The argument brewing at the US table is interupted by some yelling from across the cafeteria, and then someone flying backwards several yards to crash land on another table.

"I told you to keep you hands of her, she's mine!"  A voice yells out after the boy that went flying.

Struggling to sit up the boy that went airborne reaches in his shirt pocket and takes something out, then puts the object up against the skin of his neck.  A moment later he roars "Let's see about that motherfucker"  Then he hops up and leaps back across the room to the boy that threw him. 

Other people begin to scream and run for cover as the two boys, obviously possessing super human powers, begin to clug it out.

I think Cassie is flying back home today, so we may not see her.  We can assume that she has left the lunchroom for some errand if we don't hear from her and if we do we can slip her in.

Sarah stands up, startled.  I REALLY HOPE I DIDN'T CAUSE THAT!
She looks over the fight area closely and makes a quick decision.
"I'm going in low." she says before ducking under the US table.

*zwip* She vanishes, guiltily grateful for the excuse to escape the table.

Donnie gets up and sees the situation unfolding.

She just doesn't pick up the second one, if she can do that.  Otherwise they get lifted *fast* and she tries to pull them apart.

OOC: Are Sammy's winds making a lot of noise?  If not then she wants to 'talk' to the two gentlemen having a disagreement.  Mental Transform. 

"You two just decided to call a truce because you think whatever your on might be making you both really sick.  You heard that medical assistance is on the way.  You know that staying calm will help keep you from getting sicker.  You also don't remember me saying any of this, it was all from your own thoughts."  

Both boys look at her like she's on crack.

OOC: I can't believe they BOTH made their Saves.

ooc: Donnie is helping Colin usher out people, grabbing or helping anyone who is collateral damage from the fight.

The boy on the ground grabs a table and hurls it at the boy being held in the air.  The table hit the held boy square on and shatters intot a dozen pieces.

Sylvia comes back from the bathroom, preoccupied by the idea of doing an article about analyzing the handwriting samples of the bathroom graffiti.  Amid the usual chaos of the lunchroom, she doesn't immediately notice what's goign on. (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1345136)

Colin looks at Sarah for a moment, frowning, wondering if something is wrong with her. It makes no sense. What is she trying to do?

He remembers that something he could do already worked on people high on superman, so he let's his anger flare out, and wraps it around himself to look terrifying.

"You two are going to stop NOW!" he shouts in a deep scary voice that doesn't sound like his own.

Seeing that Sarah and Sammy look quite in control of things, Colin tries to pick up the object (possibly a syringe?) that the unconscious guy put against his neck. He thought so far that superman were pills. He really hopes to be lucky and to find out something about where that thing came from.

Sarah's taken control of the guy on the ground.  Alrighty then.  What to do with this one?  I guess I can just hold him up there until somebody shows up to take charge; if I drop him, he'll run away or start fighting again.

Sammy keeps him up in the air, unable to hurt anybody else.  If he gets feisty, she shakes him around a little bit.

The Usual Suspects manage to vanish into the crowd.  The police arrive and take the pair into custondy, transporting them to the hospital for evaluation.  Statements are taken from witnesses which basically amount to "I couldn't see much" and "I was busy running away".

Colin shows the others what he found.

"Take a look at this patch. One of the guys had it on his neck. You put it on, and suddenly -bam- you're like the hulk. Even easier than swallowing pills. Should I show it to the police, of have it investigated on our own, maybe by Mr Heep?"

The he turns to Sarah, raising an eyebrow.

"What were you trying to do? Hypnotize them?"

"The Force can have a strong influence on the weak-minded," says Sarah as she waves her hand Jedi fashioned in front of Colin.  "Hey it's worth a shot trying to talk to them once in a while isn't it?  I don't hypnotize people, though I have baffled them from time to time."

Which is technically true.  I wasn't trying to suggest anything to them in a receptive state of mind.  I was just trying to manually overwrite their current perception of reality.  Totally different.  Right?  Right.  Plus it didn't work at all so it's double true.

"Did both of them have a patch?  If you only got one then maybe the police have the other.  Mr. Heep could analyze it and let us know.  Or we could split it in half and send half to the police if you are worried about it."

To Sammy she says, "Good job with the wind.  Certainly made everything a lot easier."

Colin looks like he's not really convinced, but neither willing to push on. For now.


"Uhmm. Well, I'll call Chris and ask him if they've already got a sample. What I really hoped was to get some sort of vision from it. Maybe if I..."
He looks around, uncertain to go on.

Donnie joins the discussion. "Actually, Colin, that's an awesome idea. You see who sold it to that guy, and we follow him, see who he gets it from. Follow the food chain up the ladder, find out who is in charge. Maybe lead to you-know-who."

He looks at the patch dubiously. "That's pretty high-tech, man. Wonder where they got the technology to produce Superman Patches."

Sammy grabs a discarded plastic sandwich bag.  "Put the patch in this bag. I'll take it to Heep, but I don't want to touch the thing, just in case.  I've been Gooped; I don't want to be Supermanned too. Colin, you should probably wash your hands."  She shoots Donnie a weird look.  "And for the record, I'm not using Elrod for anything.  Nothing.  Nada.  And I'm not being used either.  I'm sick to death of people insinuating things that are so not true!"

"Let me explain. Just by holding it it didn't trigger anything. But if I was to put it on, maybe it would work, and I would get a vision. I don't think there's enough superman on it to still be dangerous, that guy got the most of it. I'd do it in a safe place, and I'm not angry at anything, but if something weird happened, well, Sarah could just zap me down."

Sylvia gives Colin a look.  "Colin Crow, if you put that thing on your neck, I am so telling your mom.  What do you think you'll find out, anyway?"

"I don't know. I don't get to pick. But somebody has handled this thing, sooner or later. It might give us a start."

"Why not just ask the moron who was wearing it?"

Sarah nods to Sylvia's suggestion.  "That's a good idea.  People like talking to you.  If that doesn't work, Sylvia and I are pretty persuasive.  I'm sure the police would probably let us visit them for a few minutes."

Sylvia looks troubled by that idea.  She beams into Sarah's head.  If you're thinking what I think you're thinking--and please note that I don't know--that might be a bad idea.  Messing with juvenile offenders and crazy people is one thing.  Messing with the police puts us in federal-offense territory, and I still don't know whether Arizona Flats has a separate juvenile facility.

No silly.  I'm not thinking about messing with the cops!  Colin has a lot of credit built up with the police.  Not to mention people like helping him out.  If he asked a stranger for change on the street they would just give it to him and not have a doubt he would be spending it towards some worthwhile goal.  It's just his vibe.  The police would probably just says "sure".  Alternatively we could just wait until they are back home tonight to talk to them.  They are probably going to get bailed out and released unless they have some sort of previous record.  They are stupid doped up teenagers who started a fight in school.  No one wants to really drag them into jail for the night.

"We could just find out their names and home addresses here and give them a visit tonight."

"Good plan," Sylvia says, "Far better than getting Colin started down the path to chemical dependency."

Colin looks at the patch on his hand. It would be so easy, despite what his friends say. He wonders for a moment what it would be like to be strong and fast like John. Then he remembers Billy Hitchcock's words. You don't ride a high like that and not want more. It would be so easy. But easy doesn't make a wrong thing right. Reluctantly, he puts it in the plastic bag Sammy handed to him.

Heh. It looks like I've learned something about myself anyway.

"It only takes once to get hooked on a chemical. I've heard stories of people getting hooked after a single tablet of x. Don't do drugs. Even with the best of intentions."

Donnie looks ready to tackle Colin if he raises the patch to his neck.

Colin hands Sammy the bag and gets out his phone.

"Chris, it's Colin. No, don't worry, there's no trouble. We just had a little incident with superman. Do you know it comes in patches to put on one's neck now? Would you need a sample?"

"If you have any we can have the lab take a look at it, see what they can tell us.  I can come down and pick it up."

"Ok, we've got it here in a plastic bag ready for you."

A few minutes later Chris meets Colin and takes the bag.  "I'll let you know if we find out anything."

"Thank you. I really hope it's useful. It's like he's getting bolder, he's got to make a mistake sooner or later."

"This drug is getting more and more frightening.  It's being mass produced in multiple formats.  When is it going to roll out as children's chewables?" says Sarah.  "What scares me is if I had found this drug before my powers I might have been tempted."

"That's what we're seeing a lot of.  People are taking it fort he rush of having super powers.  And most of the time the drug does some pretty bad things to the body."

"The rush?  What rush?"  If Sylvia sounds a little scornful, it's because there's no rush in what she does, only growing dismay with the human heart.

Sarah answers to Sylvia, "The rush of doing something wild or amazing.  It's a chance for one minute being more than just a face in the crowd.  That's never been something you've wanted?"

Sarah asks Chris, "What is it doing to their bodies?"

Sylvia shakes her head but doesn't interrupt as Sarah goes on.  Sylvia's always been a bit of a freakazoid--her parents, her family, her clothes, her diet.  She'd much rather blend.

Sammy chips in.  "The problem with that rush is that once probably wouldn't be enough.  Why would you want to go back to being normal?  They don't get any of the downside of being "special" all the time."

"The NSA report says that it has lasting effects on the heart and kidneys.  The addictive profile is very high, even higher than cocaine.  It's pretty nasty stuff."

Colin grits his teeth and clenches his fists.

Sooner or later, Vandross, sooner or later.

"Special like the olympics is how I usually feel," Sylvia says.

"Oh, puh-leeze!" Sammy retorts.
