Megan made a point of getting to know the kids in teh drama club.  Greg helped her get to know the Drama teacher, and when Megan offered help as choreographer, Mrs. Sherwood was thrilled.  The dancers in the group don't generally consider themswelves actors, but they are still a bit stuck up regarding their Art.  It's not long before Megan finds a connection with them once they see she's a talented dancer.  The general question after that though is, "Why are you wasting this talent as a cheerleader."  She gets the impression it's not meant as a slight, but they're really wondering why she's not focusing on her dancing.

Sometime during the early part of December, Sammy also begins to make herself known around the drama crowd.  Greg introduces her to some of the technical people first, then slowly gets her familiar with the Actors.  Greg admits to playing his relationship with the majority of the group like a director does with actors.  He finds it keeps him out of some of their psycho-drama episodes.  Sammy discovers that most of the ones Greg says are actually actors and not just attention hogs, are also singers.  One of the group, Nick Hurley, can actually do everything Greg thinks a real actor needs to be able to do.  This includes singing, dancing, and comedy.

After the initial connections are made, and Megan and Sammy become an accepted part of the pack.   Mrs. Sherwood calls Sammy and Megan into her office one day after last bell.  "I know both of you have extra curriculars, so I wont keep you long.  I want to do something special before Winter break.  I know that's onyl a couple of weeks away, but I was hoping I could get you girls to help out.  We were going to do something fairly traditional, but some of the studetns have convinced me that these concerts are really for them to show off thier talent, so I want to let their ideas really come out this year."  she lokos at Megan, "Megan, I hear nothing but great things about you as a dancer.  Maybe you and the others can get together to come up with something for a big finish.  Nothing with too much sex, but something that really lets the dancers shine."  She looks at Sammy.  "And, someone told me that you can really sing.  I don't have anyone who is even close to Nick's talent on the girls side of the house.  If you two could do something, something modern maybe.  I'd really appreciate it."  she puts her hands on her desk.  "So, what do you say?"

Sammy hesitates for a moment, then says, "Sure.  Have you talked to Nick about this?  I'd feel weird just going up to him and telling him that we're supposed to share a stage, especially when he's so good and I'm so new at this."

Megan was really enjoying spending time with the dancers in the drama club.  While the other girls on the squad were good at the dances they had, but only a few were really good general dancers.  Being around a group that really cared about dancing was an enjoyable change. 

When Mrs. Sherwood called her and Sammy into her office, Megan had been a little surprised, but as she heard what the teacher had to say, she smiled.  “I’d love to, things like this are what I volunteered to help with.”

"Oh, he knows I'm planning on asking you.  I'm sure he'll be thrilled you've agreed to help."


"That's what I was hoping you'd say.  I'll tell the others, and you guys can start working on what you want to do as soon as you can. "

"Remember, we only have until Friday the twenty-first, so you need to get cracking."

OOC: you have about two and a half weeks, give or take.

Sammy turns toward Megan.  "I suppose you'll have to check with the others first, and I'd have to check with Nick, but do you think we should combine our efforts into one big long production, or keep it as two shorter, separate things?  Nick can dance... and if you stick me in back, I'm sure nobody will notice my mistakes too much."

Megan looked over at Sammy as she replied.  “I can talk to them, but I think Mrs. Sherwood wanted to give each group a chance to shine on their own, after all, there is a whole program to fill.  Besides, if your in the back, it would make it hard for you to be the focal point when singing.  Though I guess shfiting the lighting could help with that.” 

Shrugging slightly, Sammy replies, "No big deal.  I wasn't quite sure, so I thought I should ask."

“Well, I just thought you might like to not have to share your stage.”  Megan said with a smile.  “If you want to see what Nick thinks, I’ll talk with the dancers and get their view, after all, it’s their show, I’m just the choreography help.”  She adds, leaving out that the dancers might be a little less than thrilled with the idea.

"Actually, I was thinking of Nick more than me," Sammy says.  "He can dance and sing,  and I thought maybe that he'd be able to show off his talents.  I'm so new at this, it doesn't matter much what I do so long as I don't distract from the trained talent.  But like I said, its no big deal.  I'll just talk to him and see what he'd like to do, especially since I know he's expecting me.  He probably has a ton of ideas."

“Oh, I see.”  Megan replied.  “He might enjoy the chance to do both, or maybe he might just like the duet?  You might be new, but Mrs. Sherwood sure seemed to think you were the best choice to pair with Nick, so I don’t think you would be distracting at all.  More like you are part of the talent.” 

"I'm not trying to get off the stage," Sammy says with a grin.  "I just don't want people who have been working at this for years to get mad at the new kid who just recently figured out she could sing.  I'll see what Nick wants to do."

“Okay then.”  Megan replied back.  “I’ll talk to the dancers and see what they had in mind.  We can compare notes later.”
