Sunday evening, a bit before John was due over for their regular study/spend time together session, Megan gave Sammy a call.

Sammy is buried under a mountain of homework.  All of the extracurricular activity is chipping away at her study time.  When she sees the caller id, she wishes for a moment that she had Megan's speed so she could get it all done.

"Hi Megan.  What's up?"

“Not much, just watching the last of the weekend slip away.”  Megan replied as she sat on the bed in her room.  “How has your weekend been?  Did you and Nick pick out a number?”

"Yes!  We picked out As Long As You're Mine from Wicked.  It fit both of our voices, and he liked it better than The Song That Goes Like This from Spamalot.  It was easiest to find good duet songs from theater productions than anywhere else.  We started learning it already.  Is your dance coming along okay?"

“That’s great, that should be an awesome number.”  Megan replied with a smile.  “Yeah, we have started working on putting together the dance number for the dancers.  Having to make sure I keep the ‘sex’ toned down, so used to not worrying about that too much with cheerleading dances.”

The blonde teen then paused, while it was nice to hear about what was going on with Sammy, she had called for a very different reason.  She was feeling somewhat torn, unsure if she should do this.  “Sammy…the reason I called is I wanted to tell you that I have heard that an upperclassman girl is interested in El.”

“I really don’t think she has much of chance of getting him to forget you, but…I still thought you should know.”

In a strangled little voice, Sammy says "Oh".  Then she pulls herself together.  "OK.  Thanks for telling me, I guess.  I...  who is it?  Do I know her?"  Thought but not said is Do I have to go kick her a$$?

Megan bites her lower lip, she had been afraid Sammy would ask those questions.  She knows she would do the same.  “You don’t know her.”  Megan finally answered.  “I…would like to tell you who she is…but I would be breaking a confidence more than I already am.  It’s very possible there could be gossip about it come Monday though.”

"Oh.  OK..."  Sammy is silent for a moment.  "You know that it's not that I don't trust El, right?  He's a good guy.  It's just... never mind.  I'm being stupid.  Of course girls are going to like him.  I like him, so why wouldn't someone else?  You don't think this person will try anything stupid or embarrassing, or come after me to try to make me do something stupid and embarrassing, do you?  I mean, she has to know he's seeing somebody else, and she must not care about that, so..."

“I don’t know Sammy.”  Megan replied in response to the other girl’s questions about whether Torrance might try to embarrass Sammy somehow.  “I know the situation sucks, but like you said, you trust El, so there shouldn’t be a problem.  Think of it this way, at least it is just normal teen drama to worry about for a change, instead of evil witches or the like.”

She paused a moment, and then said, “okay, I know, weak attempt at trying to make things seem not so bad.”

"Its okay.  Its probably better that I know.  Maybe that will keep me from over-reacting.  At least now I can't be surprised by it, right?  Just... just let me know if you find out she has pictures of me and El with my face blacked out in ink.  Or a room filled with pictures of Elrod.  I guess its only fair that its his turn for a stalker."

“If I knew it was at that level, I would tell you her name, her address, class schedule and anything else I knew about her.”  Megan replied, her tone serious.

“Greg got me some possible leads on my electrical friend.  John and I are planning on trying to bait him into a trap.  Interested in possibly helping beat on a bad guy?”  She then asked.  “Can be good stress relief.”

"Sure.  I'll add it to the to-do list.  Maybe we can go Christmas shopping afterwards.  Who needs sleep anyhow?"  Sammy sighs.  "I wish I could do my homework as fast as you can.  Must be nice."

‘Yeah, it’s a nice benefit.”  Megan replied, feeling a bit guilty about how little time it took her to do a serious amount of homework.  “But the danger is that if I am not careful I can wind up getting really board and frustrated in a line that only takes a few minutes as it feels like it takes a couple of hours.”

“I’ll let you know when we plan to spring the trap.  Don’t hesitate to call me if you want any company Christmas shopping.”

"Thanks.  You know where to find me if you need me in a hurry."

“Will do.  I need to be going, John should be here any minute for our Sunday study session.  Have a good rest of the night, I’ll see you tomorrow.”  Megan said.

"OK.  Thanks."  Sammy disconnects the phone on her end, and looks at the pile of work to be done.  "Blechh."  She deliberately ignores it and calls Elrod instead.
