In The News

An NSA Spokesperson reported that a number of incidents recently have been linked to the weakening of the natural barriers between dimensions in the universe.  This cycle has followed what the NSA has determined to be it's natural course as determined by careful study over the last twenty-five years.  They are taking steps to reinforce the barriers to reduce and hopefully prevent Extra-Dimensional Incursions until the barriers naturally strengthen again.  Incidents have been reported in Seattle Washington, Chicago Illinois, New York City and in other locations across the globe.  The NSA expects the arrival of extra-dimensional travelers to be a real possibility for the next week as they bring the necessary equipment online to solve the problem.

A construction site in Oak Park was vandalized by what is thought to have been a paranormal with super human strength.  Several pieces of heavy construction equipment were overturned and most of the framing that had been put in place was knocked down Friday night.  Police are conducting an investigation.

National News...

Cynthia Collins was reunited with her family after four years.  The girl vanished on a trip to Paris France,  authorities suspected she had fallen prey to White Slavers.  Collins was found by authorities when the home of Multi-Millionaire Jaque Lucarn, a French recluse and industrialist was the site of an as yet unexplained attack.  Fire and police units responded to the alarms and found Collins sitting on the curb in a state of shock.  The authorities are uncertain what exactly took place, but it appears that Lucarn's own private security forces were responsible for the incident.  Many had killed one another and set the house ablaze.  Lucarn's remains were found in the house the victim of several bullet wounds.  Collins was able to relate her imprisonment in the home, and a search of the secure room where she had been kept yielded a wealth of evidence implicating Lucarn in her being held against her will.  shocking details were withheld as Collins was apparently some sort of sex toy for the depraved Lucarn.  A blessing perhaps for Collins is that she's not able to recall any of the details of her experience beyond being held captive.  Collins was 17 when she disappeared, and her parents had all but given up hope of ever seeing their daughter again.

Donnie gets some additional stuff from his Grandfather.  Books and a few scrolls.  More study materials mostly.  He's also managed to find a few Forums dedicated to magic and applying the arcane in odd ways.  He's learning that the reason magic and tech never got along was because they never did.....before.

Sarah folds the paper up with a smile.  Someone was still busy out there.

When Sarah glanced at the local news and saw a reference to possible supernatural strength she says, "Look's like we have a project this weekend!  Cool."

Colin looks at Sarah and Jacob, and grins slightly.

"It's been quite some time since the last one. This looks like it's going to be fun."

Donnie begins research to see if the magic-technology thing is a pattern, like the waxing/waning of the moon, only hundreds or thousands of years old. Perhaps the world is swinging back to a more magic-filled side of things. He perruses the forums with the experience and aptitude of a boy darn-near born with a clicky mouse in hand.

Not long into this research it dawns on Donnie.  This type of technology has never existed before, so there is not solid basis for comparison.

There are rhythms to the flow of magic, but not any of any real note now.


The symbols are polyglots.  They are conceptual arcanum, and the orientation of the symbol determines what it means.  There are also references to using there magica ars varia in combinations to achieve a variety of magical effects.  they require a power source, and thus are often used on magical items and artifacts which have been imbued with magical power.

Tentative ideas of using technology, computer logic and the like to formulate magical spells and formulae. After feeling out the posters and the like, his first posted techspell is the 1 point AccessDenied spell that magically locks access to a piece of technology without the proper magical mental command. He uses it on his laptop, flashdrives, and PDA.

"Of course it isn't.  Silly of me."
