Title: Chapter 43-25, Donnie visits the PD Post by: secretoracle on January 17, 2008, 07:00:07 PM Donnie, his mom, and what is obviously a lawyer go into the interrogation room. A few minutes later two detectives some in. "I'm Detective Ford, this is my partner Detective Harrison. We'd like to ask you a few questions about the attack on Elrod Janush." They proceed to advise Donnie of his rights and then have him and his mother sign a form indicating they did so. Mom seems entirely too calm for some reason. "Donnie you don't mind if I call you Donnie do you? Do you know a girl named Samantha Jameson?" He signs the form, his hand shaking a little as he does so. At the detective's question, he nods, saying "Yes." Title: Re: Chapter 43-25, Donnie visits the PD Post by: secretoracle on January 17, 2008, 09:55:44 PM "So, tell us what happened Donnie. We have a witness that will put you at the scene. And when Elrod wakes up, he's going to tell us what happened. Sammy asked you to do it, didn't she?" "You like her, right, I mean c'mon it's only natural." Another man comes into the room, obviously another lawyer. "Fitzgerald Chambers, representing Mr. Douglas." The other lawyer looks confused, and so do the police. They all begin to talk at once, and Chambers raises his hand. "My colleauge here handles the Douglas' affairs of estate and that sort of thing. I'll be representing them in this possibly criminal matter." Some looks are exchanged, mom nods to the lawyer she brought and he leaves. "So..." "My client will not be answering any questions at this time. You're fishing, and I suggest a lake for that. Charges?" He pauses only a moment, "We're done then." "We're going to be pressing charges, so if your client knows what's good for him..." "If he did he wouldn't need a lawyer, he'd be living on a dessert island away from people. Good day gentleman." Chambers gets the door for Donnie and his mother. They sign out and head for the lobby. "Did my husband call you?" Mom asks, slightly confused. "No, mutual friends found out that Donnie was being brought in. We represent your husband in matters of this nature and have extended the courtesy to young Donald as well." Title: Re: Chapter 43-25, Donnie visits the PD Post by: BaboonBill on January 18, 2008, 12:39:49 PM Donnie is silent through the exchange. Oh great. Either he's a government lawyer or the mob has sent one of their sharks to keep the waters clear. That deserted island is sounding mighty attractive right now. If only it was one with wireless internet.. "Do you work with my dad's company?" Donnie asks, trying to sound meek. Oh if only I had Sylvia's power to read minds. Title: Re: Chapter 43-25, Donnie visits the PD Post by: secretoracle on January 18, 2008, 01:02:12 PM Chambers looks down at Donnie. "No, I represent some people who your father does some private consulting for. They're very keen that he not be troubled by excessive entanglements with the legal system. That kind of thing can make a man loose sleep, and let it effect his work." "So, in other words you're one of the lawyers for the mobsters he thinks I don't know he works for?" Mom's statement is direct and uncharacteristic, but her voice is bright. Chambers nods but says nothing. Title: Re: Chapter 43-25, Donnie visits the PD Post by: BaboonBill on January 18, 2008, 02:05:12 PM Donnie's breath catches. He should have known better than to expect his mother was not onto Dad's activities. Obviously she had no compunction against mentioning it in front of her son. Donnie looks over to her and nods slightly, acknowledging her statement. Donnie says "They usually do have the best lawyers." |
