Based on the information Colin got from the spirit of Tom Renquist he headed over to the autoshop building.  The building where the auto shop was wasn't part of the school proper.  It sat across the street from the back parking lot, and if you didn't know it was the autoshop class, you might miss it.

Colin didn't have a key, but he was begining to realize that he often didn't need one.  He reached out for the handle, and gave it a turn, and it opened for him.  He let a little smile cross his face, he was starting to get the hang of some of these things.

Colin turn towards Sarah, shrugging. "It looks like I didn't need your help to get in after all. Sometimes the universe would like me to be in one place, and it just gets me there. It happened when Torrance attacked Sammy too. I have no idea why I got there, I only know I was there at the right time."

He opens the door for her, and they both get in the dark building. Colin lets his eyes shine with magic. As Tom has said, there must be something here. He takes a long and slow look around, trying to think. Maybe the wrench? Nah, it would be asking for too much. He checks the shop to see if he recognizes the spot he last saw Tom alive, with the eyes of his murderer.

Sarah looks around and says, "That's okay.  I don't want to become a glorified skeleton key.  What are we looking for?  This happened a long time ago and this place probably gets used every day."

"I have no idea. But I promised Tom that I would have tried anything to find his body, and that includes checking here. I'm hoping a murder leaves a strong impression on a place, and that I could track that impression to find where he's been dragged."

Colin lets the world soak into him.  Searching for something he can't see, in a place he's never been, to help someone that's not alive.

Sarah pokes around and tries to think of how they might make someone disappear.  She looks for large barrels, oil drums for old oil or a bin for junk.  "I hope you can sense something Colin.  How would you get someone out of here anyway?  In a barrel or a big bin of junk?"

Murder leaves a strong impression on a place, and Colin feels it not long after entering the auto shop.  He finds the wrench, cleaned and hanging on the rack where it belongs, and it yields it's story to him eagerly.  Striking Tom three times total, the wrench was then meticulously cleaned in the parts cleaner and returned to the tool rack.

From there Colin moves around the shop, letting the energy from the place leak into him, and guide him.  He stops at the waste oil drums.  None of these hide a body, but one was where Tom's body was put, then moved.  Colin keeps getting the same thought over and over, location of convenience.  The killer had acted on impulse, and was working alone.  They needed a place that was close to put the drum, somewhere that it would go unnoticed.  Colin walks to the door nearest the oil drums and steps outside.  Across a small parking lot was the school tennis courts.  Colin saw them as they are now, and the shadow of how they were then.  They were being resurfaced, the cement had all been torn up in preparation for the new cement to be put down.  Location of Convenience.  All he needed was a shovel and some time.

Colin walked across the parking lot, though the gate and onto the tennis court.  He walked around for a moment, until he felt it.  The plume of energy that marked the spot where a spirit was anchored.  Where Tom Renquist's body was buried.

Sarah followed quietly behind Colin letting him find his way without interruption.  She keeps her head up and on the lookout for anyone taking particular notice of them.  A slim chance of this considering it was an old mystery. 

"It's here, Sarah. He's buried here, I'm sure. I'll call Chris."

He flips out his phone. Chris is on speed dial.

"Hi, Chris. I need some advice. If I told you that there's a body buried under our school's tennis court, would you be able to keep me out of it, or too many people would ask you how you found out?"

Sarah was really glad she didn't play tennis here.

"Well, Kevin and I have you listed as a confidential informant.  Basically you have a codename for use in our files, and only he and I know who you are.  Since you've been able to help us out on other cases, we could use your information to get a warrant.  Your identity will be protected.  The very worst thing that could happen would be you'd have to testify in a closed Grand Jury, but that would only be if your visions showed you the killer in the act."

"No, they didn't." Unfortunately. "I just saw through his eyes. It's the body of Tom Renquist. He disappeared this summer, I think. Please, send someone to dig here. He deserves better than this. He's been killed by someone he thought of as a friend."

"Okay, I need an hour or so to get a warrant, I'll send Kevin to see the judge and I'll come there so you can show me the spot.  See you in about fifteen."

"Ok, Chris. Thank you."

I've found you Tom. Now your family will know.




And if I can, I'll find your killer too.

The darkness around Colin seems getting a little more dense for a moment.

About fifteen minutes later Chris arrives.  "So, show me exactly where the Renquist boy is."  Once Colin shows him Chris gets on the phone, "Kevin, I'm standing on the spot so have dispatch GPS my phone for the location.  How long on the warrant?" Chris checks his watch, "Okay, I'll be here when they get here."  He hangs up.  "Okay, a crew should be here in about an hour to dig.  You want to take off and I'll call you when we find him?"

Colin is a bit reluctant at first.

"I don't know. Maybe I should be here when you find him. But we have to talk."

"Ok."  Chris says, "We have some time, what do you want to talk about?"

"Tom Renquist's grandfather was a masked robber in the 50s. He went by the name Freeze Frame. Ha had invented a sort of camera, he called the Psychochronometron. I think it allowed him to enter a place, confuse the minds of everyone there, and get out with everything he wanted. Tom had found it, and showed him to a friend in the school's auto shop, over there. This 'friend' used it on him, grabbed a wrench, and hit him in the head with it. Probably to get the camera. That camera  was found when the school was searched. Mr Heep has it now. That's how I found out about Tom."

Colin sighs.

"So far it was my visions. Now follow my reasoning. We know that here at the school there must be someone good at finding out how things works and copying them. The tunneling ray, for example was stolen here at school, and now there are robots around, sporting a smaller version of it. I think the same thing happened to the camera. Someone found out how it worked and made a smaller version of it. A version small enough to fit a cellular phone camera.
Do you remember Rory Burns? His sister, Shelia, had her memory tampered with. By someone who pointed a cellular phone at her. By someone who ordered her to return the card that killed her brother to Emille Vandross.
Do you see it as I see it? Tom Renquist was killed by someone closely involved with Vandross. Maybe by Vandross himself. Maybe he was his first victim."

"Okay, I'm following along so far.  this sort of explains how Vandross can be described differently by everyone, and how we can't get a line on him.  Maybe forensics can turn up something on Renquist's body, maybe we can catch a break."

"I hope so. I also hope that if your guys take a good look at the Psychothingie, they might find a way to counter it. Like I dunno, special mirror shades or anything."

"We'll take it in and call some people.  The NSA usually handles that sort of thing for us."

"Even a way to detect it would be fantastic," adds Sarah.  "I wonder if you have to be looking at the camera?"

"I'm not sure. Chris, do you think the school will close because of this?"

"Probably not.  They wont be playing tennis for a while, but I don't think much tennis gets played out here in December anyway."

OOC: Is there anything else for this before Colin and Sarah hear about what the police find?

OOC: I'm all set but I can't speak for Doc.

Chris tells Colin and Sarah to find some place warm for the next couple of hours, and that he'd call.

A few blocks away was a book store with a small coffee shop inside.  It was a place where people could go, read, drink hot aromatic teas and listen to an eclectic mix of music from the overheard speakers.

About two hours later Chris calls.  "It was right where you said it would be.  They took the body in for an autopsy and to get a positive ID.  The old missing persons file has a DNA reference, so we'll be able to get a positive ID quick.  Forensics are pouring over the place, maybe we'll find something."

"I hope so. He only wants his family to know the truth. Then he'll have some peace at last."

He says nothing for a moment.

"Chris, how do you deal with this? How do you manage facing everyday the worst humankind has to offer? Don't you get tired? I am tired. I can't wait for this to be over."

"That's because you're making the classic mistake.  You're forgetting that your an agent in all of this.  You have a job to do and when it's done you have things to go home to that make you happy.  You just have to let go sometimes, and live your life.  Ignoring all the ugly, even for just a little while.  As much as I don't want to say this, it gets easier."

Colin for a moment can't help but thinking that there must be a reason Chris met him and his mother, and that maybe part of this reason was to help him through this. Like pieces of a puzzle falling in place. it makes him feel a little better.

"I think I see. Thank you, Chris."

"Hey, no problem.  Listen, unless you want to check out the hole itself, you can probably head home or whatever.  I'll let you know what comes of the autopsy.  Is there anything else you need while we're on the phone?"

Colin thinks about it a little while, and decides he has something to do before going home.

"No, I don't think I need anything else. I'll check the hole as we get home. Goodbye, and thank you again."
