Title: Chapter 38. The quiet month of November.
Post by: secretoracle on August 27, 2007, 10:02:25 AM
November 12th thru December 2nd, 2007.

Compared to the first couple of months of school, November is very quiet.  With the witches out of the way, things seem to settle down some.

Within a few days of the Homecoming dance the police identify Bruce Pernell as Sammy's stalker.  She finds out from Dave the day they take him into custody and from her parents that night.

The Thanksgiving Holiday has;

The Howell's headed for Mexico for a few days.

John and his family go back to Maryland to see family.

Sarah and her family go to visit with family in the midwest.

Sylvia and her family go to visit Carolyn's family.

Kel and his dad change the routine this year and at the last minute dad takes Kel to Canada.  They see some sites and hit some night clubs to hear some live music that dad doesn't get, but Kel can appreciate.  Dad even buys Kel a few beers and tries to get to know his son some.

When Donnie's mom realizes that Sylvia is away she packs her and Donnie into the car and they go.  There is no plan, they just go.  During the trip she doesn't drink at all, and somewhere around Ney York State she starts teaching Donnie how to drive.  He drives the I90 Throughway from Buffalo  to Rochester.

Colin and his mom go to spend the holiday with Chris' folks in southern Illinios.  They take a liking to Alex and Colin immediately, and Colin feels good vibes from them.

Elrod and his family spend the holiday together in California.

Sammy and her family have a nice quiet holiday at home, which dad is grateful for.

OOC: If there is any research or investigation any of you do during this time, let me know.

I may post other events that happen during this time frame here as we move along, but for the most part the month of November is quiet.  December is probably going to be quiet also, just so you know.  It will depend on how some things turn out.

Feel free to elaborate on the events of your holiday either in conversation or in Out of Frame posts.  If you need any additional info from me feel free to PM me.

Earlier in the month, Megan will see if her mom can teach her about disarming bombs and the like, and if mom can't she will talk to Jack about learning that.

Mom is floored by this request, and suggests someone who is a bit more current in their experience.  Jack agrees, and anyone else interested in that type of thing is welcome to attend.  Just let me know if you're interested so I can keep track.

Sammy is both saddened and relieved to know that the stalker is Bruce Pernell.  She doesn't bring it up with Elrod other than to say that they got the guy, and yeah, it was Bruce.  She does quietly ask Dave if he has any clue at all why Bruce didn't attack on Homecoming night.  Did he just feel outnumbered?

Sometime in early November she laboriously tries to relearn everything her mom ever taught her about knitting.  Since everybody is away for the holiday, she is parked in the family room with the tv on trying to knit.

Colin takes a lot of nice photos the first day it snows. He also changes his bike's tires to what he calls his winter paws, to have a better balance on the snowy streets.

He investigates about Sarah's birthday, to be sure not to miss it.

He's extremely happy that Chris had felt like inviting them to meet his parents, it's a bit like having grandparents again. He studies Illinois' many bike routes when he comes back to find out if there's any that leads close to their home.

He also decides to spend some time at the local burial grounds, wondering if there's any spirit who might need help, or just someone to talk with.

Sarah plans on questioning Marty about the major hint dropped the night of homecoming.  She's also going to stretch her porting muscles.  Speaking of which, she wants to let the rest of the US know that she can teleport.  So far only Sammy and Colin actually *know* though others may suspect.

Also she tries to pin down Dave about whether the fix was in on the homecoming election.  Oh!  She also talks to her mother about girly things.  Important -but I really don't need a conversation about it- girly things.

Maybe I'll try and write up some bits and pieces.

Kel will be looking into a few things:
-Getting a proper costume
-The Superman Traffic
-He'll start to ask Jack about learning investigation techniques, or if Jack can't help him there he'll start researching it himself and figuring out what can be done in that crime lab
-Once he hears his dad's suggestion, he's going to start wondering what's happened to the man.

Donnie decides to spy on his father and find out what he can about him and his work, not to mention his 'secretary'.

On the first day back in school after Thanksgiving, Megan and John sit at the US table, and Megan hands out the souvenirs she picked up for everyone in Mexico (T-shirts, little knick knacks, etc).
