went quite.  Her expression was one that John would easily recognize as her thinking carefully about something.  “I think there used to be a boy that used to hang out with the Usual Suspects before I started being around them who’s dad worked there, but I don’t know if it was in the exact room my accident took place in.  I believe his family moved away though.”

John's expression changes.  It's almost as if his gaze and features harden.  Megan thinks for a second it's anger, but then it fades and he takes her hand gently.  "If we can get his name, I can ask if there is anything about him.  Maybe the company suspects something.  It's not unheard of."

“Colin would know I bet, he seems to remember everything.”  Megan replied, squeezing John’s hand.  “There seemed to be odd things about that company, like the water guy that attacked me and caused the accident in the first place, and the fact the security people there had weapons that could affect him.”

"Yeah.  Those are the kinds of things that make me think they know something's going on."

“Yeah, it does make things seem rather suspicious.”  Megan agreed.  She was quite a moment, then said, “Did I ever tell you about Katie Stone?  She was a ten year old girl who could sometimes see the future and do other things similar to what Colin can.  There was a company that wanted to get ahold of her, and even murdered her foster family to do so.  I helped save her from those creeps twice before Kevin arranged for her to go into federal custody.  So I got to meet Eagle Force when we handed her over to them.” 

The blonde teen smiled a bit at the memory of getting to meet the famous superteam, then looked serious again.  “If that company was able to find out she had powers and seemed willing to do anything to get to her, why can’t another be trying to give someone superpowers.”

"Lots of people are working on both giving people powers and taking powers away.  It's sort of the arms race of paranormals."

“Yeah, I guess that’s to be expected.”  Megan replied.  She was quite for a moment then smiled as she looked into his eyes.  “But I think that is enough dreariness for one night.  Time to relax some!”  She kicked off her shoes and climbed up on the sofa behind him and started messaging his shoulders.  “Just think, all you have to do tomorrow is wear a tee shirt with your favorite college or sports team on it, how easy is that?”

She laughed a bit, then stopped the message, her hands still on his shoulders.  “Can you even feel this?  I mean, does it really message you?”

I don't have many logo shirts, and not really on the massage thing.  Sorry."  He smiled, "Thanks for the effort though."

“Hmm, though that might be the case.”  Megan replied.  “Lie down.”  She says with a little shove.  Assuming he does, she then stands on his upper back, rocking her weight back and forth from each foot a bit as she tries to use her feet to message his trapezious.  “Any better?”

"You do realize that bullets only leave bruises on me, right?"  He says.  "One of the flaws of being this tough, is not getting to enjoy certain things."

“Well, I guess that’s true.”  Megan said reluctantly as she stepped off John’s back, letting him turn over before she sat down on his stomach.  “For a normal girlfriend.”

“But..”  She grabbed the remote for the TV and lay down on top of him, bringing her face up in front of his.  “..I..”  She kissed him lightly.  “..am not..”  A second kiss.  “..a normal girlfriend.”  She gave him another kiss.
