Sammy had found it difficult to track down Preston.  He'd dropped out of the Science Club to spend more of his free time with other robot guys.  She managed to find out a place and time to catch him.

OOC: I know you wanted Colin there.  Anyone else?

OOC:  I dunno.  Does Sarah feel like saying "Preston, you want to tell me all about every illegal thing you've done over the past six months."?  Megan will be on stage too, so she'd have a reasonable excuse to be around if she wants to do so.

OOC: Be happy to ... but only Sylvia knows about that particular trick so far.  Maybe I should wear an Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind T-Shirt?  Now the real question is did I forget to tell you or just make you forget I told you? 

OOC:  I don't remember...  what were we talking about again?  Ooh, puppies running and jumping over rainbows!  I love puppies.  They're so *cute*!

Sammy takes Colin along when she talks to Preston.  When they find him, she approaches him in a friendly way.  "Preston!  You are so tough to find, guy!  I checked with the Science Club and you quit going?  Are you still doing the robot stuff?  I have a favor to ask that needs a robot, or better, robots."

"I've been concentrating on some other stuff.  Not as much time for the club, as a matter of fact I really don't have time for another project right now."

"Oh."  Sammy appears to be disappointed.  "I guess I'll just have to figure out another way to get pictures.  I'm going to be singing in the Winter Concert, and thought it would be cool to have a couple of mobile cameras running around recording the performance.  I thought it would be a good way to show off your robotic skills too."

"That's great, about the concert I mean.  I'm sorry though, there's this national competition coming up and I'm really trying to focus on that.  Big scholarship money involved, so I really don't have time to do much else.  Thanks for thinking of me though."

"I was just trying to share the wealth,"   Sammy shrugs.  "But the scholarship thing is way more important.  What kind of events are in the competition?  Do you get to go someplace cool?"

"Hot actually.  Out in the dessert, Las Vegas.  That's if I make the cut.  I'll know this Spring, about three weeks before the event.  The local event will be in January.  So I'm gonna be busy for a while."

"Oh. That sounds really cool." Colin seems to think about it. "Sorry I'm Colin Crow, of the school paper crew." He offers his hand to shake, wishing it could get him to glimpse into this guy secrets. "I'm a photographer, and Sammy wanted to ask us to work together, but it looks like you're busy. Could I cover your story for the paper, or your project is to be kept secret?"

"Need to keep it under wraps.  The stakes are a bit too high. sorry."

Colin gets a flash of some people in a room.  Preston is throwing things around, he's really angry.  "All these rich kids get anything they want.  That scholarship was my last chance to go to a really good school.  This is such bullshit."

"Look, you're brilliant, you all are.  So why not use your brilliance to find a way to get the money you need for school in a way that doesn't hurt anyone.  Killing someone isn't the way, what if college changes that guy and he goes on to save thousands of lives.  You need to concentrate on finding a way to get what you guys need with a minimum of negative impact so that you can go on to do the great things I know you're all capable of."

The vision falls apart with the anger that Preston had.  It begins to dissolve as he turns to look at the boy who spoke, but Colin already knew who it was.  He recognized Logan Darklighter's voice.  "You're right, absolutely right."  And then it's gone and Colin is back in the here and now.

Sammy smiles ruefully.  "Too bad.  It sounds really interesting.  Oh well."  She sighs.

Colin blinks a few times, then he remembers to put on a vaguely disappointed expression.

"Oh. What about this spring then, when it'll be over?"

He isn't really interested in the answer though, and he excuses himself a few moments later.

Right what I need most. A moral conundrum. What do I do now?

He's got to talk with the others about it. He might not always agree with them, but they make him see things more clearly.

Sammy is left in a little bit of a lurch when Colin excuses himself.  It feels abrupt to her.  "Busy guy," she says to Preston as Colin departs.  "And so are you, and so am I," she continues, "I should let you get back to work."

"Okay.  It was nice talking with you again."  Preston waves good-bye and then goes back to what he was going to be doing.

OOC: This done or will Sammy & Colin be chatting?

OOC:  I'll be in a bunch of meetings today, so my access will be limited.  If you want to chat, I'll chat.  If you don't, that's okay too.  Either way, just do what you want to do.

Sammy looks around quickly for Colin but can't figure out where he might have gone.  She goes to wherever it is that she should be with her current overbooked schedule.
