Velocity left her house and began to scour the surrounding suburbs looking for the other teen hero.  Kel had given her the description he'd gotten out of the papers, so she at least had an idea of what she was looking for.

It didn't take her too long to find a likely suspect.  A group of gangers were laying unconscious in the street, and a small group of people were talking with the police.  Velocity caught part of the conversation, and the gangers had decided to collect some taxes from the locals waiting for a bus.  A young man in a great coat had walked up and drew the gangers attention, then proceeded to redecorate the street with them.  The witnesses said he seemed to fly away, to a nearby six story appartment building roof.

After hearing where the young man that had stopped the gang members had gone off to, Megan speed in that direction, zipping up the wall of the apartment building to come skidding to a halt on the rooftop.

“Hello, anyone here?”  She called out, as she began scanning around the area.

Velocity watches a young man come towards her from the other side of the roof, through the darkness.  He steps into the light of a nearby billboard and she's sure she recognizes him from somewhere.  "Well hello."  He says, a broad smile on his face.  "And to what do I owe the privledge of this visit from such a lovely young woman?"  His accent is unplacable, and his manner refined and calm.

Velocity recognizes Dylan from some of the parties she's attended.

"Is that a new outfit?  It looks very sharp.  The pictures in the paper simply don't do it, or you justice."

In addition to having seen Dylan at some parties she had been to, Megan remembered when Sylvia had brought him down to Greg’s Bunker when they had gathered to plan what how they were going to retaliate to the chaos the witches had unleashed at school.  She had not been in her Velocity costume then, and had not demonstrated her powers, so he likely did not make any connection between Velocity and Megan Howell.

“Oh, you know, just trying to get to know the neighborhood crime fighting teens.  Never know when one might need to borrow a cup of sugar or something.”  She replied with a smile. 


“Why thank you, it is indeed a new costume.”   Megan replied with a grin as she looked down and the costume and made a turn that was over in the blink of an eye.  “The old one had the annoying habit of not holding up that well to lightning bolts or bits of broken glass and the like.  Needed something much more durable.”

She then focused back on Dylan as she continued, “so you apparently know who I am.  You are?”

"Forgive my manners."  he said, bowing deeply, "I am Dylan.  I have another name, but it would be a little hard on your uvula to try and pronounce it."

Megan arcs an eyebrow slightly at Dylan’s comment about her not being able to pronounce his other name.  She then just smiled as she said.  “Very nice to meet you Dylan.”

“So, have you been fighting crime long?  Or is this a relatively new pastime?”  

"Well, it's been a recent hobby.  I've discovered that people are often many shades of gray.  I've decided to spend some time looking at that up close.  There was another hobby up until a few weeks ago, but now I'm pretty much left with this one."  Dylan moves a little closer.  "You smell nice.  That's a very subtle perfume you have on."

Yeah, like majorly hitting on Sylvia.  Megan thought as Dylan mentioned having another hobby that was gone.  “Well, there are worse hobbies.”  She replied with a grin.  “But yeah, people can be pretty complicated in their behavior.”

When he moved a bit closer and mentioned how good she smelled, Megan gave him a half smile, trying not to be too encouraging as she replied, “Umm, thanks.  Subtlety is often underrated.”

“So…in examining the complexities of human nature, have you heard about a man named Vandross?”

Dylan walks around Velocity slowly, smelling the air about her.  "Only in passing.  The name comes up from time to time among the drug dealers, but it's usually in reference to the drug Superman.  Apparently that name belongs to the source, but There isn't much else I can tell you."  He stops walking.  "Aren't you romantically attached to someone?"

Megan turns her head to follow Dylan as he starts to walk around her.  “Yeah, that’s usually how we have heard his name as well.”  

When he stops and asked if she was romantically involved with someone she wondered if he had recognized her scent.  “Yes, I am.”

"So, this romantic attachment, this is the time of our lives when we seek them out but they don't necessarily last the rest fo our lives.  So, my question to you is.  Why do we spend so much time looking now, when we're not really fully who we will be?"

“Well, just because they won’t necessarily last our entire lives, does not mean they might not.  It does happen from time to time.”   Megan replied.  “But I doubt many go into them on the sole hope that will be the case.”

“In part it because we are changing, moving from childhood to adulthood, and there is still a lot to learn about relations with others, romantic or otherwise.  Sometimes it takes trial and error to start to understand them, what is good, what is bad, what we like, and what we don’t.”

“Anot4her part is that its what culturally we have told ourselves is how things are ‘supposed’ to be.”

"So, the highs and lows, the joy and pain.  They're all good.  I'll keep that in mind."  He says, walking back over to the edge of the building and looking down onto the street below.  "So, I don't suppose I could convince you to have some dessert with me, perhaps a slice of pie and ice cream?"

“Well, it’s supposed to work that way, cherish the good, learn from the bad, but doesn’t always.  Like when people keep letting themselves get into abusive relationships.”  Megan replied.

“I think I’ll have to pass on dessert this time.  I try to avoid eating too many sweets this later at night.  Even us super gals have to watch our figures.”

She then paused a moment, thinking about some things her mom had said to her earlier last month.  “But if there were things you wanted to talk about, I’d be happy to listen, as a friend.”

"No, I'm a little too shallow to really need that kind of company."  Dylan says, smiling, "Good night."

“Well, okay then.  Good night.”  Megan replied before she headed off, running back down the wall and back towards Oak Park.

After getting back home from talking to Dylan, Megan changed for bed and gave Kel a call.

After giving Kel a run down on her chat with Dylan, Megan hangs up and lies down to go to sleep, planning to talk to John about it tomorrow.
