In The News

A head was found on the Michigan Avenue Bridge over the weekend, and investigators soon discovered the body it had originally belonged to smashed between the two halves of the bridge.  The deceased, Richard Hollander, was wanted in connection with a white slavery operation that made the news earlier in the month.  It appears as though Mr. Hollander committed suicide by slipping into the open bridge while it was up for a routine inspection of the gear system.  He held onto the inner rail work and then was killed when the bridge closed.  The death is being ruled a suicide as the deceased had a note in the pocket of his jacket, drafted in his own hand, apologizing to all the people that he'd hurt and promising God that he'd make it right.

A daring daylight bank heist took place Saturday, and the police are looking for what witnesses are calling six Cheerleader Kathy Dolls.  The group of girls were wearing Cheerleader Kathy masks and outfits.  Although they didn't use any guns the girls were apparently well versed in the martial arts and put both bank security guards in the hospital before making off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

School News

Remember to buy your tickets for this years Winter Festival, being held Saturday December 22nd. 

Monday the 17th is the deadline for the Husky News Food Drive.  Please have your donations in the bins by the end of the school day today.

School Talk

The Janush Holiday party is to be held at the Janush house.  Rumors of another cool out of the way spot were put to rest on Sunday when Elrod passed the word.  The party will officially begin an hour after the Winter Concert is over.  Everyone is required to see Dave to get assigned a kid to buy a gift for, and the limit on cost of the toys is $20.00.  Food and beverages will be free to those who bring a toy, or a $20 dollar cover charge for those too  lame or that can't see Dave before the party.  There will be a DJ and dancing but no live music.

There is a solid buzz about Sammy and Nick.  Drama club rumor is that they had a kiss that would melt the polar ice caps at the end of their Friday Rehearsal.

Events

During the course of the day, as she goes from one class to another, Sammy catches sight of Nick.  She always sees him this time of the day.  When he realizes she sees him, he turns abruptly to go in a different direction but bumps into another student and drops his books.  He hustles to collect them and move away before Sammy can close the distance, but she can make out a few bruises on his face and a spectacular shiner around his left eye.  He's gone out of sight before she can get close enough to talk to him and if she goes looking for him she'll be late for her next class.

During the period right after lunch on Monday, the internal TV network to the school flickers to life and a movie begins playing.  It's the Friday night rehearsal with Nick and Sammy.  Well, just the last ten seconds or so of the singing.  No audio though, but it does show the kiss, and lingering afterward, and then cuts out.

Colin clenches his fists in anger. He doesn't understand what he saw, what Sammy exactly did and what it means, but he knows he wasn't meant to see it, and neither was the rest of the school. He feels like he should protect her friend. Someone should pay. And he thinks he knows who.

This time he needs to be sure though. He whispers something to the blackbird, and starts roaming the school with his eyes.

You've got to be somewhere from where you can control the network. This time I'll find you.

Sammy feels the eyes of every kid in the classroom boring into her hide, asking questions she doesn't want to answer.  She raises her hand and asks if she can speak to the teacher in the hallway.  When she gets there, she says in a trembling voice "I need to go to the Principal's office now.  My parents need to be called.  They need to call the police too, because that was a threat if I've ever seen one.  I'm not sure if the message was aimed at me, Nick Hurley, or Elrod Janush.  Would you please call the main office and ask them to send someone to escort me?  I don't feel safe here."

Donnie says "sonofa-" before catching himself. He is furious, that the Moral Minority has targetted one of his friends for a little prank. One that could spell trouble for a number of people..

Certainly for those that posted the video, if he had anything to say about it.

Sarah watches the kiss quietly before saying, "Oh." 

She blinks a few times.  She sighs while her mind finally turns to focus on something than the image of Hollander's head popping off like some sick cartoon. 
This is bad.  Poor Sammy.  I hope she and Elrod will be okay.  And Nick.  This stupid video spy needs to be stopped.

She slides her phone out and txts Sammy.

U OK?  Want 2 Talk?  I can ditch class.  *hugs*

After talking to Nick, Sylvia heads off to find Elrod.  She's going to turn that boy inside-out.

After being escorted home by Logan, Sammy discovers the the text message from Sarah.

I M @home.  Come after school?  Bring others??


She sends another message to El.

I M @home if U want to talk.

Sarah forwards Sammy's message to the US and adds Group Hug

You get expelled over that?

Nope.  Sent home b/c scared, angry.  Landis worried 2.

Donnie skips his last class and heads to the library, securing a corner and setting his dragon to watch for boys with baseball bats from atop a nearby bookshelf as he engrosses himself in one of his more recent theories of using magic with computers..

In about an hour and after the last bell, he texts Colin, Sarah and Sylvia:

Donnie's new spell for making electronics and computers talk to me. Esentially, he is going to use the AV equipment, the hub of the video transmission, to hunt down where the video was loaded from, the Postcognition to visualise who did it. The Data Link w/ Machine control is to let him make the the equipment talk to him.

Provides the following:
Data Link 1, with Machine Control Extra (2pp)
Super Senses: Postcognition (4 pp)
Increases Computers Skill by 8 Skill Ranks, and the Search Skill by 8 Skill Ranks, but only while active (4 pp)

OOC: I'm going to rule that because of the way the spell interfaces it requires the proper equipment to display.  Meaning that the Postcognition effect is treated like watching a video tape.  The advantages of this restriction is that anyone can watch the events with you on the monitor and you can fast forward and rewind, pause and the like.  You CAN NOT record to another source though, since it's not actually a video source so much as magic.

Actually, my plan was not even to use the AV equipment to display the events of the past, but to have Sylvia beam them into reality via looking in my head and making Illusions of what she sees.

But this makes it even easier.

A little before last bell Donnie is called to the Principals office.  There he is greeted by two uniformed officers of the Oak Park PD.  They take him down to the station, where his mother and a man in a suit wait.
