Kel had done some homework and learned there were at least three other teenaged supers in the area.  He'd wanted to talk with them to see if they might have some clues as to the Superman traffic and Vandross.

Kel pulled on his tight mask as he stood on a roof in Chicago's South Side.  He was now wearing the costume of Nightwing, it was a tight form fitting costume with a black base.  There was a light blue piping down his shoulders, arms, and legs coming around in a circle about his neck.  In the center of his chest was a bird-like shape following a similar pattern to the original Batman's logo, a black bird splashed over a color background, in this case his chosen light blue.  The mask despite being a different piece of material seemed to fit seamlessly into the bodysuit, it gave him a formless face with the exception of a pair of built in goggles that hid his eyes from those around him, finally he had barely noticeable slits to let him breath and speak in it.
Once checking to make sure his gloves and boots were tight and wouldn't come undone, he took a running start and leapt over the street, making his way north towards the UofC campus to find the first of the other teen vigilantes.

Kel spent a few minutes moving around the UofC area.  He eventually came across the person he was looking for.  Three guys had decided to rough up a bag lady, only to find that it wasn't a bag lady, but a young fit woman who had been looking for them.

Kel caught the last few seconds of her performance, an expandable baton in each hand she made quick work of the men.  "Didn't your parents teach you it's not nice to pick on old ladies."

She's dressed in a trench coat, heavy boots and what Kel thinks is siome kind of body armor.  She's got a partial mask and what might be some kind of low-light goggles.  She handcuffs them to a lamp post and begins sending a text message.

Kel drops down from his perch on the building above, landing with a silent grace, he stands and stares at her quick work of the thugs, "Impressive." He offers.

She turns her attention to him slowly.  She smiles and slides the phone she was using back into the holster.  "Thanks."  She says the word slowly, drawing out the sylabals.  "A girl has to be able to look out for herself in these dangerous times."  She seems wary of Kel and her posture suggests she's ready for action.

Kel nods, and he tenses slightly unsure of what might happen, he finally asks, "So how long have you been at this?"

"Not long."  she says, glancing around.  "Not to be rude, but is there a point to this visit?"

"I like to be familiar with who else is out there on the streets."  He looks her over and then says, "And of course, to ask them a specific questions as well."

"If this is some kind of creepy super hero pick up line, I'm not going to be amused."

Kel bit down a laugh, Batman wouldn't laugh.  He then asks the one question that has been on his mind over the past few weeks, "Have you ever heard of a man who goes by the name Vandross?"

"It's come up.  Some of the people I talk with think he's a major distributor, some think he's a mid-level punk.  A few think he sells out of his trunk.  I have the feeling he doesn't exist.  No one has the same description of him.  My contacts say he's a vapor trail, nothing more.  Probably a front for some organization, some new group trying not to get killed by the big fish."

Kel nodded, this girl was smart that much was obvious, he spoke after a moment of digesting the information, "Yes, that seems to correlate with what I have heard.  Have you ever heard of anything he deals in that isn't...normal?"  He didn't want to bring his awareness of Vandross' paranormal activities unless he had too.

"Rumors are thick that he's the source for Superman, but none of the dealers who sell it have been any use in finding out who he is.  He always deals with them over the phone and deliveries are made through third parties that no one knows."

Kel nods slowly, so there wasn't words on his paranormal activities beyond Superman.  Still the fact that all that anyone knew of him was that he was mysterious worried him, finally he spoke, "Yes, I've heard these rumors too, all he does is be mysterious, but no one seems to have anything concrete.  I suppose you don't have anything?"

"He's a little too elusive for me to worry about right now.  I've got my plate full.  If I find anything I'll put it in a personal add in the Tribune.  You got a name I can use?, I'll sign it Dark Angel.  If you think there is anything I should know, you can do the same."

"Nightwing." Kel supplied, as he made his way off back to the rooftops, plotting his next move.

OOC: You want me to close this or will he continue to try and seek out the other heros?

((Definitely going to keep on trying to track the one who is near the airport, meanwhile calling Megan to see if she's willing to do some searching for him))

Megan was lying on her bed in her room, reading her notes for her classes, reviewing the material they had covered since the start of the year (a rather easy task for her to do regularly and thoroughly).  Hearing her phone ring, she picked it up and looked at the caller ID before putting it up to her year.  “Hey Kel, what’s up?”

"Hey, I was wondering if you would mind looking into something for me."  Kel asks, "I've noticed there are a few other teen supers in Chicago, and there's this one guy who moves about.  I was hoping you'd be able to track him down and see what he's all about, maybe see if he has any information on Vandross."

Setting aside, her notes, Megan sat up as she asked.  “There are some other teen supers in town?”  She did not really wait for a reply before she added.  “Sure I could help look for this guy.  You said he moves around?  Like how much around?”  As she talked, she suddenly was up in a flash, her new Velocity costume lying on her bed.

"Like all throughout the suburbs and edges of the city, all sides if I remember correctly.  I already checked one who's been hanging around the UofC, and now I'm heading for one that hangs around near O'Hare."  Kel says into his phone as he leaps to another building.

“Hmm, okay, I’ll start covering the suburbs then.”  Megan replied.  “I’ll give you a call if I find anything.”  Hanging up, she then changed in a flash.  The new costume, made of the same material that John’s was, felt almost like a second skin, even more so then the costume she had made for herself from Halloween costume parts. 

A few seconds later, she was outside, speeding down the road to start scouring the suburbs looking for this mystery teenage superhero.

Kel lands on a roof about five blocks from the rear fence of the airport.  The area is mostly rundown shops and older houses.  It's the kind of place that lacks most things, except crime.  There is a hearbeat a few yards to his left.

"Normally don't see anyone else up here."  a voice says.  "Nice costume.  So are you a hero or a villain?"

Kel turns to face the heartbeat straightening and keeping his hands near his side, "Just a fellow trying to do some good in the world.  I hope you're the same?"

"I try to keep busy.  What brings you here?"  The figure steps out of the dark.  From the outfit it's obviously the kid from the reports.  He walks towards the roof edge, where a video camera sits on a tripod, pointing down at the street corner below.

"Trying to get a feel for what other people are doing in the city, and whether they have any useful information."  He walked towards the camera area, trying to spot what exactly it was facing.

The camera is facing a street corner, near a small convenicne store.  While Nightwing is watching, he sees at least one, possibly two drug deals take place.

"Don't forget to smile for the camera boys."  the other boy says quietly.  "This is just a little scouting.  I need to see who all the players are before I shut this dealer down."  He turns to look at Nightwing.  "So, I'd be happy to share, anything particular you're looking into?"

Kel nodded as he stood there, watching the deals.  He then said, "One name with far too little information: Vandross."

"Well, lots of information, just none of it makes any sense.  It's obviously a false identity.  It's rented warehouse space, opened bank   accounts, bought cars.  Electronically it has everything, including a picture.  The picture belongs to a guy that died back in the '80s, homeless person that got cremated by the state.  So, it's a complete fake.  Now, plenty of people say they've talked to him, dealth directly with him.  He's into all kinds of stuff including black market magical talismans, illegal weapons deals, drugs, and if all these people are to be believed the Superman trade.  So, either a dozen people are claiming to be this guy, or the person behind it has some way of making people think they're talking to Vandross.  Hypnosis, mind control, memory alteration.  The list of possible, albeit bizarre, possibilities is endless."

Kel nods, this guy had definitely done his homework on Vandross, "The more I hear about him and the fact that it seems so improbable that it's one man, the more I think in comparison to what else has been happening around here, one man wouldn't be too odd."

"It's certainly a puzzle beyond my time and resources."  He takes out a notebook and makes a few notes about what he's recording.  "It's one of those things that is connected to enough things that someone would have to be coordinating it all, otherwise there would be too much room for error.  Someone in the line would have made a mistake by now."

"Exactly."  Kel stated in agreement, this guy had a cool head but he seemed fairly disinterested in actually doing something, Kel then asked, "I hope it wouldn't be forward of me to ask you to keep your ear to the ground for me for any information relating to Vandross."

"No problem.  Here."  He hands Kel a card with an email address on it.  "This is a secure address, you send me one and I'll forward you everything I have that seems connected to Vandross.  Maybe you can make use of it."

"Certainly."  Kel says, then slowly backs away before jumping off of the building and into the night.
