Sammy and Elrod had gotten back from Vegas, and the film festival lay ahead.

Sammy and Elrod got back home at a reasonable time.  She stopped to gather up her stuff from the spare bedroom then went home to shower and change.  She had some new clothes that El bought for her in Las Vegas, and she could have showered in the bathroom off the bedroom, but she had no clean underwear.  That she wouldn't let him buy for her; way too personal.  For that very same reason she wasn't about to borrow any of Lisa's stuff.

So she went home and shared pictures and got cleaned up, feeling a good kind of tired as she sat down at the kitchen table and refueled with a huge breakfast of sausage and eggs and potatoes.  Then she did a bunch of small stuff as she waited for her ride to arrive.

Elrod arrived in a cavernous SUV.  "I hate the thing, but we want to be able to pile the bodies in."  He gets the door for her.  "We should go kidnap Heather too if she's not already planning to go, and her boyfriend, Ben?  I only met him at the Halloween party."

"I guess.  I haven't talked to her in a while.  I'm a rotten friend."  Sammy calls Heather to work things out.

Heather and her boyfriend agree to come, meaning she's going to call and tell him that they're going.  Sammy and Heather still see each other at band practice, but they've both been so bust this is the first time they've had a chance to hang out in a while.

Elrod and Dave swap some text messages about picking assorted people up, and Elrod makes sure to get Nick.  With a car full of people Nick is right at home.

Sammy chatters away excitedly at Heather.  She's glad to have a chance to catch up with her friend.  Nick gets a smile and a couple of words, but most of the attention is focused on Heather.  It makes the car ride much less tense than she expected it to be.
