Title: Chapter 42 Post by: secretoracle on November 18, 2007, 10:35:23 AM Friday December 14th through Sunday December 16th, 2007 In The News A recent altercation at Oak Park High School involved a new street drug, dubbed Slap because of the patches which users slap on to administer the drug. The authorities report this is a diluted form of Superman but equally as dangerous. Slap is spreading more rapidly than Superman because it's cheaper to manufacture and easier to make. The mayor of Chicago has asked for federal assistance in halting the spread of the drug. Donald Howell, mayor of Oak Park resigned this week to return to the private sector. He will head up the London offices of Baker & McKenzie, the firm where he got his start. Deputy Mayor Jim Metzler has assumed the post of Mayor and will maintain the post until the next general election. School News With Megan leaving for England, Torrance Shipman has taken over the choreography of the Winter Concert dance number. The deadline for donations to the food drive will be end of the day on Monday the 17th. Remember the Winter Concert will be Saturday December 22nd at 7PM. Tickets for family members are on sale in the Student Store. Students are reminded of the zero tolerance policy for drugs on school grounds. Any student caught with drugs for which they do not have a prescription face immediate expulsion. School Talk There is a bit of rumbling among the slackers and emo kids because their usual sources for recreational drugs have dried up because of the recent crackdown in the city by the police over this whole Superman and Slap thing. The dance kids are a little grumpy about Torrance. She is apparently very pushy and not nearly as fun to work with as Megan was. There is a little buzz that Sammy, that girl who is dating Elrod, has been spending a lot of time with some kid from the drama department. Rumor mill has it that they were seen kissing the other day. Events Logan gives Colin's notebooks back to Sylvia on Friday (which assumes the meeting was Thursday). He informs her he's still looking over the information, but he'll keep her in the loop. Nick told Sammy Thursday that they're to the point he thinks they can cut back some on practicing. Friday will be the last everyday practice. They'll practice Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday and that should be enough to get them through the concert. OOC: I'm changing the chapter break out a little. I will now try to Run a chapter for Monday through Thursday and include Friday in the weekend chapters. That way I can include end of school week stuff, a lunch room thread and then have the weekend (including Friday night) all in one place.
