Ancient Egyptian artifacts on display at Metropolitan Museum.  A collection of artifacts from the tomb of an unknown Egyptian King are on display at the Met.  The artifacts are part of the Mysteries of Ancient Egypt show and include a sarcophagus that has defied scientific examination as well as numerous examples of the riches of the time of the pharaohs.

Police are still making arrests in the Vandross crime cartel that many believe to have been run by Donald Howell Jr., son of the former mayor of Oak Park.  The criminal enterprise has gone national in scope and the NSA has taken the lead on the investigation.  To date more than twenty people have been arrested and trials are expected to begin in the spring.

School News
Classes resume with a light schedule this week.  All students are to remember there is a strict policy against fighting on school grounds and that the use of cell phones is to be restricted to not interfere with classroom activities.

School Talk
The holiday break has given everyone new stuff to talk about.  There is a buzz about the whole Vandross thing and Donald Howell's involvement.  The first few days back at class it seems that everyone is sort of extra careful talking about Torrance, but by Wednesday she's the topic of a good bit of gossip and being blamed for just about everything that doesn't make sense.

There is some talk among the Science Club kids that Mr. Heep was taken in for questioning over the whole Superman thing, and some other stuff.  No one seems to know what that was all about though.

Principal Landis apparently gave his resignation to the school board, but they refused to take it as it was discovered that he'd been influenced by Torrance Shippman into making a few policy changes.

The Cheerleading coach was also the victim of Torrance's powers, and rumor has it that a recent bank robbery committed by a bunch of girls in masks was actually the cheerleading team, under Torrance's control.

Events
The first week back is pretty quiet.  Band practice is as normal, the assorted school clubs all have their first meetings of the New Year.  The really mean teachers all give quizzes on Wednesday and the really mean ones gave quizzes on Monday.

Colin makes sure to check on Mr Heep when he hears the rumors about him. He can't believe the teacher to have anything to do with the drug, he's sure he was just heard as an expert, but he wants to see him anyway.

Donnie tries to convince the history teacher to schedule a field trip to the museum, ignoring the wary looks form Colin. So what? I wasn't on that fatefull field trip, Colin, m'man! Besides, we all have powers already..  ;) ;D

Naturally Donnie will be the first one possessed by the Goa'uld.  :)

Well isn't that funny!  Sammy thinks, Djinn are Egyptian, so maybe there's something to learn at the museum.  She won't try to organize a school field trip though.  She'd be happy with just her friends in attendance.

I want to go see the Egyptian artifacts on display at the Met.  Maybe I can find out more about the djinn.  Anybody want to go with me?

Colin has indeed a strange feeling about this, therefore he can't let his friends go alone.

Sylvia will do a little high-school newspaper research.  She'll hit Google.  She'll call the museum and ask to talk to a curator.  She'll have a list of questions prepared, but that doesn't mean her player does.  She'll ask Donnie if he knows who would be able to answer questions about real djinn.

Sammy found a reference to this book, but its not available at the local library and for privacy reasons was afraid to order it or buy it online.  Its one reason she thinks there might be an Egyptian connection.  Then again, its just a story.
